"Closing time
you don't have to go home
But you can't stay here"
(Semisonic)
Eblens started out when two friends (Ebner and Leonard) collaborated to open a clothing store in New Britain in 1949. Their modest store grew into locations in five states, with 18 in their home state of Connecticut.
But in mid June, it was announced that the entire chain is closing.
We visited the Westfarms Mall location today, and saw a big colorful selection of sneakers, athletic clothes, hip hop fashion, streetwear, etc. I saw plenty of big time brands like Nike, Adidas, Jordan, Fila, Timberland, Puma, New Era, Champion, Polo, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, The North Face, and Kappa.
Their selection of team licensed/team logo'd ball caps was amazing- there were easily a hundred different hats on the main wall behind the sales counter. I had a nice chat with a guy meticulously shopping for the "right" Yankee hat he wanted to wear for a trip to NYC.
There are plenty of sales going on now, and we found a nice one- some beautiful color T shirts. They were V -Necks and Crew Necks priced at $6.99 and $7.49.
We bought four of them for a shade over $30.
Bottom line? Hustle over there and check them out before they close their doors forever. read more
