No, I don't recommend this carrier and let me tell you why. So basically I live on a really old street that has existed for over a century, but for some bizarre reason it's not on Canada Posts autocomplete system so when I go to some websites that use that system when I try to type my address in it won't come up, I have contacted Canada Post about the issue. Anywho I've been living at this same address for almost a decade now and have had a myriad of DSL or cable services, either from Cogeco, start or teksavvy but I did have ebox for a few months with adsl about 5 years ago. So my address definitely MORE than qualifies for service. Anywho I hear that ebox is selling 1 gigabit service in cogeco areas and I am intrigued, I go to their website and long behold my address won't autopopulate in the system, figuring it's because they use canada posts bad autocomplete system for addresses. I type my moms address in which is only a few blocks away from mine and it shows she can get the gigabit service... (at this point I will mention I am a current cogeco customer with gigabit service and was just looking to switch to an alternative). I call up ebox and they ask for my name and then my address.... she tries to punch in my address and it won't come up. I then have to go through the whole song and dance routine with her about how if they are using Canada posts system to autocomplete addresses it WILL NOT WORK. She tells ME 'the customer' to call Canada post myself and fix the issue with them. Reluctantly and annoyingly I call Canada post and they submit a ticket, and then 3 days later I get an email saying ticket complete but they literally did nothing, no issue fixed no nothing 'surprise surprise....'. At this point I call ebox back and try to fully explain the situation with my address (not just my address in particular but the entire street). She asks for my address and then just echos what the previous rep said about my address not being in Canada Posts system and that I don't qualify for service because of it (ironic considering their foot print would be identical to cogeco, start, teksavvy etc). She said 'Their' technicians wouldn't be able to verify if I had service so they couldn't do it (as if they have any of 'their' own technicians...). I literally told her to go to cogeco.ca and search for availability at my address, which she does and then comes back to say that I do qualify for gigabit service with cogeco at my address, and I also persisted to tell her I have had cable service with start as well as teksavvy and I had adsl with ebox 5 years ago. She then googles my street address on google maps and finds it and the street view but all she does is echo that they can't sell me service because my address doesn't come up in Canada posts system. I ask if they have a way to overwrite it since they know I can get service at my address given what I'm telling them and that she just verified availability on cogeco's website. She just says the same thing that because the address doesn't come up in their system that she can't sell me service. Oh, at this point I will mention she's not just saying they can't provide me with gigabit service, she's saying they can't provide ANY service whatsoever (not cable, not dsl.. NOTHING) even though all the other companies can. I was super annoyed at this point mainly because she clearly didn't have access to any REAL ordering method and it's like she was just using their website to submit orders (seriously?? a rep using a customer website) since she couldn't do a manual qualification and order submission. She just kept echoing over and over again about Canada post not having my address in the system. WHAT INTERNET PROVIDER RELIES ON CANADA POST??!!?? CANADA POST HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME GETTING ANY UTILITIES! INCLUDING CABLE OR PHONE. Anywho, I try to give her some feedback that perhaps they need to fix their system and not rely on Canada post to find addresses and she tells me there is absolutely nothing wrong with THEIR system and it's all canada posts fault. I'm sorry lady, but if your system won't allow you to punch in an address manually and will only allow you to enter in an address with Canada posts autocomplete, IT'S EBOX'S LIMITED CAPABILITIES, bell.ca I have the same issue checking service availability as well but at least there I can hit 'can't find address? click here to enter it in manually' and it will work just fine upon manual entry. Serious ebox, take responsibility for your bad system that you have for your reps... they seriously can't do a manual qualification and order? are they really just punching peoples info in on your junk website? read more

Very bad internet providers, I have a 15mbps FTTN and our internet have never reached anywhere near that speed. It's just incredibly low all the time, if you're watching netflix and checking your facebook at the same time it just can't handle it. I should have know from day one when I rescheduled our installation day just to find out the guy had shown up on the original day and installed everything without even going in the house to check if everything was connected ok. Just really bad service and not exactly affordable. Don't waste your time and money. read more

Switched from Teksavvy to Ebox per recommendation of someone who gave them a great name. Still have yet to test their actual internet service as it has taken WEEKS UPON WEEKS to get them to come install or for godsakws let us self-install. We have had the modem and router for WEEKS, they TOLD US to cancel our old service provider and that they would set up installation the same day or within TWO DAYS. After my roommate called them multiple days in a row, for some unidentifiable reason they are STILL not able to tell us when they will be connecting our internet even though we were already told they would do same day. We have already been charged for the materials and first month, but have been without internet for over a week (struggling to contact them, again, for WEEKS.) So incredibly fed up with this service and I haven't even got it yet!! Would NOT recommend Ebox to ANYBODY. Being in online classes and having to deal with their runaround is absolutely infuriating. I had to CANCEL A 6 WEEK LONG COURSE because of their fuck up. Using my data to leave this review right now. Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE. read more

I signed up for Ebox and so far I am impressed with their customer service. They kept me informed and followed up on me throughout the whole transition from Acanac. The worst part about the transfer was trying to get Acanac to cooperate. The initial deadline of April 16 was missed. I rescheduled for May 5th and only on May 11th did the disconnect actually take place. Ebox was great in managing to reconnect me on the same day of the disconnect from Acanac. Right now I am a happy customer. I will update if things change but so far Ebox has impressed me. read more

Instead of helping us identify a problem, the service rep "Patrick" called me rude and pretty much said that wifi cannot work if there's appliances like washing machine or a microvawe is nearby. We were standing right next to the one plugged in router and the up speed was only 20Mbps. Don't waste your time with this company, first their technician failed to show up on installation day and have me standing by the entire afternoon. Then I called the customer service, and they said they can't do anything about it but request another day for installation (which don't guarantee you a date). Asked her for contact info for the technician, can't provide it; asked for the next availability of the installation tech, can't provide it; ask her to contact the tech herself, sorry can't do it. Then she hang up on me! What kind of customer service is that? So now I'm left with no internet, no available date for the tech to come. Am I suppose to stay home all day and wait? Can't tell ya, because the customer service person on the other side of the line hang up! So they charged me $130 (my plan plus installation) for my service and yet fail to deliver it. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I have been fighting for a refund for their internet service, which I never signed up for, after they failed to cancel a service under my ex partner's name, and then continued to bill the service under my name using my personal details and credit card information, without my permission. I was unaware this was happening as they had my ex's email address on the account, and he was getting the invoices. The billing department is just for retention, and emailing them is useless. I have been promised a call from a supervisor which has never happened, and they continue to ignore my emails. Do not go anywhere near this company. They are crooks. read more

I've been with Ebox for some years now for the internet service. This service is stellar. Not to mention their competitive prices. I now also subscribed to the VOIP phone service (switched from Phone Power) mainly due to the USD exchange rate which was getting quite costly. Had some glitches in the beginning for this service with Ebox that lasted more than my patience did and also some issues with customer support. But as the saying goes, all's well that ends well. I'm now waiting for their much anticipated TV service, and will consolidate all three services. read more

I really can't say anything positive about this company. The service is patchy and constantly goes out. The wait times for customer service are long - if your wait is less than 45 min consider yourself lucky. And by the time you speak to someone they are careless and rude. They don't get details right - they managed to get my birthdate wrong and couldn't update my phone number. And sent my modem to a wrong address which now doesn't work. Anytime you call they blame anything but their service. They forget to send bills on time. The only thing they are quick to do is suspend your service - even when it's their own fault for not sending the bill. I wouldn't recommend this service to my worst enemy. read more

Honestly, I wouldn't even give a star if I could. Terrible connection in Toronto: I work from home for a tech company and require internet connection in order to do my job (who doesn't though) and the modem looses connection multiple times a day. I've been calling the help line for Ebox for months now and they tell me that it's connected now so they don't see the problem.... I explain this week that I can't do my job when the connection is unreliable to which they say they'll "schedule a call with someone who will schedule a time to come by and determine whether or not it's a line issue or a modem issue." I work until 4 pm (which I tell them) they call at 3:45... next day, I call back, internet is out. They say they can tell it isn't a line issue as the internet appears to me working. Mind you this is after being on hold for half an hour and I rebooted the modem. Then they tell me they have to see if they can send me a modem with the manager. Manger says yes but I will have to pay for it. We decide it just is my worth the headache and clearly this service doesn't work in Toronto. Switching to Teksavvy. We say we would like to cancel. Tech ram transfers to sales team who says someone will contact us in 24-48 hours to see if cancelling is really what we want to do. We get a call today and they say that they will offer a discount for all the downtime we experienced... on previous calls they couldn't even tell we had downtime so how the heck do they magically see those records now. If you live in Toronto, save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. These prices are not worth it. Update: as I was writing this our internet dropped out again... This is the fifth time today? RETARDED!!! I signed up and it took them 2 weeks to find my condo,... each of the 3 attempts by the technician to come hook up my service I was asked the cross street only to find out he had an address in the east end of Montreal,... my condo is in Vaudreuil/Hudson area, which meant they weren't hooking me up that day. The 4th attempt was successful! Every time I've called them for outage or especially to terminate my service, I waited for a minimum of 30 minutes on hold. I was answered within a few minutes and asked to hold on "a few secs."(didn't realize it meant I was being screwed) but unless you are a potential new customer, make sure you have food and water handy because you'll be hanging on for a while. Take my advice, pay a few extra dollars a month for unlimited and no "limited usage" periods which are the times anyone with a job will be using their service. read more

I have just had my modem installed, I think Electronic Box is great in communication. I get calls from their staff in Montreal for the confirmation, rescheduling, etc. Always pleasant to deal with, I think their staff are helpful and accommodating, at least in my case. Yes modem that was previously used with a different service provider did take some time for it to be released, so that was communicated and expectation was set. All in all I think the process was smooth. read more

I signed up for Electronic Box last month. Installation was done within 6 business days, the billing is clear and correct, everything is working well. Best of all the price is much, much lower than Rogers, Bell, etc. and the speed is good. Switching from another provider might be more of an issue because the other provider has to cooperate. In my case, I was warned that the Rogers tech who would come do the install would call, and if I missed the call the appointment would be cancelled. A bit of a pain, but not their fault! So my experience has been good. I also pay my bill on time (they just bill my credit card automatically), so no issues there, either. They also have a lot of recent good reviews on dslreports. I figured I'd leave a positive review for anyone considering Electronic Box because I think it is the best option if you're sick of being ripped off by the majors. read more

They never sent me any way to send the modem back so instead of doing anything like making sure I wanted to pick up their services when they were ready... They've held my money hostage for 7 months, repeatedly made mistakes that I've had to take time to fix and threatened to take me to collections even though they are due to refund ME. They sure were quick about taking my money from my credit card, but every time I call in to be... I was supposed to have my internet installed on Saturday. I called well in advance to make sure I got the date I wanted. I even called the same week to confirm the appointment. The installer failed to show up on Saturday and EBox has done nothing to remedy the situation. They have no idea when I will be able to get internet and apparently all their supervisors are "busy". I am appalled by their inferior customer service and general inability to get a simple installation completed! read more

NOTE: This review is for ISP services in GTA from Electronic Box not in Quebec. My experience with EBOX was truly terrible and I would definitely not recommend this ISP. Previously, I was with TekSavvy and had a great experience, but they did not provide service to my new building when I moved so had to find a new provider. An acquaintance recommended EBOX and their advertised rates are cheap, and I had had a good experience with TekSavvy as an alternative ISP to Rogers/Bell so I decided to give them a try. On contacting EBOX they promised service was available in my building, took my $120 first month service/setup fee and then continually delayed the installation date for more than two weeks without telling me in advance or why (after I had cleared parts of my schedule for three-day intervals on 2 different occasions to be available for a technician). Each time they failed to show or call, I had to contact customer service myself to sort out what was happening ... although I was offered various excuses it basically came down to "we were too busy" which maybe holds up on one occasion but not multiple. Furthermore their customer service line is very challenging to deal with as support agents have poor English proficiency. They are based in Quebec and although my French is mediocre at best, at some points it was easier for me to converse with the agent in French than have him try to explain something to me in English. When a date was FINALLY available for technician to do install it turned out service was NOT provided to my building after all and I couldn't have gone with them even if I wanted to - again requiring another frustrating call to customer support to arrange a refund. Was without internet for better part of 3 weeks due to this debacle and I still do not have my refund in hand as apparently it takes up to 4 weeks for their accounting department to send out cheques. Overall a truly abysmal experience. Go with TekSavvy if you're looking for an alternative ISP in Toronto or just bite the bullet and stick with Rogers/Bell. read more

I was happy with them until I had to cancel my services. It was an absolute nightmare. It took 50 min to "deactivate" the account. Long story short, anything out of the "standard" was an absolute headache to deal with. I thought I was making a good deal switching for Electronic Box, but in the end there was always some other fees here and there. Employees were very nice, but half of the time they were "in formation". I kept being put on hold so they could speak to their supervisor. Every call lasted from 30 min to more than an hour! I cancelled my services with eBox in April and received an email in August to say that I owe a balance of over $200.00 for not returning the modem..but I had , months earlier. When I contacted EBox with this issue I was told that " there are tons of modems downstairs that have not been identified and that mine may be one of them." I told them that I would not pay the fee until they confirm that my modem is one of those "unidentifiable modems" in the basement. In November, I received a voicemail to say that the account would be transferred to collections. I have never had an issue and did not want this ridiculous incident to affect my credit score so I called immediately and was on the line with Ruslan dantier ... Ruslan put me on hold and after waiting 40 minutes with no update, I called EBox on the other line asking for an update. The agent who answered indicated that Ruslan left work at 2:30pm.. though I was still on hold at 3:30pm. He did not say bye, he did not give me an update, he literally left me on hold as he left work for the day??? DO NOT USE EBOX. IT will cost you a lot more time and money in the end read more

TOTAL RIP OFF COMPANY! I switched over from Videotron to Ebox two months ago. In the two months, I have had to contact them 4 times and a technician had to come twice. Their internet service is completely unreliable. I finally called them to cancel and they now tell me that I am on a year contract. I was never told I was on a contract (except to rent the modem, not for the total services which is what they now claim) an I never received a written contract or any kind of paper work. Even now, they do not have any kind of paperwork to give me, and are saying that the phone conversation I had is a verbal binding contract, nothing else is needed. AVOID THIS COMPANY! Ebox's system for managing installation dates is nightmarish. Their web form didn't offer a date selector (only generic "weekend" or "weekday" availability). I spoke to a rep on the phone who told me I'd be able to select a date after giving my payment info. That was not the case. I included my specific availability in the comment field to ensure it was passed on. They scheduled me outside of that requested time. I called to inform them of their mistake, and their "solution" was to make me wait an additional two weeks. They apparently have no way of negotiating with the installation company on a customer's behalf, which I find baffling and unacceptable. Now I will likely have to take time off work if I want internet in the next two weeks, and I initially booked this two weeks in advance. I really wanted to write a good review, and I was so hopeful when I first called EBOX. But this was truly one of the worst experiences. I spent over an hour on the phone with the customer service agent trying to convince her that my address qualified for these services. After checking with the other department THREE DIFFERENT TIMES she finally was able to confirm that yes indeed my address qualified. I have never fought so hard to become a customer. Then after that I was told that I would have to pay for a router even though the original customer service agent said it was free with the plan I was purchasing. I was annoyed, but it was only $5 so I said, sure go ahead. Then I asked to confirm that I was allowed to cancel the service at any time, which is what the original customer agent told me. This new agent said that was not accurate and that I would be locked into the contract. After more than an hour I just cancelled the order and said goodbye. The short version is this: the price looks great, but this company is disorganized and badly managed, which leads to really bad customer service and misleading information. I can only imagine what might have happened if I actually purchased this service and then had a technical problem. Yikes! read more

We got a call today (more than a week later) telling us we will get it in 6 days which is more than 1 week after what they promised. When we called to get answers and possibly a compensation, we were told that no mistakes were made on their part. At the end of the month, we will have spent over 200$ in fees with our phone companies. Very bad customer service. We got 25$ off our installation fee (which was advertised as half off already). Since getting internet with Electronic Box two months ago I have had all kinds of problems. I have paid for two months of internet, with it working for only about 3 weeks. These problems started with the installation, when they told us the wrong day, so had us waiting at home all day for a no show. Currently, our internet is not working because a cable was disconnected from our main box. Our landlord is trying to work with them to get it fixed but they are doing nothing. An employee came to try to fix it almost 3 weeks ago, but could not. He left without explanation as to why it was not working. He was supposed to return a week later, but did not show up. When we called to ask to put our account on hold until the problem was fixed (since it had been about two weeks of us paying without internet access) they would not even allow this. Further, when we started renting a modem from them (after the one they sold us broke after 6 months of use), they said NOTHING about having to pay 50$ to cancel the rental. Now we have paid around 200$ for two months of internet and the installation that has only been working for 3 weeks, and if we want to cancel the service we are not currently receiving, we have to pay 50$. This company is cheap, but it is not worth it! They have not been helpful, and have been rather uninformative. I am quite disappointed the simple service of cable internet were trying to acquire has been such a struggle. I joined Ebox after a friend at work suggested them for being OK and cheaper than other ISPs, i also later regrettably convinced another friend to get Ebox. I (and my friend) had a DSL line for internet which was OK while it worked. The problem was that often the connection would drop and had to restart my modem to get the connection back up. Called Ebox multiple times and got lame excuses like "Oh... maybe your microwave is interfering..." they had no clue what was causing the problem and eventually suggested that i move to cable which i agreed to but then found out that i have to pay again for a cable modem. So they sell me a service that doesn't work, i paid almost 300$ for a DSL modem that i will have no use for if i switch to cable and they expect me to pay another 300$ now for a new cable modem, spent hours talking to them on the phone for nothing since they didn't care about me cancelling nor did they care to offer anything for the troubles, so i cancelled with ebox and joined Techsavvy and never looked back. BTW my friend that i convinced to get Ebox lived in a different area got the same problems as i did then the same crappy treatment he also cancelled his subscription. read more

Don't go with them! I would give them zero if I could. The worst customer service ... I subscribed with them three days age. The agent checked my address and told they can provide cable services for my address. He gave me two options to buy a modem from them or to use my own modem. I was sent a list of modems which are compatible with their system (I have another modem which was not on the list). I spent half a day checking Walmart, Sears and Best Buy and I couldn't find any of those modems from the list. Finally I found a compatible modem on Kjiji. 45 min driving to pick up and spent $70 for it. Today, I received an email from EBOX saying they cannot provide any Internet services for my address. I called the customer service, talked to an agent and also his supervisor. I told them I already bought a modem that I cannot return. There is no way that you can compensate the time I spent on it, but you have to pay for your mistake. Now I have a modem that I don't need and can't return. Surprisingly, I was told it was my fault that I didn't rent a modem from them!!!! Obviously, it was their system defect or the agent fault that couldn't recognize they cannot provide services for specific address but they didn't accept their mistake. What pisses me off is that if I wanted to cancel with them, for sure, they wouldn't return the activation fee ($50) but because it is their fault they are not going to pay for their mistake. Finally, I was told it take 2-3 weeks to return the money they had withdrawn from my credit card!!!! One of the worst experience I have ever had. Ebox themselves cancelled an appointment and I now have to wait another 7days to get it installed. The date was set without even asking for my availabilities. Aug 16 : I ordered their Cable service (Extreme 20) as transfer from Videotron I was emailed that it would take 3 to 7 days to get an appointment (it is also indicated on their website). During the order process, I had indicated that I needed installation during weekend (they give you time slots to choose) First phone call for an appointment : 12 September (that is to say nearly a month after I pass the order!)- they give me an appointment during the week. OK...let us fix another apointment. They call me back Second call : 15 September. They AGAIN give me an apointment for the week Third call : 19 September: Appointment given at last for Saturday 9-28 Saturday 9-28. The technician comes. He says he works principally for Videotron. After 10 minutes he leaves my home, saying: you should have internet in 3 minutes (why can't he check it????). After 3 hours, no internet. I call the service department. After waiting for approx 1 hour, someone calls me. He says that he cannot do anything because the service is closed (it is Saturday, 1 pm),but I should call back tomorrow. I call again the next day (Sunday), wait again a long time on the phone, and now I am told that they cannot do anything, but that I should check whether the service is working in 2 more days. read more
