It's wonderful to interact with them at farmers' markets and Earth Day fairs and so on, but Tim Armstrong at EYYJax also opens the farm up to the city. If you haven't made a trip out, please plan to do so. Tim gives tours at times. He's always good with advice. Whether at local markets and fairs or at the farm itself, you can buy a wide variety of edible plants it's hard to find elsewhere in the region. Going here is like going on an old fashioned field trip! Tim, the owner will approach you as soon as you step on the property with a friendly hello. As you stroll the grounds he will come by and tell you all about the plants and pick some for you to even taste. He is so friendly and knowledgeable and makes the experience so fun. I want to start a medicinal & tea garden and he is so helpful for when and what to start. I tasted this really weird tasting plant that tasted like Chinese mustard and I'm floored this exists! Im so addicted. They have an area now that has chickens and pigs and medicinal plants growing. It's just a whole experience to go. I love that they employ ones with disabilities as well as support the community in that way. This is one of Jacksonville's total gems! read more

First - the knowledge of the people here is amazing. We had a lot of questions and needed some guidance. I want friut trees, but didn't know what care and needs were. They spent the time to walk through the things we would need and really explain the care needed. They had a great selection and all things that could easily grow in North Fl! This was my first stop on a farm tour event. I found that this place is run by people who are passionate about this cause. I talked to a few volunteers who love being at one with nature here. They made some fresh persimmon ice cream, which was a memorable part of our stop here. They do sell plants, and I found a mulberry bush/tree, which was one of my purchases. I hope they continue with these kinds of events, as I really enjoyed being here. read more

Came to purchase some bamboo and there was limited supply but the plant hoarder still managed to drop a few hundred on other plants that absolutely needed new homes. Please don't ask me what I purchased but I did and let's plant flowers cause they make everyone happy. Strongly suggest anyone in town or close to come and visit this magical place. read more

This place is absolutely magical!!! It feels like a woodland wonderland. All of the staff is incredibly helpful. Everything is native and grows well in the Jacksonville area. I have to restrain myself from visiting once a week because I love it so much! I found the prices to be very reasonable and there were multiple staff members ready to give me advice since I'm a novice gardener. The staff also picked out the most amazing smelling lavender variety for me that I am obsessed with. I highly recommend a visit! read more

Can I say, "Tim Armstrong is my hero?" Wow. This guy's farm is pretty darn impressive and that comes from an ag alumni and whose parents have their own small persimmon and pomelo farm [among other things they grow]. Apparently, he is also instrumental in the success for Berry Good Farms which is a terrific location benefiting a lofty cause. You have to check out this space and all of the things growing there. It's a little bit out of the way for some, but well worth the experience and the amazing variety of plants grown and sold here compared to most other nurseries in the Jacksonville area. Plenty of rare annuals and perennials! We picked up some mulberry trees ($6 & $20) and a blueberry plant ($6) and even got to sample some mulberries from their mature plants. What I also wanted to buy was all of the varieties of persimmon trees ($30), olive trees ($30), and rare edibles that you'll be reluctant to find seeds for online much less live plants. I'm so happy I got my Okinawa Spinach ($2-5) and Longevity Spinach ($2-5) both of which are perennials and grow year after year. If you are a gardener, this place is like Heaven. They also participate in local farmers markets like Wednesdays Art District Farmers Market and the Jacksonville Beach Green Market on Saturday afternoon which is a great way to purchase some of the plants that they grow at the farm. And the prices are so reasonable @ $2-10! Overall, what a great concept with frequent educational workshops and events hosted right there at the farm. I just want to buy everything Eat Your Yard Jax has available, but lack the space and, most probably, the work ethic. LOL. Thank God they have helpers/employees at his nursery. Zack was our tour guide and super knowledgeable, but Tim is just a plant god and gardening guru. What an amazing place on the westside... read more

On Saturday, we ventured out into the middle of nowhere to Eat Your Yard, a plant nursery and hippie agricultural landscape. It's a little sketchy driving down the long, narrow dirt path, but once we reached the finish line, we were greeted by one of the workers behind the operation. The greatest aspect of the brand is that they care deeply about their community involvement. They are striving to empower locals to support local agriculture but also practice it sustainably at home. Luckily, our tour guide showed us the entire operation. Everything from various types of spinach to dozens of blue tilapia, to more succulents than one would know what to do with, this place was really freakin' neat. They offer unique workshops and classes and offer tours on the weekends. Eat Your Yard is definitely an educational experience that folks of all ages can benefit from. In theory, this place is great. Who doesn't want all organic edible plants to grow in your garden? The reality is a bit more disappointing. What you see is not what you get. We purchased cucumbers that turned out to be luffa sponges. We also purchased zucchini that were diseased- all the way from the very seed. And the bell peppers never fruited. The plants available for purchase are not tended to well and are dry, straggly and full of holes. While we were here we overheard someone ask if they had anything more "exotic." Perhaps this place is more medicinal in intent. While the gentleman who owns EYYJ is lovely to talk to and seems very knowledgeable, and it is fun to look at the few chickens and ducks they keep, I will not be returning here. read more

Eat Your Yard Jax - Attraction Farms Near Me - Jacksonville, Florida

I went as part of the Tour de Farm experience yesterday and went home with a cute little succulent for $4. Although they've got a great array of plants - succulents, specifically - I felt overwhelmed. Six of us were touring the farms together yesterday, and we all felt generally lost and confused as we tried to navigate the farm. It's extremely organic and free-flowing but also seemed disorganized. If you're looking for succulents or a reason to get lost in the woods for a little while, definitely check these guys out! I just had a hard time navigating what was for sale, what was off-limits, and what was personal property. read more

We enjoyed a great tour and learned about a number of edible and native plants we look forward to incorporating in our home garden. Delivery is available for a nominal cost within the beltway. There are many plants here that are not generally available at commercial nurseries, and Tim shared his encyclopedic knowledge graciously. I visit this farm for the first time about a couple of weeks ago. I think it's open two days a week. I took my car (that won't happen again!. it's way, way back off the rd (wooden thru out your drive to the farm itself) The road is dirt and full of potholes. I didn't see anything, as I grow a lot of veggies myself, no prices on any of the plants, not much help given, so I left. I will try it again, maybe that was an off day, as I would like to view the farm and really see what they have to offer. I will take my tuck next time and if you decide to go, take a heavy-duty vehicle! read more

I absolutely love this place! They were at the farm so I was welcome to come in and shop. Everyone was so helpful, knowledgeable, and kind.
