Established in 1886, they've built a reputation for carrying hard-to-find sizes and as someone with small feet, that truly matters. Most stores don't carry a size 5 in Hoka, which is my preferred brand to run in, but Stout's had exactly what I needed. I didn't even go in expecting to leave with shoes, but with Robert's expertise and friendly persuasion, I walked out with the perfect pair. The Bondi 9 might be the most comfortable shoe I've ever put on my feet -- an absolute game changer. I can be particular about color and sometimes hard to please when I have something specific in mind, but Robert went above and beyond to help me find the right fit. He was knowledgeable and genuinely eager to help. I left feeling confident in my purchase and so happy with the experience. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to see about some new shoes. The podiatrist had recommended Stout's. Aaron was amazing! He was so patient and really listened when I answered his question about how the shoes felt. He tried different brands to make sure it was the right fit. I made a comment about being lazy with my toe shoes and sliding them on (I know, that's a bad habit). He found a solution for that, too! From the age of 3 to 6 I was a constant customer there at Stout footwear. I was born with one leg shorter than the other, and my mother would not allow surgery. So they used weights to pull my leg down at night but in the daytime, I had to wear special shoes and the only place that made them to perfection for Riley. Hosp was Stouts. They were always so kind so gentle I had so many pairs of shoes from there. I remember looking into the closet in our house and it was lined with these shoes one size one shape sometimes a little different from the next four years. The service was always awesome. The price must not have been too bad because my mother never said a word about how much she had to pay and the value was always good. When I would have to go back and get another prescription for the shoes the old ones would not have even worn out yet lol I just want to say thank you for taking care of my feet and helping my legs to come out really good cause I don't walk with a lamp, thank you for the love. These folks have been in the shoe business for over 100 years and it shows. The customer service and the knowledge of the friendly staff make for a really exceptional shopping experience. I returned an item and followed all policy for returns. I returned my item on 01-26-2026. I waited on the refund that never came. I started trying to reach customer service by calling and leaving messages trying every which link I could find to reach anyone, to no avail. Finally on 03-04-26, I sent an email to the same links I had been using before. However, this time I included I would be contacting BBB. No doubt, I heard back from a Trevor Lesh in a heartbeat. He stated they just received the package on 03-03-26, so it was past the refund date of 5 days after receiving item, so I would only be receiving 3/4 of my refund. How can you just have received an item that I mailed over a month ago! He blamed the postal service. I had an awful experience with Stouts. I was very early to my lunch next door ( the Eagle ) so I decided to stop since I had time to kill... I had went here as a child with my mother. I was a very tall girl and we lived in Noblesville, IN. No shoe store with size 12 girls back in the day so my Mom would bring me here... it was like stepping back in time.. I would recommend this store to anyone! Aaron and the entire staff are caring and knowledgeable. I hadn't visited Stout's for years until I was referred there by my podiatrist. He told me to get rid of all of my Sketchers shoes and replace them with Hoka. I stopped by and my feet were measured and I purchased my first pair of Hokas. Now, I have Brooks and Hokas. I feel like I'm walking on air. Aaron, Cara, and Robert helped me enjoy the experience. When I thought I was out 200$, Aaron surprised me and helped me. I went in today because I had just bought a pair of shoes somewhere else and they just didn't fit right, so I was going to see about getting a different type of shoe. Instead of selling me on a pair of shoes I didn't need, Tyrone helped me with a free foam insert, and taught me a different way to lace my shoes that would help them fit better. It's a good store with a good selection, but the fact that they were willing to help me out even if it meant I didn't spend money says so much about them. This is my first time to this particular Stout's. I did know it's one of the oldest shoes stores in the nation. 133 years old!! When you walk in those doors you're transported back in time. I loved the checker board floors. It's such a unique store that you just don't see often anymore. I love supporting an old establishment like this. Years ago they invented a wire basket and pulley system called the Baldwin Flyer system. Years ago it was used to send the shoes and money up to the mezzanine office where the shoes were wrapped and the change was made. Then the wrapped shoes and change were sent to the front desk where an attendant would give the change and shoes to the customer. They had a clearance shoe table and while looking I looked up and noticed Ripley! Stout's famous blue and gold Amazon McCaw! Ripley's been there since 1998 and seems to love his store. He even has wood shoe parts to chew on which he loved doing while I was there. One of the employees came over and helped me. She went over and got a shoe horn and helped me try on my shoes. She was informative and told me what socks might go good with the type of shoes I got. The shoes I purchased were so comfortable. It was like walking on a cloud. I'm glad I bought them. I would recommend this store for your next shoe purchase. They sell Brooks, Merrell, Birkenstock's, Keen, Jambu to name a few brands. They had other items such as purses, billfolds, backpacks, etc. I had a great experience and already recommended my mom stop by again. She works downtown and said she hadn't been in a long time. She said she would and would go to the clearance section. My shoes were $100 and I got them for $54! They're name brand too! read more

I have been to Stouts Footwear in Greenwood, Indiana three times now (within a month) I cannot say enough great comments on this show store but the closest one word would be SPECTACULAR! The professionalism and kindness were and always be be a plus for me! I would like to see more of a selection in the Hoka brand Bondi 9 tennishoes and this is not even a complaint. I purchased 3 pair from the store in Greenwood and will continue to purchase my Hokas from this store! The gentleman that helped me this last time...he was AMAZING and kind, Phil is his name! All three times each person there helped me out my shoes on with a shoe horn and tied them as well..this is a great service, I haven't seen or had this done since I was younger! Even if they didn't have an awesome selection of shoes (which they do), just stepping into this place and absorbing its history is reason enough to pay them a visit. From all the vintage ambiance throughout the building, to the enormous selection for both men and women, we couldn't have been more surprised. I came with my wife and daughter and our friend. All four of left with new shoes and raving about the customer service. The store manager, Aaron, was a well dressed very outgoing and knowledgeable man that made you feel like he was helping a friend pick out shoes. He gave honest feedback about what we were looking for, genuinely seemed to love his craft and his career and couldn't have been more attentive. Helped me pick out a great new pair of timberland boots for our Wisconsin winter and got all the girls some sweet New Balance's. In addition, and this is a big one, THEY CARRY CREATIVE RECREATION. Yes, that awesome 2010's era shoreline w the insanely original designs. He had a ton of options. I couldn't help myself. Their prices were very reasonable and even offered a generous military discount. I also found out we can ship online and call him with our questions and order and we will get the same level of excellent service and have them shipped to us. All shoe store are not created equal! I have always been a Target show shopper or if I am feeling a little spendy I will go to DSW. The thing is, is that I have pretty large feet for a woman and they are wide :/. So usually I squeeze my foot into something that doesn't really fit and isn't comfortable, wear it a few times and then get rid of them. When I decided to buy hiking boots I knew I couldn't play the same shoe game I played in the past. I needed a pair of shoes that fit well! I've walked past Stout's plenty of times while on Mass ave and I've admired the shoes in the window, but I've never stopped. I decided Stout's was going to be my first stop on my shoe quest. I popped in on a Saturday afternoon and was immediately greeted. I explained what I was looking for and they showed me a few options. I picked the ones I was interested in and they popped in the back to get my size. Let me tell you, there is something very luxurious about someone taking on and off your shoes. Give it a try! Stout's hooked me up. They found a pair of shoes that fit my large wide feet, put them on for me, let me walk around to see how they fit AND had a boot sale going on. I'm embarrassed to say that I've lived downtown for 6 years and had never even walked in Stouts until this year. That being said, Stouts is now the top of my list when I need shoes. I needed a new pair of running shoes and realized the shop I was initially planning on looking at was closed that day so I figured I'd check out the selection at Stouts. I was so impressed when I walked in and not only saw the impressive selection of not only running shoes, but also other walking shoes, sandals, etc. - including many of the big name brands you'd find at other big chain shoe stores. I was also surprised to find out that Stout's is similar to a classic shoe store where they have a sales rep work with you, ask you what you're looking for, pull the boxes off the shelves for you, and even put the shoe on your foot for you (and tie them up if necessary). This was first for me, and I thought so unique to any shoe store I've been to previously. The sales rep that helped me, Chris, was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly and welcoming. It was like I was shoe shopping with a friend. You can tell that customer service is on the top of the priority list at Stouts and that is one of the main things that will keep me coming back. I was also impressed when Chris took me to a machine that took a reading of my foot and the different pressure points based on how I stand/walk to help him make suggestions for shoes to try. AMAZING service!!! Stephanie & Kevin went above and beyond to help me find shoes. It is next to impossible for me to find comfortable shoes because I have flat feet and use orthotics. The store has the biggest selection of fashionable wide-width shoes for women. Stout's is one of the few stores that carry Clarks. When I shop for shoes, I want to go somewhere I can try on shoes quickly (preferably by pulling the sizes myself) and not be hounded by a salesperson during the process. At Stout's, the salesperson tries to keep you in their store for a long time. They want to measure your foot, they want you to try on shoes that they recommend in addition to the ones that you want, and they push you to try on additional insoles that you can buy. Some people might like this type of service and think that it's a nice personal touch. Me, I just want to get in and out of a store as soon as possible, and to be left alone unless I have a question. I appreciate that Stout's has been around for so long and that they have a nice selection, but I don't appreciate their approach to sales. read more

My husband and I purchased shies from Stout's Shoes in Greenwood from Amy. She personally fit my husband in a shoe that he would need for work..after wearing them they were hurting his foot so we called Amy at Stout's in Greenwood. We explained that the shoe was fit incorrectly and caused him great pain. Amy told us that they would take care of that. That we could bring in the shoes and they would get us a correct pair. When we got to the store they changed their minds. They said that there would be nothing they could and would do for us. My husband had to have a pair of work shoes so he bought another pair..We are now stuck with a pair of VERY EXPENSIVE SHOES THAT AMY FITTED MY HUSBAND FOR AND HE CAN NOT WEAR..So we contacted the owner..it has almost been 2 months and they have not returned my call..They could have texted but they did not..They also did not help us in any way.. So before you ever step foot into a Stout's Shoes. Please remember this and know they did nothing to help us in any way.. We will shop Zappos or other but never ever Stout's Shoes..
