The customer service was stellar. I tanned for a month back in December to get ready for a New Year's vacation in Mexico. The manager/owner was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable and I felt like I was in good hands. I have pretty fair skin and my skin type is the type that has to burn a little bit before it tans, and she got me comfortably into the Sun Angel bed. I did that for a couple of weeks before I realized it wasn't really doing anything because it was a little bit too gentle and then I finally switched to a regular bed and started seeing real results. To the manage's credit, I was very afraid to get burned because I don't do well with sunburns, and I could've switched at any time if I had preferred to do so sooner. I suggest the Sun Angel to test your skin's response to artificial tanning, but try to work up to a normal bed. Also, try the sensor on other parts of your body no matter where it tells you to hold it. All in all, I would highly recommend this place if you were trying to get ready for a vacation or a special event, and want a natural tan! read more

I was a member for a couple of years. I enjoyed the experience. When Covid started I requested to cancel. I called to cancel my auto payment due to Covid which was done. A couple of weeks after that I called to pick up my mat and was told that they had it and I could get anytime. I picked up my mat and that was it, so I thought. A year later I got a call from a collection agency. I was surprised that I now owed over $1000! I promptly called to visit with Planet Beach. The owner was not available, I left a message, no one called. I called again left another message. I finally got a call back and asked why I was turned over to collections. She began telling me of the numerous calls and messages that I received by her. I was surprised to hear this since none of this was true. I asked her for details of dates and times and she couldn't produce any of these details. I gave her the details of my cancellation and she asked why I had not completed a 'form' and that I should have done this. I explained that I am not responsible for a form that I was not told about. She was extremely unprofessional and unwilling to work with. I offered to pay a couple of months since I was to give notice, which I knew nothing about. So now I have a derogatory item in my car edit report. I had to give a rating to post this but they are undeserving of even a star! Do not trust this company. read more

Came here a lot when I had a membership about 8 years ago. Recently got a groupon and decided to come back. love the idea still, but they need to invest in some newer equipment on some stuff or just do strictly tanning. the hydration bed and massage bed are still functional but definitely getting old. I would prob get a membership if they upgraded some stuff. read more

I am visiting Lubbock from out of state and was searching for a nice tanning salon, which didn't require a membership. I had been to two other salons and decided to give Planet Beach a try. I was impressed with its appearance and the services it offered. I was questioning the young lady about the business and she replied that she had two locations in Lubbock. I was impressed that such a young woman had her own business. I asked if it was a franchise and she said yes. She said "she" had locations all over the world. I was buying a small package and gave her my debit card. She ran 3 times and said it didn't work and that I needed to call my bank. So I left and called my bank, because I knew there was a mistake. I was told I had two pending charges from the tanning salon. So I drove back, with my bank rep on the phone and explained the situation to the young lady. I was patient and understanding because I know system glitches happen. The problem became her attitude. She was treating me as if I was lying instead of trying to be helpful. She continued to argue with me when all I asked was for her to confirm with my bank that she did not charge me. She then told me that she was "the manager" of the two locations and nothing like this has ever happened before and she couldn't give me something I didn't pay for, nor could she give anything to my bank. She finally spoke to her owner, whom she gave the impression that I was lying. The owner told her that I would just have to wait and see if my account was debited and come back. I finally asked if I could speak to the owner and was told, "No. She will only speak to me." I finally said, "listen, I am being patient and respectful, trying to get this resolved and you are acting angry, rude and treating me as if I'm lying, when it is you who has double charged me and won't even give me the service you charged me for." This went on for over half an hour. Finally she made a call to the credit card processing company, who showed two pending charges and they voided them. In total, I wasted over an hour of my day with them and had nothing to show for it except frustration. I finally learned that she was just the assistant manager. She has a lot to learn about honesty and customer service. FIrst lesson, tell the truth about your position. Second, the customer is always right, until you discover that they are being dishonest. I WILL NOT GO BACK TO PLANET BEACH after being treated so rudely and I would suggest the same to anyone who reads this. read more

Super nice staff and great prices. I haven't signed up yet but it sounded like a good deal. They told me the day you sign up you also get 20% off all products which some are required for some services which is understandable. Some of the spa beds are worn down so I hope they get those refurbished soon. So far so good with this business. read more

I got a groupon to visit this spa and the staff was nothing but helpful and nice. The place was very clean too. I could not brag enough about the staff. I'm pretty sure I saw a different girl working everyday and each girl was knowledgable and sweet. I didn't know what color of spray tan to get and the girl chose medium for me and it ended up looking amazing! Now I'm getting a membership just because all of the other salons I've been to haven't been as sweet as these girls! Oh ya, I liked all of the treatments too. read more

I've never written a bad review before, but this place certainly motivated me to do so. They seem so nice and helpful on your first visit...till they have you locked in a contract. Once they have you there, not so nice anymore. There was one incident where I was a few minutes late for my appointment for first a red light treatment and then a tanning session. I called them and told them I would be a bit late, and she told me that I would have to reschedule for another time. There wasn't even a 5 minute leeway. I asked if I could just cancel the red light and only do the tanning, and at first she said no. That made no sense to me...my being late 5 minutes would only effect the booking for the red light, but not the tanning, so how could that be a problem? After I asked her that, she reluctantly let me go ahead and keep the tanning appt. They often forgot to turn on the machines, and I would have to go marching out in their tiny robes to remind them...or completely redress. The heat capsule machine most of the time didn't work right, so I got to where I just quit using that...which meant that I wasted the money I spent on that black suit they have you buy in order to use it. I dismissed all the little annoyances I experienced at this place and kept going. But now...I have a new schedule that no longer allows me the time to go at all, so I called to cancel my membership. First they tell me that I can only do that when a manager is on shift...basically at THEIR convenience. And for me to do that on their time, I would have to take time off of work and rearrange my own appointment schedule. That's a little extreme just to cancel your tanning membership! But, then she tells me that I can't cancel AT ALL. She says I have one more month on a 5 month contract. I started this in April, so it WAS five months ago, first of all. Secondly, at the time I signed it, I was told cancelling WAS an option, but that I had to do so a couple of weeks before the payment was set to draft. Third...I haven't had time to go in there in over a month, so they have already gotten 60 dollars from me for absolutely NOTHING. And the best they are willing to offer me is a freeze on my account, which is still $10 a month! Seriously? It costs me $10 a month to NOT occupy their facility? I've purchased their overpriced lotions and that black suit...they have raked plenty of money out of me, and they can't be sympathetic to my situation and give me a break? Wow! HORRIBLE customer service! I'm amazed at what a disappointment this place turned out to be. read more
