I came in for a consult on a hair extension and a quick hair cut. My stylist was Tiffanie. The consult seemed way over priced, but I am not an expert in hair extensions. She quoted me $1200 for a clip in extension. The cut was mostly fine except that I was one of two clients she was switching between. I understand that bleaching can take awhile, but it seemed odd that she would take two clients at the same time. At first, I liked the cut, but after styling it myself for a couple days, I really wanted a few parts of it trimmed more. I texted Tiffanie and asked if I could come back in to have it fixed. It may have been a comedy of errors of which my hair was the butt of the joke but after two hair coloring sessions and $150, it's a mess!! Now admittedly, I know it's just color and can be fixed easily but it wasn't which is why I'm annoyed. I went in to get a Smokey grey color and it turned green!! The girl doing my hair couldn't fix it for two days, so I leaned into the horror and had confidence that when she fixed it it would all be okay. I showed her a picture of what I wanted the second time, which was different from the first since I did not want another green mess on my hands,a brown blond balayage with a couple of hidden purple streaks to which she agreed. Well, she was so worried about covering up the green roots that she dyed them dark brown! I left with bad yellow blond hair with dark brown roots and a couple of purple pieces. I'm now two weeks out and the dark brown roots, that she said would lighten have not, and my hair is a funky yellow blond color. Now I know from other women that use this salon that Lindsay and Lisa and amazing (neither which I saw). And I am aware that I am very picky! If you go, see Lindsay or Lisa and for now I'm trying to find a salon that can fix this mess!! read more

I called a few months back and got a same day appointment, which was nice. I went in and had a specific hair color in mind to support a friend who is battling a disease. Sigh. I walked out with something WAY different. The bleaching was fine, but the coloring was off. (I also had a cut that was so so) While I was in the salon, there was a lot of back and forth and gossipy talk, which I get, but it made me feel awkward, especially about speaking up when I was dissatisfied. I have been to Hello Gorgeous twice now and have loved it both times! My stylist is Lindsey Sharp, who used to work at Shear Perfection off of 19th and Indiana. When Shear Perfection closed and Lindsey relocated I had no idea where she went, and I was upset because there's literally no one else I trust with my hair. I'm so glad I found her! Lindsey is an amazing colorist and hairstylist. She has taken my crazy mane of hair and managed to make it beautiful every single time. My hair is naturally very coarse and frizzy, which she knows how to work with, and she's cut my mom's kinky curls successfully several times. I have come to her with hair that has been home-bleached, box-dyed, Sally-dye-dyed, hit with crazy rainbow colors, self-cut, dried out, and breaking off, and she always knows how to fix it, better it, and make it come out looking and feeling so much healthier. Her prices are also some of the most reasonable I've ever seen as a stylist, and I've even gone back to have her fix something I wasn't 100% satisfied with. As far as the salon goes, it's small, but attractively arranged. Nestled in Cactus Alley, it's quiet, and calming, which is nice when you're going to get your hair cut. The other stylists appear to be just as talented as Lindsey. Would highly recommend to anyone! read more

Hello Gorgeous is the bomb! My hairstylist, Lindsey Sharp, is an amazing lady that I would follow anywhere. She used to be at Shear Perfection but decided in July to start at Hello Gorgeous. This salon is great! Hello Gorgeous is quaint. It's small space pushes it to be efficient and effective, and it does both really well! Everything is organized and clean and the 4 hairstylists have room to work on their clients with plenty of elbow room. It's 15ft from Gatsby's front door, so if you're getting your hair done, grab a to-go chai before you start! Prices are great, and they use products like Kevin Murphy to leave your hair feeling great. For shampoo + cut/trim + style, it's only $35 before tip! They do highlights & coloring and a variety of other services, so be sure to call ahead to know prices for those. A little bit more about Lindsey: I heard about Lindsey through several friends, and I started going to her in April 2014 for my updo for my wedding. Let me just say: she's AMAZING. At the time, I had thick, long hair. Rather than twisting and braiding and bobby pinning each section up, she SEWED my hair. Yes. SEWED. You have no idea how perfect it was - didn't feel heavy, was secure, and looked freaking amazing. She's trimmed my hair for over a year since then, and I trusted her to the great task of cutting 15" off my hair last month. She did an amazing job, sectioning, cutting, and preparing my hair to be donated. She then made my chin-length hair look great!!! My Friend Molly recently cut out a whole foot of her hair here. She obviously needed moral support so I tagged along to see what was going on. This cute boutique like salon is located right in Cactus Alley, a super great spot in Lubbock for cool stuff. Right next to the famous Gatsbys and Manna Bread and Wine. Hello Gorgeous is first of all a really cute name for a hair salon. On top on that the inside is really quaint and cozy. It is a small little area, but decorated perfectly and very clean. Their are four Hair stylists that all seemed to be serving loyal customers that they had relationships with. Molly's Hair stylist Lindsey was awesome. She is the perfect hair stylist not only because she was great at hair, but also because her hair was awesome and she is decorated in a lovely plethora of ink! Her tattoos are perfect. I know that has nothing to do with her actual abilities, but it adds points in my book :) Everyone here was very friendly and seemed to care a lot about their clients.
