I have been a customer of Echo Drugs for many years. When I learned that the nonprofit landlord was allegedly not providing heat and was attempting to force Echo Drugs out of business, I attended this morning's rally in support of the store at 260 Broadway in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I met and spoke with many of the local employees who could lose their jobs if the landlord moves forward with selling the building for new condominium development. Echo Drugs has long been a trusted neighborhood staple, and it is deeply upsetting to see a small, community-based business and its hardworking employees placed at risk. read more

I had heard so much about Echo Drugs and the incredible work Lev and Ronel Rivkin have been doing for the community over the past 25 years that I decided to stop by in person. I happened to visit on a day when they were giving out free turkeys for Thanksgiving, followed by free toys for children during Christmas, and the experience was genuinely heartwarming. The staff was welcoming, professional, and truly kind. Many of them are local and have been working there for decades, which really shows in how the store is run and how customers are treated. That level of consistency, care, and pride in service is rare. Kudos to Lev, Ronel, and the entire Rivkin family for everything they continue to do for the neighborhood. If you have Diabetes and test your blood sugars, this is an excellent place to get glucose test strips I have tested with lots of brands and at Echo Drugs they have a program where they offer an accurate meter, that you can get 50 strips for under $10.00! I had been paying a $20.00 copay for the One Touch, but now skip that because it also limited how many times I could test. They buy in bulk, they said. So I get my test strips from Echo Drugs. Other than the glucose test strip program, here are other good things: 1) in a former bank, this pharmacy is right at the Marcy Station, easy to get off and back on. 2) Friendly, one guy holds the door for you or helps you load your cart or car 3) They deliver 4) Super-fast pharmacy technicians. 5) Straight answers about medication prices read more

These other reviews must be from people who were either fired from this location or think themselves too important to show a little gratitude to those serving them because I think their customer service is generally great and the staff is friendly. They've always been efficient when I've been there ( which is a lot) and I appreciate their service. I have been going here for my meds my whole life and i would trust no one else. I can't believe that I'm actually writing a review of what is ostensibly a drug store, but Echo Drugs is great! The Marcy stop area is totally starved for any sort of healthy food/snack options, and with the exception of the tree in the Echo Drugs sign, you wouldn't think that this drug store would break the mold. But actually, it does. Surprisingly -- because it doesn't look like a fancy food store/place that is catering to hipters in the neighborhood -- Echo carries a good selection of organic and natural foods at AMAZING PRICES. And actually their clientelle is way more diverse taht just Williamsburg 20somethings from liberal arts schools which is always a good thing. Their yogurt selection is particularly notable (Brown Cow Cream top, Liberte, Fage, Wallaby, etc.), and the prices on that are unbeatable ($0.75 - $1). I actually plan my commute so that I can stop in to pick some up for breakfast. This place is a gem. read more

This is a great drugstore, nice people working here, and it just kind of makes you feel good. They also have kind of an odd assortment of food... a lot of food... one that makes a lot of sense. Kind of how I'd stock my general store if I had one. How would YOU stock YOUR general store? That's good party conversation/ice breaker/good date talk. Once in awhile I used to stop at a Duane Reade if I needed something, if it was on my way, or closest to wherever the need came over me, but I always felt ashamed of myself. But no more! Duane Reade was bad enough, and Walgreens, but now they're the same company, and they'll soon put every small drugstore out of business if you let them. You let them by shopping at them. You fight them by shopping at places like this. read more

Like an idiot, or maybe because it's across the street from my office, I continue to patronize this place. As far as the pharmacy counter goes, you better hope you come in at the right time because if not you'll be waiting for an exceptionally long time. There seems to be no order, no leadership, and when I did once ask to speak to a manager he gave me a, 'I don't know what you want me to do,' attitude. I've asked where to find things & they'll send you in the completely wrong aisle & this place is not large. The girls that work the front counter are nice but you get the feeling they are holding the show together. My office was out of office paper & I went there at 9am, their advertised opening time, & was told I'd have to wait outside in the freezing cold until the pharmacy staff arrived. Seriously. To buy paper. I am way over this place. read more

AVOID THEM! THEY'VE CHANGED I've gone to Echo for years and they were always awesome... they'd fill a prescription in minutes, on the spot, no problems whatsoever. But in the last couple of months, since the staff changes, when I've needed the SAME prescriptions filled, I've had so many problems. If they're not out of the medication, they're short. When you follow up, no one gets the information right and something's wrong or not ready. Every once in a while, okay, but it's aggravating after a few times in a row. What happened? How can you go from GREAT to worse-than-most in a matter of weeks? Believe the 4 or 5 star reviews if you're looking for healthy snacks or vitamins, they have a lot for a small store, but the pharmacy, once fantastic, is terrible now... I don't know about the rest. They're suppose to be a pharmacy first and, there, they lost that personal touch and expertise and competency they had; the management must have changed, because now they can't seem to get anything right and, even worse, they don't seem to care about it. read more

This place is barely ever open, and the people behind the pharmacy counter are unfriendly and act like they don't care

Been here twice, two days in a row, decided to fill all my prescriptions, and do part of my grocery shopping here from now on. Here's why: 1) Extremely friendly staff; 5-6 people I've interacted with all went out of their ways to help me, at one instant even providing me with several days of meds (worth over 10$) until enough arrives to fill my prescription, AND refusing to accept payment for the service. 2) Super fast, too, even during rush hour. Prescriptions that takes about 20 mins to fill in a Walgreens, even during least crowded hours, was filled and handed to me in literally 2 minutes, 2 of them during rush hours at that. 3) Their prices for drugs with generic alternatives are way, way lower than Walgreens, Rite Aid, or other independent pharmacies I've tried. Don't know if that's just a coincidence, but unlikely since it happened with 4 different scripts I'd had. 4) Prices for nutrition bars, high-end beverages etc. are literally 2/3 of Delis in the area, and cheaper than on Amazon. read more

Strangely located under the el /J train onBroadway, this is an intersection of Broadway Bazaar stationary /drug store with decently priced organic foods including cereals, supplements, protein bars and a decently-priced (yes!) yogurt selection that is par excellance. PLUS, they deliver for free over $35. A find that makes the South Side truly the best side. read more

I do see where the reviews here can be mixed I get being upset that they are closed on a Saturday but honest that was never a problem with me. The staff has always been very kind and friendly whenever I have dropped up my prescription they answer any question that I have.  Also their organic section is really great I find this place to be a really nice little family business with friendly staff and a great store to the area.  I am happy to call it my go to pharmacy read more

Worst pharmacy. .I left a prescription to be filled they said one half hour. Ok went grab a bite came back in over 1 HOUR...STILL.NOT FILLLED,...at 5:05Pm.a man came from behind the counter and said my insurance company was called why I don know it's 2015 approval comes over the internet.. He never called them I did from outsideafter being. He told me could not verifie the prescription I was told by my insurance provider he put in through and then reversed it. The rep from my insurance called 3 way the man.says he never spoke to me or knows nothing about this..I was outside I tapped on the window I waved he was that man. They lie I went to another drug store and had it filled in no time.Stay away they are the worst. I would not trust them. read more

TO ALL LADIES, this pharmacy treated me horribly when i tried to go get PLAN B, morning after pill. The young lady working told me I had to get a prescription and that I could not get the pill. I, a woman of 26, know my rights, and said that I did NOT have to get a prescription to get the pill. She said that I did, and then I said by LAW she had to give the pill to anyone over the age of 17 and that they DO NOT need a prescription. Another employee stepped in, they argued loudly behind the counter, where other customers could hear, and then the male employee came out said the young lady employee was stupid and gave me my pill. I told him that what she did is unacceptable. AND IT IS. She should be reprimanded or FIRED for her actions. Anyone who is working behind the pharmacy should know the regulations for PLAN B. Especially because it has been highly debated in the news recently. It is not the pharmacists place to put judgement on someone who wants that pill. What if I had been a naive 17 year old who had been raped? or just someone who didn't know the law? She would have turned me away and I would have felt left without any options, not to mention completely embarrassed by the inappropriate behavior behind the counter. SO PLEASE. IF YOU GO HERE FOR PLAN B! KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. Don't let an ignorant worker make you feel ashamed for doing whats best for your body and life. And please ECHO DRUGS, inform your staff on the legalities of drugs and prescription requirements, i know you can do better than this. read more

a gem, a secret weapon, the place which insures that i am actually able to eat a healthy dinner at home every night. all of the above. as stated in previous reviews this unassuming drug store is in fact a treasure trove of (relatively) inexpensive healthy foods and herbal products, as well as standard drug store wares at slightly less than you pay pay on bedford. my only complaint is that they don't open until 9 and are are closed by 7:30 on evenings, still i don't know what i'd do without them in my neighborhood. read more

this use to be a really great pharmacy with excellent service. in the past 6 months the place has gone downhill fast. the phone rings or you get put on hold forever. they promise to deliver medication and then they do not. the people working inside the store also used to be very helpful and now when you ask where something is located or if they carry the product it is as if you are bothering them. it is such a shame that the quality of this business has changed. i wonder if it was sold. read more
