I've had Ebox c-Cable service for a couple of weeks now, and am completely satisfied with the product and the value so far. For years I'd been paying for (reliable but over-priced) Bell Fibe DSL internet, to go along with their Fibe TV, but I recently learned that Bell is now allowing so-called stand-alone Fibe TV service. (This doesn't mean you can receive Bell's TV over somebody else's internet, just that you don't have to subscribe to Bell's internet at the same time.) I figured if I could activate the long unused cable connection to my house, I might get a better deal from the TPIAs. As far as I know, there's no FTTH on the horizon, only FTTN DSL, so I could even potentially get better speeds with cable. The big unknown for me was stability and performance of cable in my neighbourhood. I've had Bell internet for many years, so no personal experience, and conversations with my neighbours left me uncertain about the incumbent, Cogeco. I took the plunge and ordered the Ebox 40/10 service with cap of 250Gb, plenty for our needs. I had a conversation with a CSR by phone, during which he suggested that I confirm with Bell that I could really have Fibe TV without Fibe internet. This was a good idea, and I did so. I then entered my order online, requesting a rental modem for now. The modem (TC4300) was received in a few days, and an appointment for installation was provided for one of the days I had indicated my availability. The Cogeco technician arrived on time, and said he had come to "activate" my service. This he did by attaching a new length of coax cable to the existing coax connection from years ago when we used to have Cogeco service. He stated the signal levels were good, and left. This is the only tiny criticism that I might offer regarding the whole setup and install process: I was left to connect the Ebox modem myself, a trivial task, of course, and to verify that the connection to Ebox via Cogeco was working as it should. This went smoothly, but I wouldn't have been very happy if the first attempt to get online with the service had been unsuccessful. It would have been helpful if Ebox had described this process more fully, so I knew what to expect, such as whose responsibility is it to hook up the modem and demonstrate connectivity? I imagine some potential customers who are not as comfortable with technology as I am would have been a bit adrift in this scenario. Regardless, I'm completely satisfied with Ebox to date, and am saving quite a bit over Bell internet, now cancelled. I'm receiving full speed up and down, no observed slow downs at any time of day or evening. All our connected devices, including VoIP phone service, can't tell the difference. read more

I subscribed to Ebox for Internet and Cable and my experience was horrible. I was hesitant to cancel my connection with a major distributor and now I understand how customer service and accountability provided by the major providers is worth the extra money. First, Ebox scheduled an appointment between 5pm and 8pm and the technician never showed up to my house. I missed work to attend the 5pm appointment on time. I then called Ebox's customer service and they weren't able to explain why the technician never showed up. They tried to provide instructions over the phone on how to connect the modem, router and TV terminal. After providing the instructions, they realized that I had no Internet connection from Ebox so they transferred me to their technical support department. After waiting at least 30min, the technical support department told me that I needed to schedule another appointment with a technician which meant that I needed to miss work again not to mention that at this point, I had no Internet and Cable connections. The technical support department put me on hold and never came back to me with an appointment, the line hanged up after another 45min of waiting. I then called back customer service and they told me that I needed to wait for Ebox to call me with other appointment options. In the meantime, I had no Internet and Cable connections. At that point, I had enough and I advised Ebox to cancel my new subscription because I cannot go without Internet connection. After cancelling my subscription and going back to my original provider, Ebox told me that they would charge a 50$ penalty fee for breach of contract because I did not wait for a 2nd appointment with a technician. Seriously? Is this how Ebox does business? How much money did it cost me to miss work and wait for Ebox to provide Internet connection, they needed to charge an additional 50$ fee on top of this?? Do they expect me to pay for this penalty fee without sharing my horrible experience? I am deeply disappointed with Ebox and would not recommend. read more

9/10 I recently switched my internet and phone services from Rogers to Ebox. It took a while to get everything set up right. There were a few things that really annoyed me in the process but in the end I'd give 10/10 for their technical support, 8/10 for their customer service, 8.5/10 for the product, 1/10 for the return department (that handle modem returning at facturation@electronicbox.net) What I like: - Service quality is the same as Rogers - The price is competitive (i.e. the best ever price I could possibly get from Rogers) and it's negotiation free, meaning I no longer need to negotiate price each year like I did with Rogers. (With Rogers it's done every year or every other year, and this year Rogers offered no promotion at the time my contract was up, so my Roger fee for phone and internet went from $73 to $110) - The phone fee is reasonable but not competitive ($19/mo) but considering it comes voice mail, caller ID and call forward, I guess it's a bargain. What I don't like: - The phone line is not a separate line; it goes through the internet cable now. But I guess there is nothing I can do unless I wanted to stay with Rogers or Bell. Words of advice: if you plan to switch, find time to do it when you are not too busy in life, so you can deal with some of the hassles that come with the switching. read more

I've been with eBox.ca for more than 9 years now and have always been delighted with the service. I have referred many of my family and friends to eBox and they are all delighted as well. It's important to evaluate the network you want to be on, I was on DSL before and the DSL speeds were simply not available in our neighborhood until 2019, so it was clear I would have to switch to cable service. As it turns out, cable is more reliable and faster than DSL, it's not on hubs anymore as they were in the 90's, so your cable speed is dedicated to you as it is with DSL. In over 9 years we've only had two short 1 hour outages, these were due to the cable provider and not eBox of course, but these two brief outages were nothing compared to my previous DSL service which was down every couple of months until I called them to fix it every time. Their inexpensive premium telephone service now gives you free long distance to 72 countries for much less than the competitors. I also really like that my bill has remained the same for all these 9 years and the service has been upgraded free to unlimited capacity. Equally importantly, I don't have to worry about unexpected price increases or contracts like I always had to with my previous provider. read more

The customer service is indeed very good. Wait times aren't long and email responses are as promised. HOWEVER, the service itself has been terrible from day 1. I've been a customer for a month now and paying for 75mbps down, but getting around half of that. I was assured that the problem is on Rogers' end, but EBox has done nothing to remedy the situation to my knowledge. No discounts were offered, and no ETA on when the issue will be resolved. I am, afterall, paying for something that I'm not getting. I'm sure there is some legal precedent here, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for a few more weeks. I gave them 3 stars because their customer service representatives are indeed very helpful and prompt in helping the customer. EDIT 11/09/2017: Everything has been resolved. Seems my review has prompted some action by the higher ups at Ebox. Everything is as promised and works great with no slow downs! read more

I had Ebox for 3 years in Toronto and really liked them. There was a bit of a delay setting up and getting the modem as they have to ship it and their offices are in Quebec so they're sending someone else to hook it up. Once it was installed though, I had few complains. There were 3 of us in the apartment, all using internet regularly for streaming and there were rarely speed issues. It never really went down, and if there was a problem a quick reset of the modem usually fixed it. The website is amazingly simple. You login and see a graph of how much internet you have used, how much you have left, and the end date of the current cycle. You can access all bills from there. If you are going to go over for the month, you can pay $5 to add GB to avoid the costly overage prices. I paid under $38 a month for 150 GB which is pretty great. I'm moving to a place they don't service, unfortunately, or I'd stay with them. read more

I spoke to Carl. Its been two weeks. I'm still waiting for him to get back to me. No accountability. A bunch of low IQ untrained employees. Company is in trouble. STAY AWAY. I've been an EBOX customer for two months now and the service has been flawless. I started out with a 10Mbits down/1.5Mbits Up subscription and a month later I asked for an upgrade to 15Mbits down/10Mbits Up and it all went through seamlessly. Coincidentally I found out as I was changing my speed rate that EBOX was providing additional bandwidth for some of their V-cable offerings, which means that my current faster internet (with 200gigs of bandwidth per month) is like 1$ cheaper than my initial slower subscription. Customer service is impeccable, they're very helpful and answer you in detail, no matter how trivial your query is. One employee in particular once gave me technical advice on how to get the best out of my wireless router even though he didn't have to. One of the best technical tips I've ever been given. I decided to subscribe to Ebox internet after years with Rogers. Initially I was reluctant but I decided to proceed. After couple of months of service I can only say that I am very satisfied from Ebox internet services. I got the 75Mbits speed and I have done multiple of speed tests, latency etc. I did not find even once that I am not getting the advertised speed any time of the day neither I had high latency. I would say that my internet looks faster than rogers where I had the 500mbits. Maybe because the internet bandwidth to customer's ratio is better with ebox. Also I called 3-4 times the customer service in order to register my own modem and to explain me few billing questions especially at the beginning and I did not have to wait more than 2-3 mins on the line. The overall service is good and cheaper than the other options. However the online service can be better. Most of the problems that I had can only be solved calling the company, not online. Which is a little counterintuitive considering that this is a tech company. I hate using the phone. Another problem I found is that I bought a modem when I contracted the service. That one came in the mail seemed used (not came in a sealed box with the paper work). I sent e-mails and complain about this and so far no notice or help from the company. But of course the moment I cancelled the credit card I had gave them contracting the service, they immediately sent me emails and called me to tell me that couldn't charge the monthly charge. I would give 5 star if not about those little issues. read more

I strongly recommend never contacting this company. The customer service is terrible. I ordered Fibre 500, but they gave me Fibre 60 instead. When I called to have it corrected, they said they couldn't fix it! I requested a specific installation date, but they changed it to another date without informing me. I had to call at least five times for each mistake they made, and none of the issues were resolved. Ultimately, I decided to cancel the service rather than deal with more headaches. They even charged my account before the service started, and when I requested a refund, they said they didn't have access to issue a credit. They told me they could send a refund cheque, but it would take three weeks to process! This company is a scam -- avoid them at all costs! read more

Works OK, no disconnections. I can't say that it is fast enough. I thing sometimes it feels slower than usual, but that's just subjective, no tests done there. Getting to be connected took a lot more than I was expected. To get signed to the service I had to go to a place outside the city where there is no free parking. I think I paid 8$ for 10 minutes I stayed there. I suppose it will be easier and even cheaper to let them ship the modem to you. And paying for the modem each month? That I think is just cheap, it should be offered free of charge and be returned to them when out of contract. read more

I've been with Ebox now for 2 month and they've been a complete breath of fresh air compared to any of the big name providers. I got my modem only a couple days after ordering the service online. The customer service rep I dealt with about my first payment was courteous and easy to talk to. He answered all my questions on the spot with no hesitation. The pricing alone is worth switching providers! Lastly and most importantly, not once have I noticed any major slow down in bandwidth during peak hours. I stream on 3-4 TVs at any given time and have yet to have any issues. Thanks Ebox! read more

I have been using Electronic Box for over 2 years, i have never had any issues. I used to be with videtron cable, and i switched to save money to their Cable service, the change over was quick, and didn't take more than a day. I would give it 5 out of 5, but i have 2 'issues' - 1- a tech has to come, even if it's just to unplug my cable from the videotron box, and plug it to my new modem. 2- billing is always for the coming month, so you pay ahead for the coming month. Other than that, i've had good customer service, quick answers where there are issues, and good tech support! read more

When we first signed up the initial month we had issues. It took a week to get it installed and then we had issues getting it connected. We kept losing connection but found out it was our CISCO router/modem combo. They sent us a new one (different model) and it works so much better. The service rarely if ever goes out. I'd say 99% of the time it's great. The service reps are good and helpful even though it's a Quebec company, it's good even in Ontario. read more

Recently switched from Bell. was a very long long customer from Bell. Very happy with Ebox from the get go. Account setup, Line installation transferred from bell (Bell Tech did installation), Internet reliability, speed, package options all A+ in my books. Great 3rd party ISP option. Very happy with them so far to date. Would highly recommend as an alternative to the very expensive BIG name providers. Excellent job Ebox !!!! read more
