I had shared I wanted a tattoo of a bonfire in the beach with waves and smoke floating away. I sent photos of the types of waves, flames and smoke tattoos I liked, and some possible design configurations. Since she doesn't share designs in advance, I had to just put down my deposit and hope for the best. When I showed up, I was given a design that Miko herself acknowledged looked weird, but she didn't have suggestions on how to improve it. It took so much time just to try and get it to look decent. In the end the tattoo looks fine, but for the price she charges I would have expected something amazing. I would definitely come back if I had a tattoo pre-designed, but not if I needed help translating an abstract idea into a tattoo.

I first came across their shop on Instagram, and took notice of their fine-line work. The only way to book an appointment with them is by following their links on Instagram. I received a response from them about an hour later. I initially sent it pictures of the idea I had in mind, and we set a google meeting so they could show the design. After the google meeting, I put down a $200 deposit for the actual appointment. To get to the shop, you have to enter through the main entrance at Shops at the Loom, and walk through a couple hallways to find their studio. There is another tattoo shop in the front but that's not them. One of the first things I noticed was that their shop is really aesthetically pleasing; the modern neutral tones with dried plants. The shop itself was clean and very spacious. I think the only thing I noted was that there isn't much room from privacy? I'm not sure if they provide a divider if you're getting tattooed on the rib cage/chest/upper thigh areas. I only planned to get something small, and Kong was really quick and light handed. He confirmed the design with me and made small changes after my suggestions to what I liked. There was a small quip in translation though; I didn't know he was going to do part of the tattoo in red ink but by the time I had asked he was already tattooing it. In the end I didn't really mind because I think it looks great with the red, but it was on me to not question the red heart at the final design agreement. In total, I paid $450 for the tattoo. You can pay cash but they also accept Zelle (they add tax to Zelle payments). It probably seems like the pricier end of tattoos, but you're also paying for craftsmanship. I'll definitely come back for another fine-lined tattoo I have in my mind later down the road!

The second thing was the lack of correct equipment. He used thick rusty pliers (which is incredibly risky because this piercing is STILL HEALING!!) and scissors instead of ring opening pliers of flat nose pliers. My brand new, expensive jewlery broke in his hands without compensation. He stated "this is the risk that you take". However, no risk was stated and there was no debriefing done. I've had rings of a similar gauge opened just fine. I'm very disappointed because My jewelry broke before I could wear it out and it was a waste of money because I cannot wear it anymore. He stated to me that "i've never seen a septum piercing this large before" which i could understand, but to me it shows that he should've declined the job if he knew he didn't have experience in it. This is my second weird experience with my septum piercing at this shop. The first time was when the piercer tried telling me what gauge i was at (assumed 16) and debated with me about with me knowing it was a 12. Then proceeded to say 20 gauge is thicker and 16 is thinner, which is opposite. The people on the piercing side here do not know what they are doing.

It's basically a hand snapping with little stars and planets around it. The problem is that the hand wasn't done as neatly as I would've liked it to be. The stars were not either, they are VERY simple stars. What left a bad taste in my mouth was after the tattoo was done I'd also realized he left some little but major details out. When I left the shop I observed my tattoo more and more until I realized and had to go back to tell him what he forgot. He apologized and added what was missing. As I started to leave the shop I realized he forgot to bandage me again, so I reminded him. Apologized again. Apologies are great and all but if you are in the profession of putting PERMANENT tattoos on peoples bodies you should be taking this WAY more seriously! Just my opinion! I will not go back.
