OMG y'all - so we are working in Lubbock and my roots/gray and color was in need of help. While in Austin over the holidays, every salon I went in to see if they could drastically change my color said it was going to be a lengthy process over 2days plus the cost was redonkulous (More than I was certainly willing to pay). Thinking that I would just have to settle on just a root covering & cut, I started calling around when we got back to Lubbock. FIRST, the receptionist was beyond sweet! She listened intensely on my desires & passed the info along immediately. She told me to send her the current pictures of my hair now & also what I was wanting. She told me to go through their FB page & she would forward to one of the gals & see if they could help me. So lucky for me, she sent Molly my pics & she texted me immediately to clarify what I was wanting & gave me a reasonable quote on the whole process. It turns out, she said is WAS doable to switch my color (without selling my kidney). I'm sure all the ladies are good, but.....Molly is my new bbf! She pepped my hair up for sure & gave me her tips on caring for my color to ensure it will stay a bit longer. AMAZING experience!! read more

While I can only testify as to my own experience, which is limited to one stylist at Terra Bella Salon (Cassie Temple); I will say that I'm incredibly thankful to have been referred to her. Cassie has cut and colored my hair perfectly every time I've been to her, and I'm pretty picky. In fact, I read Yelp reviews and researched salons for three weeks before I was referred to Cassie. She also provided me with great suggestions for bars, restaurants and boutiques in Lubbock. The salon is cute, friendly, energetic and clean. I came here for a highlight and cut. I am very picky about my highlights and after doing some research I decided to give this salon a shot. I started my visit by explaining to the stylist how I have had bad luck with chunky highlights and that I wanted them blended. She replied that she does the slicing technique because that makes it more blended--now I'm not a stylist but I always get weave highlights for that natural blended look. My hair before this was a soft blonde highlight with LIGHT brown lowlight. I picked a lowlight I thought matched that--when she washed my hair I looked in the mirror in shock. I had about 1 inch bleached blonde streaks with 1 inch dark dark brown on the top of my head--alternating bleach with dark. I was so frustrated! Knowing people have off days, I asked her to fix it. I was scheduled for a time--she texted me canceling 2 hours before the new appointment asking if I could come in the next day. This was not convenient as I am a night nurse and my days are for sleeping! So I suffered getting 3 hours of sleep after working to get my hair done. Went in for my second appointment and the stylist was so frazzled and I felt like I was not wanted at all. I pulled up a picture to what I want highlights to look like, and before I could explain she said "I don't have time for that. I'm just fixing your streaks..." Excuse me? I just paid over $100 for my hair that you messed up! I replied "I'm talking about the skinny highlights, not so much the color". She said okay...(even though I DID want the color in the picture...) I get my hair highlighted and as I get sent to the drier she said "I'm going to put you under the drier for 20-30 minutes and the wash. You can leave wet right?" Shocked, I said well okay... The shampoo girl (who was wonderful) spent her time washing my hair. I got back to the booth and got my hair brushed and got sent out (with wet hair) so she could go to her next client. I have never been treated so poorly in a salon before in my life. I don't care if I am not a paying customer this time--that is only the case because my hair was severely messed up!! This stylist told me several times how busy she has been, that she had a million things on her mind. I don't need to be told how busy you are--when you reschedule me last minute, I expect the new time to be enough time for me. Not to mention she was constantly on her cell phone during my visit! Extremely Rude!!!! To preface my experience: I had recently had a baby and felt grungy, so like most new moms, I wanted a fresh start and a new look. But there is very little time with a newborn. My husband one Saturday graciously offered to watch the baby while I went out to get my hair and nails done...Love him!!! I had heard good things about Terra Bella so I decided to give it a try. Of course, it was a Saturday and last minute, so I was going to try several salons to see if any of them happened to have openings. I walked into Terra Bella and asked if they had any available spots for the day. The lady upfront was nice enough and went to see if any of the girls were available for the day. Then, the stylist CLOSEST TO THE WAITING SPACE begins to trash talk me to her client!!!!!! She scoffed and commented on how ridiculous it was that I would think I could get an appointment on a saturday. Then the receptionist pointed out to her that I was standing right there....but she kept going!!!! She continued to tell her client how important their clients were and how picky they were about accepting clients. As if she has the styling skills of a hollywood stylist! How rude!! I will NEVER be going back to Terra Bella and I will make sure all my friends are aware of how rude they are. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I went to Village Hairstyles and they did a fantastic job and were very welcoming. Maybe you should take some notes Terra Bella. Cute decor doesn't make you a good stylist and it doesn't hide your callous nature. read more
