I heard several good things about this place and was super excited to try it. The concept is great, and the service was spectacular. Our waiter, Sam, was awesome, and every employee we encountered was very nice and polite. Service was truly 10/10. However the restaurant is very niche. They don't offer a full bar, the wine selections were subpar, and the menu felt somewhat limited. I also think the overall experience would be elevated with a full bar. Our drinks were served with fake plastic flowers instead of fresh mint which felt like a strange touch for the type of experience they seem to be going for. Overall, the food was fresh but just okay for me.

We recently had a very relaxing afternoon dining at and walking around Congaree and Penn! We've been meaning to go here for quite a while because several of our friends had recommended this spot as a great destination to dine at and mosey about on a date. Luckily we had a sunny day which also didn't include too much heat. What stood out for us with regards for food was how fresh the meals were, in addition to the variety of healthy options. It's evident that they put in a lot of care and time into their food, and it certainly showed and tasted as such! After the meal you can also walk around on the nearly endless land they have which may include some live music and good vibes. Will be excited to come back again!

Took a leisurely ride out to the farm and sat in a rocking chair and drank the most wonderful cider! It was galleberry honey and I have to tell you it's the best cider I've ever had! Sweet and tangy at the same time. I really wanted to get some lunch but apparently I got there a little too late. I definitely want to go back because I hear it's all farm to table and I just love that vibe!

What a gorgeous day on the farm!

A beautiful location and delicious food. I want to first address my -1 star from the rating - this visit was my first time at Congaree and Penn, I had heard amazing things for years. The rotating menu has always been mentioned as a show-stopper and I found it to be slightly limited. It may have been that the AC was not working inside but it took me a while to figure out what I would order. We were there for lunch and the menu was dairy-heavy. We were told to limit customizations which I felt was normal but that made me want to order a dish that I didn't have to customize. I went with the fried spicy chicken sandwich as my main - it was absolutely delicious, but a few areas of the cut of chicken were very tough for a sandwich. This was surprising. I ordered, for the table, cornbread and a melon salad. These both were more of the show stopper than anything else! That cornbread was EVERYTHING - fresh, warm, came with whipped salty butter, amazing! The melon salad - crunchy, colorful, rich flavor, balanced flavor, loved!! My -1 star is more so due to the sides and accoutrement being more impressive than the menu of mains that day. It surprised me. Service - our wait staff was very pleasant, but I needed them to be quicker and more observant. We were waiting on waters, silverware, boxes, checks. It was tiring having to waive someone down and then wait for them in a room where we were the only table. We ended up being late for our meet and greet with the farm animals, and it was definitely due to the oddly slow service. Something might have been going on that day bc I found it very strange how everyone kept disappearing. I'm so glad we got to meet the animals!! They were so fun and cute and no one got eaten by an emu which was great! The grounds - absolutely beautiful and I'm so greatful to have gotten time to roam around. I do recommend visiting and in fact I hope to be back for a dinner service in the winter, I think that would be beautiful.

Fall festivities at Congaree and Penn I tried the Gallberry Honey Cider which was light, honey-sweet, and perfect for walking the grounds. It was such a relaxing evening and I will definitely be going back.

This is one of my top recommendations for anybody visiting Jax! It is a fantastic place to come, chill, have a drink or 2, bring your dog, bring the kids to see all the animals and then have a great meal, be it dinner or lunch. I particularly recommend coming at sunset time to walk around the farm and then staying for dinner and then sitting around one of the fire pits to have a glass of wine. The aesthetics of the place is simple but beautiful and it blends perfectly with the nature around. The service was #1 and very friendly since our arrival. The food is farm to table, so expect fresh, delicious and seasonable ingredients!

We sat outside in the hanger where we were able to enjoy the weather and be under the shade. Our server Sam was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My Florida Heat chicken sandwich was VERY good. The chicken was insanely crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I loved the pickles and the sauce in the sandwich. The fries were good, solid fries- no complaints. I shared half of my partner's BLT and it was okay but don't think it was worth the price tag. The brisket flat bread was also okay but when you finished the toppings, the cheese and bread part was a little plain. My table enjoyed trying the different flights they offered and it was a fun experience.

Prices are expensive and it was pretty busy but it was very easy to get a reservation with Resy and the food is incredible. I probably wouldn't go back for dinner due to the expense but I would go back for a drink and/or dessert. The atmosphere is gorgeous and the farm is really nice to walk around after you eat. I'd definitely go for one of their nights with the music and food trucks. We got the cornbread (which changes regularly), short rib, and shrimp and grits. Everything was beyond good.

It was so quiet and peaceful. We had the best service and the best food ever. So impressed and will be back soon!

We loved everything about this place. All of the food that we ordered came out promptly and was so delicious. The whole ambiance was welcoming, homey and farm-like. It seemed that everyone was accompanied by a baby or a dog! We already can't wait to come back.

A very pricey experience but it is a farm to table style experience so maybe that justifies it. And you must read the fine print when it comes to anything dining and/or event related! The few times I have been here have mostly been for events and I've dined here twice. Eating outdoors on the patio you get to really enjoy a sunset but be prepared for the heat! I recently went to the Low country boil event which was very underwhelming. $50 ticket for unseasoned shrimp boil. I really wish they gave us salt and pepper. I only ate a little bit because it really was pretty tasteless so I didn't even want to eat $50 worth unfortunately. They didn't even give you a drink for free or discounted. Water would have been nice, really anything would've been great. Their alcoholic drinks at the bar will also run you a pretty penny. 2 drinks costs me about $29, which was two glasses of wine. The farm pass purchase is required for walking the grounds, you can't purchase farm passes online. If you want to eat at the restaurant you MUST have a reservation. No outside food or snacks are allowed. Again read the fine print for literally anything you do here to be sure you're not breaking any rules. The grounds are beautiful. I love walking around and enjoying the nature and view. Overall a good experience to come here every once in a while, maybe take out of town friends and family here, and for special occasions to splurge. The farm animals are adorable as well! But I did find their special event very underwhelming and the $50 price tag was not justified.

The shrimp and grits here is outstanding. Especially if they have the jam they put in it as well. Property is beautiful and overall is a great date night. I do wish the tables were higher as my legs sort of jam in there.

It pains me to give this place three stars. The food was 5 stars and I'd follow the chef to any restaurant. Ambiance is beautiful. The acoustics on the outdoor patio were loud and not ideal. The sweet potato gnocchi had a fantastic chile rojo sauce I loved, more prunes than gnocchi, so would have loved more gnocchi. Husband had the short rib dish and his was great too. We had the apple cornbread and it wasn't too sweet and the pine nut tart. The pine nut tart was interesting. The reason it is 3 stars is the service. It took over five minutes to greet us once seated. After the waiter introduced us we ordered a beer flight and cornbread. The cornbread was delivered and finished before the beer flight, which took 20 minutes. We had a jug of water that we went through and went empty during the meal and were sitting without water or drinks for several minutes. Then we were asked after our food was delivered if we wanted anything so I got wine that the waiter suggested to go with my food and husband got a cider. Again our food was finished before drinks was delivered. Our food always came faster than the drinks. Went to the bathroom and no one was manning the bar. They guarantee lost money tonight because they take 20 minutes a drink order to get out. Husband set out credit card and went to the bathroom. No one came by with the bill. Waited again another 5-10 minutes, and then we had two people come by with the bill at different times. Seemed to be a lack of multitasking/communication. Like when dropping off drinks, get the jug to refill the water. After a table orders dessert, print off their bill ready to go. An hour and a half for 3 courses, only one of those were made to order, is too long. 7:15 reservation, not all tables were full, and left 8:45. It didn't seem like a lack of staff. It just seemed like things were brought out one at a time to tables. No hustle, even after we paid. I would come back again because the food was excellent I just would have to sit somewhere else. Overall service was just painfully slow. Running out of water with a jug provided is pretty bad, pairing wine with a dish but having it take over 15i minutes to get delivered not great. I did get a sorry for that but don't suggest pairing if you can't get it there on time. I'm not sure why drinks took so long when it's only beer and wine. I don't think they were short staffed either I saw at least 6 people working 8 long tables, as a former waiter, it was normal for me to have at least 4 tables at a time. They need another bartender or a better system for drinks. It looks like a management/training issue.

We initially asked for indoor seating, but after seeing how cozy the space was, we happily switched to outdoor seating since the weather was perfect. We ordered two of each oyster, and they were fresh, salty, and incredibly smooth. We also decided to try the baked oysters--something my husband doesn't usually go for--but they ended up being his favorite. So much so that we ordered another round. Overall, it was a fantastic night and a great experience. We'll definitely be back.

Like any good kid back then wanting to hear a particular song, I listened to my FM radio nonstop, waiting patiently to hear this crazy song called "Pac-Man Fever!" Sadly I don't ever recall actually hearing it on my favorite station. Hearing about new things is much easier now. Social media and the internet overwhelm me with what the algorithms think I want to see and learn about. And most of the time those crazy programs and their internet overlords are spot on! Take, for instance, a rather new restaurant in San Marco focusing on seafood. Shellfish and caviar to be specific. A few months ago all of my feeds were filled with information about a new place in town - Brine. Obviously, my wife and I, loving all things related with food, knew that we needed to try it. Well, today was that day. First, know that the parking lot is down a dead end street that looks spooky. Keep going. I didn't and ended up parking in the larger lot where La Napolera is located. The restaurant is tiny. Our server told us that the space was used to sell smoothies. Or perhaps it was a phone booth. Regardless it's intimate. And the food is fantastic! Colette our server was fantastic. Bubbly, helpful and definitely gave off the vibe that she was happy to be there, helping us enjoy our meal. She was great and I can't say enough good things about her. We opted to try the tasting menu. It's an option when you book online. We also chose to sit at the counter. An island of 4 seats that look at the other diners sitting at the tables inside. It's odd and Colette told us that the owners were planning on building an expanded space in the near future. The tasting menu is a seven course meal. If desired, you can choose to add a wine pairing. We got one wine pairing that we split - it was more than enough and the Brine folks were kind enough to put the wine into two glasses. As for the courses we had for our meal? Course 1 Champagne PEI oysters Each oyster included a different topping. There was butter. And chorizo. And caviar. Each was delicious and very different. A perfect way to start the meal. The champagne was also a great. Course 2 Riesling Yellow tail (hamachi) crudo with pineapple. The pineapple was prepared three ways. And while the wine was very dry and minerally (is that a word?) it worked PERFECTLY with the sweetness of the pineapple. To me this pairing worked the best. Course 3 Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand Tuna tartar with aioli on a fried panko crusted seaweed cracker. The tuna flavor was delicate and worked well on top of the seaweed cracker. Again, the wine worked very well with the flavors of the fish. Course 4 Chanin blanc Salad with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, vinaigrette and butter and mashed potato and potato crisps. Lettuce and mashed potatoes? I don't know how. I don't know why. But it works. Really, really well. They're like mad scientists at Brine and they may be building a monster out of body parts. But darn it the potato/salad combo was fantastic! Course 5 Oaked Chardonnay Lobster cannelloni This was probably my favorite dish. The lobster filling was awesome and I literally wanted to fill a cup with the sauce and drink it through a straw. If you're not going to try the tasting menu I would highly recommend this for an entree. Course 6 Waygu shortrib and scallops and parsnips Ochetti langhe nebbiolo The scallops are sliced thin, which I liked a lot. The shortrib was good. I like parsnip, but I felt that its flavor overshadowed the flavors of the beef and the scallop. It's a tasty dish, but wasn't my favorite. Course 7 Cheesecake bread pudding with bourbon ice cream Chocolate pearls chocolate marscapone orange chocolate cake Solera 1847 Creme dulce Sherry Colette brought us two different desserts to try instead of each of us having the same. Both were fantastic. I think I liked the chocolate cake one more while my wife really enjoyed the cheesecake. The sherry was fine but didn't really add anything to the desserts. Course 8 (extra) Sugar cookie with vanilla ice cream and caviar. This was an extra treat that they brought. A cookie ice cream sandwich with caviar on it. Again, why does it work? I don't get it! But it was super tasty. We were both really full by this point but ate it all! Each course isn't a huge, but by the end we were stuffed. And splitting the wine was a good way let us drive home! The tasting menu is a great way to try Brine and the many of the flavor combinations they're putting together. It's not an inexpensive meal. But we knew that going in. The cost may turn some people off, but this was a fantastic meal with some wonderful staff. I don't play video games too much anymore. And I don't remember the Pac Man song. But I love food, and I know that if you do as well you'll love Brine!

My only complaint (and this may be specific to me) is that they did not have a cola flavored diet drink to offer. Yes, I admit, I need my Diet Coke with my meal. On my first visit (a Wednesday), I waited over an hour just to be seated....only to find out they were completely out of oysters for the week. That was frustrating, especially after such a long wait. I decided to give them another shot this past Wednesday, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, it didn't improve. This time, I was told that oysters can no longer be prepared a certain way because it's considered a "special order." Instead, you're limited to however they choose to serve them.....either raw or lightly steamed. For a seafood spot, that's a bit surprising. Most people have a preference when it comes to oysters, and being told you can't customize your order feels restrictive. After speaking with the manager, she did agree to accommodate my request this one time (for one or two dozen), but also made it clear that moving forward, it wouldn't be allowed. That response didn't sit well with me....it gave the impression that customer preferences aren't really a priority. Between the long wait times, limited availability, and lack of flexibility with orders, I left feeling unpleased and unsatisfied. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll be returning.

My husband and I went on a much needed date night tonight. I've always wanted to give BB's a try…read moreand finally convinced him! We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer, they were phenomenal! Then we both decided on steak for dinner. I got the filet, and ordered it medium rare and it was perfect. My husband ordered the ribeye and his was medium, his was also spot on. Then of course, we had to get dessert. I got the German chocolate cake (this apparently isn't their normal one) and my husband got the dulce cheesecake. The waitress we had was great, and she recommended lots of tips and favorites to try. The only negative thing that I would say is that it's a bit cramped, so it was very loud and hard to hear each other at points. This was an amazing dinner. We will be back

Had a fantastic double date tonight celebrating my girlfriend's birthday! We were greeted warmly…read moreand given a nice table in the dining room. Our waiter, Evan, was very proactive & offered suggestions with menu items. We started with some cocktails, the gentlemen with the cider beer & an old fashioned. I chose a glass of bubbly & the birthday girl had the fizz cocktail. It was incredible with a fresh blackberry puree. We started with the fried green tomatoes & the calamari, both were delicious! Calamari was prepared well and not too chewy. We shockingly each chose a salad: the bistro steak, the chop chop Asian, the goat cheese, and the salmon. Each one was incredible. Mine was the chop chop and I absolutely loved it! It was HUGE and you can bet I ate every single bite. Loved it!' We finished with the brownie topped with ice cream for the birthday girl, it was extremely tasty! Thanks again to Evan for making our night! He was a fantastic waiter! Would absolutely request him in the future.
