I poked around the Internet - Holiday bargains abound - for "normal-shaped" people. Sadly, my legs and arms are on the short side of normal, and I'm fat. Buying pants or a sport coat *always* involves alterations. I haven't bought anything pret-a-porter in a long, long time. Men's Wearhouse to the rescue! I nearly ordered on-line, but I wasn't certain what my exact inseam would be, AND they offered a cool deal if I decided to pick-up in-store. So off we went. I was greeted immediately. I told the clerk I was there for a pair of fat pants. He was re-assuring and extremely helpful. The pants I saw on-line were available in my waist size. I tried them on, was chalked - and hemmed with a cuff-hem in about fifteen minutes. They actually said it would be great to wait; therefore, I walked out of the store with one pair, and said I'd come back for the other pair. It's really cool to know that the turn-around is so fast! Essentially it means that I can now buy clothes same-day. I've paid a lot more for Brooks Brothers, several bespoke tailors, and a fancy Hartford men's store - and for all that money I waited for alterations - at times, weeks. And the service was nothing special. This store excels on service and price - quality feels and looks very good, but we'll see after I've worn my purchases and had them cleaned. When I go to pick-up my other pair of pants, I'll buy at least one suit and one sport coat. They showed me a very nice pair of shoes I like, too. Don't take the awful reviews of this store and these kind employees to heart. All of the upset people are wedding participants. She's like oh yeah we are in the process of marking them down! So glad I grabbed them, with my Calvin Klein dress that day! I also found some jeans I love that are consistently about $40 at Nordstrom Rack, and they were $30 here. In the past I've purchased some nice purses, sunglasses and shoes. Occasionally they'll have an additional 20% off of their red tag items, for me that's the best time to get a great deal on something I've been eyeing. Otherwise, I think most items are overpriced here, designer or not. I like going into this store anyway, it has a nice layout, friendly staff, and easy returns if necessary. The store manager Adam saw us and let us know that he'd be with us in 5 minutes and he was so super busy that he apologized for having to "keep us waiting". We are not those people who huff and sigh over not being fawned over immediately- we told him to not stress and to take his time finishing up with the other customers. We recognized how busy they were and just used our time to explore tuxedo options. When Adam finally did return to us, we already had picked out what tuxedo and shoes we wanted and all he had to do was color match the tie, pocket square, measure and we were good to go! I am giving a major shout out to Adam- I had a special situational request that he took care of without hesitation and he was so awesome to work with.
