Micheal is HANDS DOWN the best colorist and stylist in Lubbock. I always leave with a perfect cut, and feeling like my most beautiful me (and I'm super picky when it comes to my hair!) We have gone light, dark, and everything in between and I'm telling you she can do it all!! The Salon itself is GORGEOUS too. Coffee in the waiting room, drinks when you sit down, amazing music, and a super beautiful environment. I love how it's right off Broadway too! Whenever I go get my hair done, I visit the little boutiques near by. I live way South, but I HAPPILY drive to see her & everyone at Salon E. I just recently found out they do brow shaping too, and my eyebrows have NEVER looked better! It's been a few months since I've gotten my hair done here, but I have to say, if you want something more complicated or unusual than brunette and blonde, I would try somewhere else. Most of the problems with my hair were from lack of good communication, which I fully own up to being a part of that. I've gone from blonde to brunette, so I'm not a hair virgin and have undergone a full color before, just never lighter. I had not properly researched what to expect and ask for when I came in wanting silver hair. I first sent a picture to the salon over DM asking how to achieve a color and was told I needed balayage, when in reality what I needed was a full lightening and toning. Even when I got into the appointment, I showed my stylist honest-to-goodness silver hair. Knowing what I know now and having my hair silver now, I now know any knowledgable colorist would have told me, balayage isn't going to achieve this look. Still, she persisted. I walked out of that salon with white-blue, chunky sections of hair. A friend of mine who is also a colorist saw me not two hours later and understandably asked if I had tried to do it myself. Here's why I'm giving this a two-star review though. The stylist I had was learning, I knew that going in. What bothers me is the entire experience of the salon. During my five hour long appointment, which was a bit much, the owner/manager and another stylist were not five feet away from me and were constantly coming by and saying how good my hair would look and whatnot. Each time they did, I felt so unempowered to speak up during my appointment, even though in my little knowledge I knew that it was strange I was only getting sections treated for what I thought was an overall color. I felt like I'd look like a fool or be a high maintenance customer, especially since I wasn't completely sure what this process entailed (again, I only blame myself for that). But, how can two fully trained stylists walk by and give false praise to something that simply is not done well? By the end of the appointment, after five hours, I was so tired and drained and stressed, I just tipped the girl and left. I ended up having to redo my color not two weeks later, because I couldn't stand how badly the warm and cool tones clashed. So, again, if you know what you want and it's a straightforward, common process, you could probably give these girls a shot, because the environment and location are great. I wanted to like this place, truly! But if you want a fashion color or anything outside the natural wheelhouse, I'd try somewhere else. read more

I've been getting my hair cut by Lindsay C. (based out of Salon E) for a long time. I often refer to her as a hair wizard rather than stylist. Why? Well, I've always had pretty crappy hair that got crappy cuts from crappy hairstylists. I sort of knew what I needed to change, but every time I tried to explain that to a stylist they'd give me the exact same haircut. The first time Lindsay cut my hair, she spent a lot of time talking to me about exactly what I wanted. And guess what? For the first time EVER I got a really, really excellent haircut. Since then I've referred EVERYONE to her, and I've never heard back a bad word. So many friends have seen her and given me their own glowing reviews. In fact, a whole family of women I know go see her now. So, to sum it up, Lindsay is a top-rate hairstylist because she's communicative, passionate about doing a great job, and highly-skilled. I went in to get a hair cut and balayage by Kayla but did not leave with one. It was so bad I had to go to someone else the next day to get it fixed and thankfully he was able to save my hair although I had to get an extra 2-3 inches in some areas to fix the haircut. She didn't give me the long layers I asked for nor the balayage. I had an interview the next day and I was so embarrassed. The picture is before and after and also what I asked for. Complete trust with all of them, normally I just sit down and say do what you want and it's always 10/10. Really love the double hair wash, can't stand having hair clippings. Literally the worst haircut I have ever received. It was not what I asked for at all. After showing a picture to my hairdresser, she acknowledged what I wanted and proceeded to give me a BOB!!! I had long hair, and she chopped off a solid 7 inches of my hair. Not only had I gotten a bob, but on top of that the cut was ridiculously uneven, and I swear it was done on purpose because there is no way a licensed hairdresser could seriously be that terrible. read more

This salon is wonderful--best in Lubbock, and I've been living here a very long time! They take pride in their work, and they REALLY MEAN IT when they say they want you to be happy with your hair. If, after your appointment, you realize you are not happy (for whatever reason), just tell them! They will make it all better :) My stylist was--and will continue to be--Jennifer. She is an awesome stylist and person. I love talking with her, and she spent almost all day balayaging my very grown-out (aka root-tastic) hair, followed by a beautiful cut. I left happy, but I realized after a couple days that the contrast between natural hair and blonde ends was too great, causing a "grown-out roots" look. I contacted her and she got me in the NEXT DAY to blend my roots...and the final result was absolutely gorgeous. And she didn't charge me for that appointment at all. So happy with the whole experience, and I can't wait for my next appointment. Go here. Try this place. It is not a risk--because they will be sure you're happy with the outcome (just communicate with them!). COLTON IS THE BEST!! Absolutely amazing stylist and hair highlighting. He did my hair, and when I asked for touch ups did more. My hair has never been so blonde and blended so beautifully. Went to get my hair highlighted & while the staff is very nice, I was not satisfied with what I got for my money. $165 (before tip) to get highlights & you can barely tell any difference in my hair, it is mostly all over brown still. Spoke with the manager about being dissatisfied and she was kind, yet was unable to offer any sort of discount or more highlights to make me better satisfied with my hair. I wanted black roots with silver tips. I specifically said I did not want orange/caramel colored tips. Orange is exactly what I got. The haircut was also a mess. 2 people cut my hair and it was totally jacked up. I was told it would take another coloring to get the color where I wanted it. First visit cost me $180. So I went back to get a second coloring and get the cut cleaned up and when I arrived they told me they wouldn't have time to do it that day even though I called and they told me to come in. I was told it could take up to 3 more times to get the color where I wanted it and it would cost up to $250 each time. Are you freaking kidding?! I went somewhere else to get my hair fixed and it cost me $115 and she did it in one visit. Do NOT go there. It is a total scam read more

I have been going to Salon Etincelle for the last year and have been beyond impressed with the results. Micheal was the first person to dye my hair and every time I have gone in, she has done an incredible job. People are constantly asking me where I get my hair done because the cut and color look natural and always grow out exceptionally well. This is easily the best salon in Lubbock. read more

I have been to this salon 3 times. All have been mediocre. I'm not sure if it is from inexperience or what but each time seems to take forever. A highlight/color/cut took nearly 4 hours my first time in. A haircut was close to an hour and a touch up of the color/highlight took almost 3 hours. I was quoted one price before I scheduled for my last appointment and then after my service was charged $20 more! To top it off, what I was given for my "touch up" was completely different than what was there before. The stylist, and others in the salon, are less than professional. After this last appointment, the stylist had "allergies", I now have a full blown cold that is close to keeping me home from work. If you may be sick and contagious think of your clients and cancel! They also typically have music playing with profanity and vulgar lyrics. I cannot bring my daughter with me to the salon. I will be looking for a new salon in the future. read more
