Starting to get internet from Ebox was one of the worst mistakes I made in my life. After one year of service with Ebox, my internet started to be really unstable and even disconnect. I tried to solve the problem with the technical support and it was there that I started in a neverneding labyrinth that never solved my problem. At the end I decided to cut my service with Ebox because I work from home and internet is essential to my daily life. In a call with customer service, they asked me to return the modem. I told them that Ebox has taken enough time of my life in customer service. so They said they will send a parcel with the adress of the Ebox so that I can put my modem inside and post it. I never recieved any parcel. After 2 years, I recieved a note from a collecter agency to my new adress that I owe 325 dollars. When I called Ebox, they told me if you did not recieve the parcel you should have done a followup. So basically 2 years after ending my contract with them, they still managed to bother me because of their own disorganization. so finally I returned the modem(When I went to return the modem, there were a lot of other modems there and the guy asked me if I am there to return a modem. That was were I understood Ebox is applying this policy to a lot of people to get money). I also called customer service again to pay the difference and get rid of Ebox for the rest of my life. The agent told me that she cannot make me pay that day and she will call me later. she never called me again. So frightened that I fall again in the same situation, I called back again and finally payed a money that I should have never paid to them just to get rid of them. So this is my evaluation of Ebox: Harassing unresponsible Agressive disorganised unrespectful(I still cannot believe they send a collecter agency after me without warning me) So if you are willing to have internet from Ebox, please think twice since you are entering a very unrespectful disorganized company that can manage to harass you years after ending your contract with them. read more

This was the worst customer service experience I've ever experienced. Ebox incorrectly wrote my new address when I moved, and it took them 1 full week just to give us a new date for the installation, which would put us 2 weeks past the original date agreed on. Customer service was extremely frustrating, hostile, and inconsistent. I kid you not, I was called a liar by their own representative. Their telephone costumer service is terrible. A bunch of low IQ untrained employees who do not know anything. I had a hardware problem and they had to call Bell to send a technician to my place. I had to waste 2 half a day on the phone explaining to their employees one after another to make them understand this and tell them what to do. To be honest, I should be a little more kind by providing a few stars for their customer service. Never on hold long, very nice representatives who want to help and care for your situation, However, The company as a whole is my problem. I was told that they will move my wifi to my new address in a week and I had to pick 3-4 days and time frames I would be available. So for Tuesday morning I stayed at home morning I stayed at home waiting with no result or communication. Wednesday came and around 10 am, a man came and started working with the outside connection of my apartment. He didn't finish the inside and said he would be back in two hours (now 10:30am) so I expect and wait until 12:30, still no one came back. I called customer service and sent a complaint, etc. Around 1:30 still no one. 2:30 I give another call and was told that between 12-5pm today he could arrive. That is now 10 hours I have to sit in my house while I have a ton of more important things to do and work at 4:30. Anyway, Still waiting and if they are not here by 4, I'm finding a new company. I warned them of this so let us see how much they care about the customer. Actions speak louder! Also, side note that the installation crew is not part of Ebox so they told me it is not ebox's fault. Let's start by saying, they lost a new customer today. I called today asking if Ebox can provide a cable internet to an address in Ottawa. They said, Yes! My reaction was Hurrayyyy!!!!! But didn't last too long. I asked, which infrastructure they will use in that address? Because the same modem offered on Amazon for $94 while on Ebox for around $130 (I will save around $37). But on Amazon, the modem is prefixed with Roger, Show, and 2 more options, so I needed to know so I can buy the right modem. I was switching from tecksavvy to ebox to save few bucks. But ended up loosing much because of their careless service. I enrolled for ebox service on 26 August 2020. I got charged for service and MODEM DELEVERY charges on same day. Service was suppose to start on 6th of September. and i was waiting for modem. On 4th of December i realised that there is something wrong as did not hear from them regarding Modem delivery. so i called them they told me i was suppose to pick up modem which was sitting 500 km away from home. even after charging 15$ for delivery. so stupid. even at that time they insured me that i will get my modem before 6th (in 2 days). i said ok. and waited. still no email from them about shipment. Finally on the day of installation which was 6th. they created ticket for my shipment. really? when they were suppose to start my service they are shipping my modem. so careless behavior. so again on 7th i called them to know the status. as delivery service agency wasn't showing any information online. Say they told me that i will get on 8th. i requested them to try deliver in first half, so i can able to start my office work. they didnt promised me that. so i asked them to cancel my service and refund my money. on that after keeping me hold for more than 1 hours he told me that i willl get on 8th for sure. I just suscribe to Ebox hopping to get rid off Bell. I subscribed 3 wks ago and bought the modem and the reuter. When i contracted i was told that they will confimr the date the technicien will go to my home to install the equipement. I offered to passe by their store to pick up the equipement because during the moving period i m not alway at home to receive it. One week ago inreceive an email saying that my service was activated. (???!!!) Im not event take posetion of the house. When contractin i specified that i would move on the 12. And the 7 i receive my first invoice ?????? When i went to pick up the equipement the young lady couldnt understand what was heppening She said she didnt know about the installation. I tried to explein to her what i was told but she said that her collegue was the one to know about those subjects. There was somme people waiting at the store and I prefered to get out and call latter. What i saw is a couple of apparently endry clients retourning their equipement. I put in my postal code on the EBOX website 2 weeks prior to moving to check if Ebox provided internet service to my new area. It said it did and so I ordered the service. They sent me the modem, charged my credit card over $100 and THEN a day before I moved, called me to tell me that they did NOT provide service to my area. I returned their modem in person to the store and asked for my money back. Their "policy" is to return the money via a cheque in 4-6 weeks. THEY made the mistake, they took my money right away, but I have to wait 6 weeks to get my money back from them in 2022?? Unacceptable. Not to mention, I had to scramble to get internet service from another provider so that I could do my work at my new residence. I do not recommend doing business with this company until they can provide better customer service. I am still waiting to get my money back... read more

We were on their DSL service for a while, which was so poor in terms of speed and stability that we frequently had to use our mobile hotspots in order to get online (and these problems seemed to pop up every time we had something crucial to do work-wise). After complaining about this issue for months, Ebox offered to switch us to their cable service for a small increase in our monthly fee. The switch was anything but smooth. It took nearly two months to finally get the cable internet going, but during this transition period we were charged for both the DSL service and the cable service. Sorting out the mess and the various transition issues took hours on the phone--I'd guess about 12 hours if one cares to add it all up. A huge headache overall, and we have yet to be reimbursed or provided credit for the hassle we've had to deal with. Having said all that, the customer service folks are well-meaning and don't intend to give you a hard time. The problem it seems is structural and competency-based. Our internet is working finely now, but it most certainly has not been a smooth ride. We would be happy to revise this review if Ebox reached out and offered credit and reimbursement. read more

I've been with EBOX for almost 5 years now at my home. Honestly, they provide really good service, the wait time on the phone isn't long and will do what they can do help you out when the internet is slow (if ever). The price is somewhat competitive (they are cheaper options) but the service more then makes up for it. Speed is constant, no throttling, cable reliability. HOWEVER - recently I tried to open a 2nd account for my business and it's been a complete FIASCO. Goes something like this...the website will tell you that cable is available in the address you input. After you sign up and go get the modem and all, they come back and tell you they aren't sure if it is available and must send a engineer to check if it is available. If it is, no cost to you. If it isn't then you are the one covering the cost to the tune of 200$. Seriously? "We can't guarantee that there is cable even if we said there is... but here's an engineer and if it there isn't... you pay 200$! Ha... Anyways, after a week of time wasted, they suggested ADSL and gave me a comparable plan. PERFECT! and.... nothing for 1 week after agreeing to the contract and getting invoices to my email. So I call after a week asking where is my modem and what is my install date, they tell me the order didn't process because they screwed up! Instead of giving me a Business plan, they gave me a Residential plan and didn't bother to tell me! Well, there goes another week! Thanks for letting me know EBOX. They sent me a bad modem, it took 4 calls for them to finally replace it. For my troubles, they promised to provide me with a discount and promised to upgrade my service. The discount was never applied to my account, and my service was instead cut off for 24 hours. When I called back to point this out, they promised me a second discount (a measly $15). Garbage customer service, they continuously transfer your call to more people who know nothing about your contract or what to do about it. I've been with them for 2 years now. I called 2 weeks before my move date to cancel my service, a few days later (more than a week before the date I confirmed to cancel the internet) and quelle surprise, no internet. An hour and a half on the phone being transferred to and from several customer service and technical support agents, who each say something different, I finally get a supervisor on the line who tells me they disconnected my internet early and can't reconnect it. They ever so generously offered to not charge me for the week and a half I was supposed to have internet, after stuttering about late invoices (every single payment has been on time through automatic payment.) I would strongly recommend avoiding ebox. They are extremely late with installation (it will be almost three weeks before we have internet). I am thoroughly unimpressed with their ability to accommodate within a reasonable time frame. They give an estimation of 3 to 14 days for installation and ours will be 21 days. read more

If I could give zero or negative stars for these guys, trust me, I would. As Bertha F. said, dealing with Electronic Box is nothing short of a Kafkaesque nightmare. After doing lots of research, I was under the impression that anywhere that had Vidéotron wiring could get signed up for Electronic Box and save some money. That said, with cheap services generally come less than stellar customer service, so I came in here prepared for a less than smooth experience, what I got instead was quite perhaps the most epic of all corporate clusterf*&ks that I have ever had. I called EB on a Monday to enquire about residential internet for my new condo. After much hemming and hawing, referencing various maps and talking to a manager or even two, my EB rep tells me that no, sorry, they cannot do my install. They said that although my building may well be wired by Vidéotron already, that records had not been updated and unless I was willing to pay an engineer 100$ for an exploratory look, then I was S.O.L. Fannnntastic. Cue Saturday morning around 9am and I receive a call from my pal at EB. He says something along the lines of 'Gee, I hope that you haven't found an internet provider yet, because I've been doing some digging and it turns out that YES, we totally can do an install for you as you are now on the Vidéotron list!' Great, now I am pretty pleased. I spent the 30 minutes on the phone and let my glorious breakfast go cold in order to set up my new account, make the first payment, etc. etc. Tuesday late afternoon though, I get a phone call from some other dude at EB. He says "So, can you tell me where the account stands now?" This is kinda weird, but I tell him all of the above and then he says "Well, I am sorry about the misinformation that so and so gave you, but what he did was in fact very wrong and we simply cannot do your install". Are you freaking kidding me right now? Not only that, but the payment has already shown up on my credit card, but these clowns can't do a refund that way, so now I must wait 6-8 weeks for a cheque to come in the mail from these asshats. The frosting on the cake had to be this EB clown chirping up his his obnoxious sing-songy voice "Despite all of this, I hope that you seriously consider doing business with Electronic Box in the near future, as we'd love to have you as a customer!". Great price but they have no power over the line they use. For this reason, they may promise you something or a date of service but this means nothing. I did DAILY follow-ups, sometimes twice for 5 days to higher my speed limit. They kept telling me in wouldn't take long without actually making follow-ups. Then at one point, they just told me it had never been approved! During the 6 previous follow-ups, nothing was really done. It was just talk no follow-ups were done. When I wanted to move to a new address, I told them 2 or 3 times to check to make sure it was only the evening of the 27 and not the afternoon.. They gave me the afternoon. The price is great but dealing with this is not worth it. You follow-up all the time to verify things will get done. Things don't get done, you only waste your time. read more

Wow, what a cluster f**k! If you're planning to switch your cable ISP from Vidéotron to Electronic Box, expect a kafkaesque nightmare. Electronic Box is currently unable to clearly communicate the steps involved in the switchoever. Nearly every day there was a new surprise or an inctruction that conflicted with a prior instruction. Looking back, the swithover was actually rather simple & straigtforward. Why they don't bother to create an simple step-wise WRITTEN switchover guide for new customers is beyond me. Once installed, their service works as promised. However, if I weren't such a cheapskate, I would have stayed with Vidéotron. I would not recommend this company. When I moved they gave a date to come get it hooked up but they didn't show and said they had no record of saying they would (I had an email...) and it took over 2 weeks to get hooked up. Months later, I still have problems. Near daily outages in peak hours. Slow to answer calls. Now my internet has been out over 24 hours and they seem to say there is nothing they can do. With my last roommate we had teksavvy and never had a problem that couldn't be solved by resetting the modem. Will be switching back as soon as possible. read more

I'm at the end of my rope with Ebox. When I first signed up with them, they offered me the choice of using their modem/router combo or buying my own. I opted to use theirs, a Smart RG model. This turned out to be a mistake, as my service quality suffered due to their equipment. Speeds were slow and videos took forever to load. Even certain websites wouldn't load up. I called tech support and they suggested maybe I had a broken router, so they sent another one. When this one arrived, it wouldn't even turn on. I called again and it turns out they had sent me a used router that was already broken (???). I wish I was making this up. They told me to send it back and they would send another one. When the third router arrived, it had all the same issues of the first one. Slow speeds, etc. I called tech support and told them I would be sending back all three of their Smart RG router(s) and would be buying my own. THIS solved the issue - not 2-3 weeks of going back and forth with their tech support. They could've just told me their equipment was unreliable in the first place. I then had to move apartments and asked them to send a technician to switch my service ($80!!!). My internet was working fine for a few days, then I started to experience service interruptions. It never lasted long until one morning when the service was completely out. I called tech support and they told me I'd have to wait another 5 days for a Rogers tech to come and fix my connection. I had enjoyed a total of 5 days of spotty service at my new place before this issue. Ebox - Great pricing and speeds (when your connection is working properly), but their customer and tech support leave much to be desired. Count on waiting at least 20 minutes on hold every time you have an issue, and much longer during peak times. Use at your own risk and make sure to buy your own router! read more

After making an appointment roughly a week following charging my credit card, and after waiting for five hours in their designated block of time, no one ever showed up, no one called me, and no explanation is available. Preface: The only GOOD things about this company are Matt in the IT department (the one clever rat on the drowning ship) and whoever I spoke to that managed to convince me to go with Electronic Box. Setup: Took more than a week to get my service connected, the modem I purchased from EB was delayed in shipping (wasn't told it was delayed and was never even brought up - when mentioned on the phone they basically shrugged their shoulders) Calling to get help: This service must have two guys sitting in a break room somewhere with old phones. It takes forever to speak to anyone, and when you DO they have very little idea about what they can do to help you. Them asking for your information to access their file is virtually useless - as it takes them 1 to 2 minutes of near silence to read it over then have no suggestions as to what they can do to help you. They ask the most basic questions when the user clearly has more IT knowledge than they do (ie. is your modem plugged in?) and they're often very condescending. "I'd like to speak to a manager": Nope. They don't exist apparently - or if they do there's one guy somewhere handling all of the complaints. I called today at 3:30pm on a wednesday and was told there were no managers anywhere on the floor. How is that possible? Who is running the business? "I'd like to be reimbursed for the lack of service and my time spent constantly on the phone": All you get is a "Oh we will we will, we can discuss that when your internet problems get resolved" So. Never, basically. "When is the technician coming to check my extremely choppy/slow speeds?": Apparently between Never, and never. I had put in three tickets (every time I called in they "regretably" told me that the previous ticket hadn't actually been filed but that they'd be " doing it now" and "apologized for the delay". What delay? You just lied to me and told me something was going to happen, then it didn't. Because you never actually bothered to put the ticket in, and were lying to me the last time I spoke to you on the phone! The last ticket filed told me a tech was supposed to be at my home between 11-2pm. that tech just never showed up. Having just spoken with a rep on the phone, and having been assured that I'll be getting a call back within 72hrs (WTF?), I know I'll likely either never receive a call or will miss it, and will have to call back and wait another 72hrs to speak with that one grumpy guy in the back that's dealing with EVERYONE'S problems, somehow. Yelp should allow ZERO scores, because that's what they'd get from me. DEFINITELY. HORRIBLY unprofessional behavior when it came to "installing" our internet services. Still do not understand to this day what "installation" from outside of the apartment needed to take place given that we had the modem and we were told we would have to plug it in ourselves anyway due to Covid-19 restrictions. SoI placed an order over the phone for 250 mb/s internet at my new apartment on August 21st with September 1st installation planned (so plenty of time). I was told that I would receive an email 2-3 days before the 1st to confirm the installation date by a third-party installation crew. Then proceeded to pick up our modem in the Longueil store the week before September 1st. Moved in on the 1st, tried to set up the modem and it did not work so we called Ebox. They then had the audacity to say they tried to contact me by phone and tell me that they messed up when I first placed the order because the speed chosen is not actually available at my apartment unit (and I would need to verbally accept a lower speed offer). So they apparently called me twice to tell me this and since they did not get an answer, they CANCELLED our installation appointment request and we got pushed back an insane amount of time. They should have the common sense to have emailed me as well as phone.... So now the agents put in a new installation request and continued to say they can't promise any dates because it's through a third-party. I called every day until September 6th to get answers as to what was taking so long and every time they put the blame on the third-party and how they need to answer the request. September 6th comes around and still no email which is ridiculous. I call Cogeco, place an order with them, and cancel with Ebox. Never again Ebox, learn how to provide better customer service otherwise you'll go bankrupt!!! read more

I heard good things about Ebox, so I wanted to give them a go to support a smaller internet company. My first experience with them was pretty good - I signed up for a 50mbit FTTN DSL connection and installation, activation, shipping of the modem, etc was all good. Saying the modem/router they provided was mediocre would be a generous statement, though. That said, internet service worked well for a while, and I was reasonably happy with it. A few months later I decided I'd like to upgrade to cable internet (250mbit) with them just because it'd be nice to have faster speeds. Doing this for some reason created a brand new account, which was weird. Using your own modem costs $20 for literally no reason. Installation was an absolute nightmare - I got only like a day notice that the tech would be coming by, and the appointment window was 8AM-5PM. I waited literally all day for the tech to show up, and they never came until around 6PM, after I had given up and left for work for the night. After that, it was nothing but issues. Constant massive technical problems - the modem not activating on the network for like a week, wasting time on my plan that I'd paid for, the internet permanently slowing down to a fraction of the speed I was paying for, etc. Customer service for technical issues over the phone is useless and garbage, like half the CSRs have no idea what they're doing and even using the English support line you'll often get people with very heavy French accents to the point that it is difficult to understand one another. Submitting a ticket is more useful but it literally takes them over a week at times to even respond, which is absolutely ridiculous. They never offered any kind of bill credit for the internet being useless the whole month and never even resolved my issues. After flailing about with the cable internet for the whole first month and renewal coming up, I decided to cancel all of my services with Ebox and go with another company instead. This is when I found out (for the first time) that apparently modem rentals are on a 12 month commitment and thus that if you cancel early you are liable for up to $50 in fees - and then you have to pay to ship the equipment back to them on top of that. Overall this company is just absolutely horrible. Until you have to deal with customer service it seems like a good deal, but in no universe is it worth the risk of getting hung out to dry as they refuse to help you properly when you can go with a competitor and get a similar (or better) deal on internet but get actual customer service with it. read more

My wife called to request the technician to call her before he shows up as I was at work. My spouse called twice to confirm that they would call her instead of me. The agents also confirmed that the technician will show up even if nobody picks up the call. On the installation day, I got 6 miss calls. When I saw the miss calls, I requested my wife to call Ebox and to her surprise, the technician had the number (based on Ebox agent), but never called her or showed up. They told her that tue technician can't show up anytime soon eventhough it was their fault and it needs to be rescheduled for next week. Meanwhile, I am left with no internet for three days. When I called to tell them, they just said why are you even calling when you canceled the plan. I called them to ensure that their customer service agents are properly trained. They have extremely long queue, make sure you have to spare on the phone. Good luck. read more

Worst service ever, they paid themselves 2-3 times a month and keep telling me it was impossible because of their "system" took 8 month and a call per 2 weeks to finally get rid of the charge and get reimbursed. they keep telling me for 8 months that i was lieing before they figure out that their "system" was making mistakes.. Never been so piss off at a cie. NEVER EVER AGAIN i prefered paying double the price with videotron and being charged only once a month and not having to deal with their "system" ever again.
