Horrible orange stitching and BULGING zipper.
    Christine C.

TERRIBLE SHOE REPAIR. PHOTOS TELL THE STORY! These are a pair of $350 Aquatalia waterproof weather boots. They were asked to replace the zipper on one shoe and said no problem. I gave them both shoes +the original zipper pull so they could make them look close to identical. DISASTER. Big sloppy orange stitching. Uneven stitching. Zipper is bulging because it's not sewed in properly. The top is just a mess. I would NEVER bring shoes here again and would tell anyone with quality shoes to PASS on this place.

I am looking for a new shoe repair store. I have taken 2 pairs of boots, 1 pair of shoes, and 1 purse over the years for repair, for varied repairs: zipper replacement, strap replacement, heel replacement. EVERYTIME I have had to have them redone for various reasons. They are very friendly and I like the staff, but their work is atrocious and terribly sloppy. Globs of glue, uneven and bunched new zipper, and terrible stitching. Looks like a 3rd grade art project. DONE, lost me as a customer for good

Paid $22 + tax to have a zipper replaced ($12) and 2 buttons installed ($10), price is fair but the work was pretty sloppy. They left a ton of glue all over the zipper where they sewed it down. Looks like a third grade arts and crafts project!

What a joke this is. If you want your shoes to look worse, bring them to Eckstein.

This is just shameful. What kind of hack shoe repair shop does this. Absolutely horrible. Find a new profession or at least be honest with your customers. If you can't do the work, be honest. Don't make it worse. Just shameful. Thanks for nothing.

One of the pairs, my Footjoy Classics Spikeless, stopped being produced in 2009 so I wasn't sure how difficult of a project this might be for Mike. Turns out they look better than they did when they were new! More support, better constructed, and they look brand new. Mike took a pair of shoes that were literally falling apart and brought them back to life, even better than before. These Footjoys look better than anything Footjoy sells these days! Mike did such a great job that I dropped off another pair when I picked up my last 2 pair. And I have about 3 more pairs of shoes that are in need of being recrafted, Cento Shoes will be wear I am taking them. The price is right at Cento Shoes and they carry all the good and necessary shoe care products to keep your shoes in great shape and well nourished. Jennifer who works in the front of the house is just amazing and super kind. She got me taken care of in no time and while I was there picking up my shoes I got some new socks and shoe care accessories too. Cento Shoes has been around longer than I have been alive and Mike Cento has the same passion for shoes that I do. Footwear is really important to me. If it is important to you and want support a locally-owned family business of 50+ years that brings footwear back to life, go see Mike and Jennifer at Cento Shoes, you will not be disappointed. Mike is like the Obi-Wan Kenobi of shoe recrafting. He has a new customer and a friend for life. Thank you!!!

Established…read morein 1886, they've built a reputation for carrying hard-to-find sizes and as someone with small feet, that truly matters. Most stores don't carry a size 5 in Hoka, which is my preferred brand to run in, but Stout's had exactly what I needed. I didn't even go in expecting to leave with shoes, but with Robert's expertise and friendly persuasion, I walked out with the perfect pair. The Bondi 9 might be the most comfortable shoe I've ever put on my feet -- an absolute game changer. I can be particular about color and sometimes hard to please when I have something specific in mind, but Robert went above and beyond to help me find the right fit. He was knowledgeable and genuinely eager to help. I left feeling confident in my purchase and so happy with the experience. Stout's is officially my go-to place to shop for high-end running shoes!

He was so patient and really listened when I answered his question about how the shoes felt. He tried different brands to make sure it was the right fit. I made a comment about being lazy with my toe shoes and sliding them on (I know, that's a bad habit). He found a solution for that, too! He was able to find multiple pairs to fit my needs, then even found something to fit my husband. Great experience!

Well, they have some regular hours for the holiday season and now is the perfect time to go see this Francine's, which is in the same location as 7th Avenue Nails & Spa. The owner, Tammy, is a wonderful lady and soooo friendly! The boutique has a nice selection of vintage women's clothing- mostly dresses and coats, a few pairs of shoes and some BEAUTIFUL vintage ladies' hats. Tammy told me that she focuses on acquiring clothing from the 30's-70's and she makes sure that every piece is in excellent condition. The prices aren't bad at all, and they are running a 30% off every item in the store sale right now. There's also a nice selection of vintage costume jewelry and some handmade scarves. As I mentioned, there are several vintage coats on the racks here, and when I asked Tammy about a particularly saucy leopard print one, she revealed that vintage coats are her true passion. The prices aren't bad at all, especially with the extra 30% discount! Since there's a nail salon here too, I happened to be lucky enough to pick up a few bottles of clearance OPI and China Glaze at only (drumroll please) $2 a bottle! Wow, I am really excited about these - four bottles for less than the price of one normally! One of the best things about Francine's is their merchandise from the Anne Taintor (www.annetaintor.com) collection. These vintage-inspired accessories for modern life are hilarious. Go to the website and check them out. Tammy let me know that Francine's is the exclusive southside retailer to carry the line. If you have any woman on your Christmas list this year, you are sure to find a perfect gift for her in this collection. Francine's is having a holiday extravaganza the weekend of December 6 and 7. There are special sales every couple of hours and it sounds like it's totally worth stopping in to take advantage of these discounts! Hours are Saturday 10:00-6:00 and Sunday 12:00-5:00. Happy shopping!
