Now the full story: I was in the market for a used Ionic 5, and I first drove one at Echo Park Automotive in Cary, NC. However, when my husband and I were ready to buy, they didn't have one, so I went to someone else (who, for the time being will remain nameless because we're still in the midst of a disagreement). The car came with an adapter, which I thought was for the Ionic so that I could use it with a Tesla supercharger, but it turned out it was the wrong part. It was for a Tesla to use other types of chargers - so wrong way around. Turns out there was no aftermarket source for them, so I was left with either throwing it away (super wasteful) or giving it to someone who could use it. I was determined NOT to take it back to the arseholes that I bought the car from, so I took it to Echo Park with the intention of just giving it to them for someone who buys a Tesla from them so the part wouldn't go to waste. When I explained the situation to Tyler, he took my number and told me that they would order the right part for me and call me when it came in. WHAT?????!!!!! I didn't even buy a car from them and they're offering to help me with a $250 part????? WOAH! Needless to say; next time I need a car, I'll wait a month so I can buy my car of choice from these guys. I was extremely disappointed with my experience at EchoPark. I found a vehicle I was ready to purchase and scheduled a 6:00 p.m. appointment to move forward with the process. Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, the experience was unprofessional and demonstrated a complete lack of respect for my time. When I checked in, I was simply told to have a seat and that my salesperson would be with me shortly. My father accompanied me, and we waited for approximately 20 minutes without any updates or acknowledgment, despite having a scheduled appointment. There was no communication regarding the delay or any effort to explain what was happening. The most frustrating part of the experience was watching my assigned salesperson begin assisting another family while I was still waiting. At that point, it became clear that my appointment was not being honored and that my business was not valued. I chose to leave and decided not to purchase the vehicle. As someone who was fully prepared to buy a car that evening, this experience was incredibly disappointing. You're going to want to read this before going here, especially if you're from the corporate office. I could write a novel but I'll cut to the worst of it: they invoiced me a total out-the-door cost in dealership on a cash deal and then, a few days later, threatened to withhold my title transfer unless I paid them more money. After paying in the dealership and signing title transfer, I'm handed the keys and drive the car home. A few days later, I get an unexplained email invoice for "outstanding balance on deal." No accompanying detail. They then text me a day later saying that I need to pay or else they'll have to return the car--still no explanation. I push back and Logan (sales rep) alleges that I actually owed more money due to an issue with the calculation and that the "system can sometimes forget to calculate everything correctly." I push back again, and then I'm left a voicemail, this time by Tyler Reis in the finance department, again threatening to return the car if I don't pay. I call them back and they say the prior explanation was actually not correct and that Logan didn't know what he was talking about. Tyler says the issue was that they undercharged me and I owed more. They then email me their rationale. I again refute their argument and say I'm not going to pay. They don't address any of my points, and instead just nastily demand the money or else they won't transfer the title. Their general manager, Leo Bonillo, supported this and was on the email chain. Not wanting to deal with the incessant harassment and wanting the title processed to MY vehicle, I paid the invoice and escalated the matter to the State. On top of this, they do a lot of the usual used car dealer antics: didn't allow me to take the car off the lot for inspection, tried to scare tactic me into an extended warranty, and tried to sneak in last second fees which I refused to pay for. Also, I asked Logan THREE times to have a specific spot in the car cleaned and to make sure the car had a full tank of gas prior to me picking it up. Every time he'd nicely reassure me that they could do that. Neither task was done at time of signing and he refused to do either when I confronted him on it. Drove 137 miles to check out the vehicle. The facility looks like the inside of an Apple Store. It's a bit of a process because they move such a large amount of vehicles. You respond to the vehicle and they set you up with an appointment to see it (I just showed up). They set me up with my guy to check out the vehicle and I knew it was it. So here comes the dance (no dance). They up you on a warranty and a few other add ons (it is what it is). Took a few hours from start to finish. My guy even drove me to drop off my rent a car. It feels very weird at first because it's not like the old dealerships of yesterday. Then about thirty days to get my tag and registration. if I could give zero , I would. I live in Charlotte , NC. I went to their website and followed all instructions to buy online - declined any extras and got an OTD price of 25753. Paid 500 Credit Card Deposit and informed Echo Park I would drive from Charlotte to pick up. OMG - please worst experience in my 50 years of buying cars. Even though I had bought car online - declined all extras I was told that they MUST tell me about all options just in case I didn't understand. Presented me with a price of 33K. After much arguing they finally relented and presented with - a price. which was 700 above - after again back and forth, presented me with another price which did not match my purchases price after again backhand forth and a threat to walk away finally the manager got involved. I presented them with approval from Bank of America for car loan and went to bank to get cashiers check to be told I might as well go out to lunch because it would be a long time before they could finalize the deal because they had just agreed to price. Like WTF - I signed and left my deposit on website. so here we are hour 3 into this debacle. only for me to arrive with check and wait - you got it another 1 hour until someone actually gets back. Now I and my daughter sign tons of papers. Great - then we wait, you got it another hour and I am told we are all set. As I am walking out the door I am told there is a security violation and now I must present my Social Security Card - I'm like dude - I live in Charlotte, here is my REAL-ID from NC that proves who I am. no go. I had a really frustrating experience with EchoPark and feel like people should know what to expect. I drove almost 2 hours (1 hr 54 min) for a 7:00 PM appointment and arrived 6 minutes early. I checked in right away but wasn't seen until about 7:35. At that point, the salesperson introduced himself, pulled the Tesla Model Y around, and told me to go outside and look at it while he'd be right out. It took another 20 minutes before we even started the test drive. The drive itself was mostly fine, but there was a noticeable noise inside the cabin every time you hit a bump. After we got back, he started going over add-ons and protections. I clearly said I didn't want any of them. He then told me the $699 appearance protection wasn't optional. When I said that was an issue, he took me to his manager, who basically told me the same thing in a pretty dismissive way -- that it comes on all their vehicles and I could "go find a better price somewhere else." At that point I was honestly a little shocked. I've bought multiple cars before and never had something presented like that. Since I had already driven almost 2 hours, I figured I might as well at least look at the numbers and my trade-in. I had done an online appraisal beforehand and was quoted $4,205 plus a $500 trade-in bonus. The only issue I noted was stained seats. After a very quick test drive (maybe a couple minutes), they came back and said the car "needed a new transmission" and dropped the value to $1,500. That made no sense to me considering I drive the car 3 hours a day with no issues. Then came financing. I was pre-approved beforehand and told to expect around 12-14% APR. After they lowered my trade-in so drastically, the rate they came back with was 20%. I told them there's no way I'd agree to that. I even asked about a cheaper Tesla Model 3 on the lot (about $7k less), and suddenly the bank "required" a down payment plus my trade-in for that option. At that point it just felt like everything kept changing depending on the situation. End result: I drove almost 4 hours round trip and spent another 2 hours at the dealership just to feel like I was misled the entire time. Do NOT go to this store for anything. They will lie to you, ignore your requests, and try to scam you out of more money than they "negotiated" with you. My parents went here to look at a car, against my advice, and the sales person (Darryl) and his manager (Brittany) lied to them repeatedly and tried to scam them out of $4000. I was on the phone with my parents as they were finalizing numbers and we specifically and repeatedly declined all optional stuff. We figured they wouldn't try to scam us, but sure enough, when we got the "deal recap" papers there is almost $4000 that is not accounted for in their math. Upon further investigation, we saw that the cash price they are quoting includes all the optional crap that we declined. To make things worse there is no mention of them adding it to the final price in the deal recap papers. This is not the regular "car salesmen pushing warranties" and now borderlines on fraud and scam. After writing this review I'll be submitting a report with the AG's office. It's one thing to be pushed to purchase extra service and warranties, but it's another thing to add them to the price without consent and then try to hide it. If you like to be lied to and enjoy paying for things that you specifically declined, this is the place to go to. Believe the bad reviews people. I was there with my son this past weekend to buy his first car. This is a national chain that is trying to be the "anti-dealership" dealership. Not just another used car dealer. The interior is a wide-open space with natural wood, music subtly playing, and lots of tables for discussions--but no cars on display. All the salespeople are young--like in their late 20s or early 30s, as best as I could tell. They all wear cool branded attire, and the whole thing comes off as very modern, informal, and relaxing. We looked at and then test drove the car, listed at $11,789, and decided it was our winner. When the salesperson (who I won't name out of decency) came back with the itemized sales sheet, the total was close to $18,000. There was $4,700 tacked on for a theft protection fee, a branded interior/exterior protection coverage, an extended warranty, and something else I can't remember. This was in addition to the standard tax/title/dealer fees. I politely told him to remove those charges, or we were walking. He went back and came back with a new sheet that looked much better. (And one that I should have looked at more closely.) In a back office, we were about to pay, but the total was still nagging me for some reason. I asked him if he could show me the itemized costs again. He pulled it up on his phone as he did not have any paperwork with him at this point. And sure enough, there was the "PermaPlate" interior/exterior protection plan for $699--one of the same ones I asked him to remove. When I asked why it was still there, he told me, "It's an addendum." I looked at him blankly and told him I know what an addendum is, but why was it back on the sales sheet? He did his very best last-ditch effort to sell us this thing. He emphasized the "great value" and the "whole price + protection" as being a good deal. When it became clear that he (read: the company and its policy) was not going to remove it, I told him we were done and we got up to leave. On the way out, he asked if I wanted to speak to his "Coach" (what they call their managers--another branding tactic) about it. I politely said no, that it was between the two of them, and I had no interest in hearing another sales pitch. We left. What boggles me is that this place let a $12,000 sale walk out the door over a $700 add-on. Save your time. Save your money. Skip this place. They're just another used car dealer. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I purchased a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek from EchoPark and had one of the worst first time car buyer experiences of my life. A few days after purchase, my Crosstrek developed a very loud squeaking noise. A 2023 car should not be experiencing any noises like that. I took the car back to EchoPark for them to inspect. They had my car for the day and called me to tell me they couldn't find any problems with the car. I talked to Sabrina and told her to tell their mechanics to look again. EchoPark kept my car another day and all of a sudden said my brake fluid was leaking and the car needed a part replaced. After receiving my car, later that same night the exact squeaking sound happened again. EchoPark had my car for two whole days but they failed to find or fix the problem. I then took the car to a Subaru dealership whose certified mechanics actually found a whole list of problems with the car. I needed new front and rear rotors, I had a broken wheel stud on one of my tires and needed new brakes because the previous brakes were improperly installed. In total it came to $1,518.53 in safety-related repairs and a $114.36 diagnostic fee. The Subaru mechanics fixed everything, including the squeaking problem. They found that the source of the squeaking was in fact, my brakes. Something EchoPark failed to acknowledge or fix. That is a major safety concern along with other issues that were never disclosed prior to sale. There is no way this car passed a legitimate state inspection. Even after Subaru identified the problem, EchoPark tried to get me to bring the vehicle back to them for a third time. I declined because they had already had two chances to properly diagnose and repair the vehicle. I no longer trusted them with my car and have another dealership fix any further damage they cause. EchoPark offered me a $700 check and that was it. Another red flag was during the purchase. I explicitly told the salesman named Tyler NOT to include an additional $700 charge. He added it anyway. I had also arranged financing through my credit union (Coastal Credit Union), but without asking or informing me, Tyler ran my loan through a different loan service instead. I only discovered all this after the paperwork was finalized. These are not "mistakes", these are choices that benefited the dealership at my expense. BUYERS BEWARE: If you value honesty, transparency, and safety, DO NOT buy a car here. Read every line of your contract, verify your lender before signing, and have any used vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic before you buy. I strongly recommend going elsewhere and I hope you read this review so you will not become another one of their victims that they take advantage of. read more

Beware of the car price advertised as they have a required purchase of a maintenance program and then an optional more expensive maintenance program and then they work to upsell you a very expensive warranty Went in on a Friday afternoon and was told they could put a car I was looking at on hold for 48 hours with a fully refundable deposit of $500.00. I was undecided but thought that was fair. I realized later they had kept the title of my trade in and when I went back to retrieve it was difficult to get back but finally did so. I called the next day, May 17, to cancel the hold and request the refund of $500.00. Despite repeated texts to salesperson and with assurance that the refund we credited to my bank, it is May 29 and have still not received. read more

Update: I am satisfied with my new-to-me vehicle, but the customer service at Echo Park is still less than ideal. If I owned this business and my managers behaved the way these did, I would replace them. Let me give you specifics. As I said in my first review, the person who initially told them they worked until 6pm wasn't there at 5:53pm. It wasn't until I went online and started posting honest (bad) reviews that the wheels got moving. FYI Matt the manager didn't bother to get involved until the reviews were mentioned. He actually asked what I meant by posting bad reviews and asked if that meant I'd gone on Facebook. I took that comment to mean he figured since I am a Boomer, Facebook is my only avenue of connection. That was just one of several snide, disrespectful comments I heard. Interestingly, Matt was able to get me an uber after 6pm this same night. There IS power in a bad review! What is more interesting is that when I arrived after 7pm that night, Echo Park was still filled with both customers and employees. Of note though was that this mysterious Matt the manager never once introduced himself to me. IDK but when I co-owned a restaurant, we didn't hide from the customers. When we wanted to fix mistakes, we met the customers in person. All his promises to make things right, were never accompanied by a personal connection to meet me which is a HUGE FAILURE in managing. As for the transmission issue, the vehicle never repeated the jerking issue. They told me the car was in eco mode and wrote on the paperwork that they needed to "educate the customer" on eco. The van I traded in had eco mode and it went in and out of eco automatically. It could not be turned on and off like in the new-to-me vehicle. The issue I experienced was not caused by eco mode and my mechanic confirmed that explanation was a joke. Speaking of mechanic, mine found what he considered a major problem with a wheel. I think Matt the manager thought my mechanic was a figment of my imagination because he spoke in a condescending manner when he asked if he could have my mechanic's phone number so he could confirm the issue. Lucky for him, I'm actually honest and had the number at hand. The next exchange was to tell me the wheel problem was from chopped tires caused by a bad alignment. No worries, he was giving me 4 new tires. I appreciated that; however, when I asked how my bad alignment and chopped tires had passed Echo's 190 point inspection, my question was ignored. Hmmmm. That silence spoke volumes. When all was said and done, I dropped off the loaner and there were two people behind the desk. One, I suspect, was the manager. He didn't bother to speak to me, but rather quickly walked into an office in order to have a woman give me the paperwork and keys to my vehicle. I guess, once I was gone he felt empowered again. The manager called me an hour later to make sure I was happy. Of note, I never once went off the rails. I am not a crazy screamer and I never curse at people. I simply stood my ground. The manager also called me again recently since I hadn't updated my reviews yet. I guess he thought I should move faster than Echo Park staff did. He ended that call by saying how much he appreciated me. LOL. Literally, I almost did laugh out loud because his delivery was anything but genuine. Final analysis: I am satisfied with my vehicle. I am not satisfied with the less than stellar customer service Echo Park displays when there is a problem. And I am even less satisfied by the stereotypical behavior displayed by Matt the manager. And should anyone want to blame me for being a hysterical Karen-type, let it be known that I had ample support from my male mechanic and male acquaintances who backed me up in the understanding that I was indeed getting the run-around and it was unacceptable. Would I go to Echo Park again? Not sure. The friend who recommended it in the first place had a good experience. But that friend is a male. Sadly, I think the general stereotype of women getting shafted in car dealerships is applicable here. Sadly. By 2024, I would expect better. read more

So... me and my wife decided to purchase a vehicle from EchoPark and initially I felt this may go well, however upon arriving and engaging with the saleman I found that this place is just a shadetree sales store with all the signs of a poorly run company. The first issue we had was with the vehicle that they say the conducted a 190 point inspection on, however I found they didnt even wash the vehicle. Later there was an issue where the salesman put the wrong amount of the check from the bank, so I had to go back to the bank to get that changed, while they detailed the vehicle. I then come back, complete the paperwork and the vehicle STILL!!! had not been detailed!!! So I continued on with the process as I didnt want to seem petty over a dirty car, its used. Two weeks after receiving the vehicle, the vehicle would not start, so I thought my daughter had just run the battery down (you know kids right?). After an inspection of the battery I find the battery water level was below the plates, (I guess they missed that on the 190 point inspection), this led to the alternator failing So I call EchoPark and attempt to get it repaired and have yet to get a response. I had to buy a new alternator along with a new battery as I have teenage kids that drive and I dont have the time to be taking them around all the time which was the reason for the purchase of this vehicle. Then, Navy Federal starts sending me notices that they havent received the title. So I call EchoPark, Call them again, and again. I still have not received one call from EchoPark regarding the status of the title. Their customer service is a joke and this is potentially how you will be treated if you buy a car from them so BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

Robert looked at them, then back at me and said "You're saying they, but I only see one person." I made eye contact with Robert, and calmly said "That's right." He continued to misgender my child throughout our visit. As we were leaving, someone identifying themself as a manager approached us to ask about our experience. I kept it short but polite as we knew we would never go there again, then he said he assumed I would need to go home and discuss with 'hubby' before making a decision. I enjoyed the whole dealership experience with them because they were efficient & effective on completing my transaction in a timely manner based on my distance from their dealership. Their model of doing business is extremely suspect. We went in to look at a specific model of car, of which Echo Park had two. The salesperson repeatedly tried to get us to look at and totally different make/model that we had no interest in (they had probably 10 on the lot and were clearly motivated to sell them). The salesperson also tried to talk us into yet another car that was very bright blue color which we also had no interest in. When we sat down to negotiate, they told us they "don't make money off the car" but they try to sell all kinds of warranties and products, none of which we were interested in. They told us their cars come with a ceramic coating and when my husband tried to inquire about the specifics of the coating, they said it "wasn't really ceramic coating, just a similar product." This outright lie is when we decided to leave and never come back. Sneaky, shady salespeople. Definitely do not recommend whatever they are trying to do. read more

They made an appt ,drove over 2 hours, spent 3 hours there, took their deposit and was in process of signing papers when they noticed price was incorrect by 400.00, they corrected the paperwork then came back and told them it was sold online, and sorry. Sounds like they didn't hold the car while they were looking at it. Didn't even offer to find them another to match at a reduced price for their trouble. We called inquiring about a purchase we made at a sister dealership. The receptionist answered and didn't introduce herself or what office we were calling. My mother asked for someone who speaks Spanish and the receptionist ignored her and asked her three times why she was calling. Her tone was rude and demeaning so I took the phone and told her why we were calling. She sounded like she didn't want to be there or was annoyed we called. I understand you work with customers all day and it's not fun. I do the same and it's tough. But I don't appreciate when you're demeaning and can't act professional. I went to this dealership Friday July the 5th 2024. I picked out a VW Tiguan to purchase agreed to pay the asking price and had my credit approved. Then came the extra sales. It was like I was buying a time share. The kept trying to sell me paintless dent repair, interior protection and all kinds of other stuff. Finally I told them I just wanted the vehicle. My sale persons name was Katherine by the way. She left. Next thing I know the inventory manager is at my table and he says he just received an email that they did not have the title to that car and could not sell it to me. There were other cars we liked but there was no further attempt to sale us one. He just said have a nice day. We never saw Katherine again. I later found out that this same thing happened to my friend so obviously it is a lie. Never go to this dealership. I wasted 4 hours and they are liars. read more

Hello, my so Gene Harris got a loan around $20,000, and he has only had the car for 5 months and now the transmission is gone. He needs a transmission. Evidently the transmission was not serviced because when it was checked at Infiniti, the transmission fluid was very low and black in color. No, Gene didn't get the warranty, but 5 months, something is wrong. The transmission should have been serviced before sold to anyone. Now, whoever by a car from EchoPark make sure the transmission is serviced. Gene is left with a huge loan and he can't drive the car or afford to fix it, because it's about $4500 to fix the car. read more

Upon discussing the purchase, Julian did not know any answers to any of the questions we asked and he brought 2 people on separate occasions to answer our questions. My experience with EchoPark Automotive was abysmal for several reasons. First, when I arrived and approached the main desk, they had no idea who I was even though I had an appointment and an approved offer for my car; the automatic assumption was that I was there to buy a car, no questions as to what brought me into the dealership. When I informed the salesman that I was there to sell a car and not buy one, he took me back to the desk, and the woman there informed me that another gentleman would assist me in creating an offer. After producing the paperwork I had received from their partner Edmunds and informing her that I had an offer, she said he would look at my car and confirm it; if I had an offer, why is he confirming it other than to nitpick items to lower the offer? She also informed me that their system was down nationwide, and they could not finalize the offer, i.e., write a check that day. I left without another word. I had to drive over an hour and a half there and back, putting another couple hundred miles on my vehicle and lowering its value, only to be told EchoPark could not finalize my deal that day. The fact that EchoPark had my contact information and failed to contact me, advise me of the issue, and reschedule if this would be unacceptable demonstrates poor customer service. Additionally, my wife had to follow me in another vehicle to bring me back home. One star is too good for my terrible interaction with EchoPark. read more

Do NOT get involved with these con artists. We drove from an hour away to see one specific vehicle that looked like a great deal. Outside while looking at the vehicle they talk about this additional warranty for this used vehicle as if it's already part of the sale price. Tyler, (I'm sure they are are all trained the same by their "coaches"), proceeds to do a credit check and comes back with the vehicle about $3,500 above listed price. Taxes, title, fees accounted for done but I asked for a full print out of itemized costs. He returns with it now costing about $10,000 above listed price. $6,000 was for that "warranty" discussed outside plus some $1,000 gap coverage in case it was a total loss in an accident. When I told them I didn't want any of these surprise fees and that I wanted to think about it, overnight there was a "sold" listing next to it and did not get a response until I let it ring for a minute. Bought a car from them. Needed an oil change ASAP for $23,000 it should've had the oil changed before giving me the keys. The finance manager tried to tell me I had 3 different social security numbers. I called the social security administration and it was a lie. Very rude. The car salesmen are nice. A Dealerhip that specializes in exploiting people who don't understand finance. Pulled out all the old school numbers shell games but wrapped them in a pretty iPad wrapper instead of an old 4 square. If you dont understand how financing works and you cant be bothered to bring a calculator you WILL get ripped off. My salesperson turned pale when I pulled out my calculator to show them where their numbers were off. After about 3 rounds of that she seemed downright embarrassed but stuck to the party line and all the lies. They aren't honest, you cannot trust them so why would you trust a vehicle you buy from them? Too many other options out there no need to take a risk with an irreputable dealer such as this. Unscrupulous. I am a senior with good credit. They selected a finance company (Santander) that had recently lost a huge Class Action Lawsuit for their predatory lending practices. I was told that since my trade was upside-down down, they had to use this awful company. He specifically said that after a month, I could refi with this company(company doesn't offer refi). Most of the paperwork is done digitally, so that's where much of the fraudulent activity is happening. They offered internal products, hap, appearance, dings, service warranty,etc. I declined all but Gap. The next day sorting through my packet, Not inly was my finance package mortifying, I had also "purchased" every product the dealership offered, totaling around $7000 financed into the predatory loan. I knew that this was not compatible with my lifestyle, and niw I felt like I was dealing with a criminal, so I went back the very next day to get my vehicle back since they have the 7 day guarantee, so of course, I am writing this review because they did not honor that.
