I love this nursery! They have so many interesting plants and those interesting plants cannot be found at the big box store. The prices are very reasonable and they usually have a discount area at the front of the store with either garden tools or plants that need a new home. During my visit I purchased some oyster plants and a miracle fruit tree. These trees do not need a friend tree to pollinate. The calladiums were on super sale so I also purchased 20 of those! I always ride pass this nursery and always say I will stop by. Well I finally did. Me and my husband stop by during the week and let me tell you this place is always busy which is a good sign. They have the most beautiful plants, flowers,trees, fruit trees, vegetables, and fruit. They also sale all of your potting soil, needs etc. This is now our go to place for all our planting needs. I concur with other Yelpers that this nursery is one of the best in the Jacksonville area especially with the pricing and variety. This is one of the larger nurseries that carry a nice selection of healthy plants and you'll definitely want to drop some cash. The flowers available in the springtime are just amazing! The colorful blooms of the Zinnias and the shapes and color combinations of the Caladium leaves really is a gorgeous sight. If you're looking for some fruit trees or fruit producing bushes and vines for your yard, look no further. Gore's Nursery carries many varieties of persimmons trees, mulberries trees, citrus trees, blueberries bushes, blackberry vines, and even my favorite Miracle Berry Tree which is not common to find in any nursery this far north. And at prices ranging between $5 to $25 cheaper per tree than some of the other nurseries I've frequented in the area, you can afford to pick-up a few to take home. In addition, they offer plenty of gardening necessities such as fertilizers, peat moss, soils, seeds, planters and ton of specialty yard products inside there air conditioned general store so it's a one-stop-shop for all of you plant lovers and gardeners out there [myself included!]. Plenty of ornamental plants to beautify your yard as well as edibles such as all of your herbs and veggies sold as starters or older so you can skip the germination process, they have enough here to keep you gardening all year long. Like a lot of nurseries nurseries they need to work on their pathways. You really have to watch your steps there.One of the older staff person needs to work on his disposition. I actually had to ask him " what was his problem. Very sore disposition to ME! Maybe he doesn't like being asked many questions. One gentleman brushed us off and asked someone else to assist us. As much as I loved their garden and so many different types of roses, I will not return. This amazing little local nursery is like my own private heaven! I stumbled across this place while searching for camellias. Not only did they have the best selection I've seen in Jacksonville they also have amazing prices! Since visit I've been back several times and I'll admit sometimes it's just to walk around. This place is so huge with so much variety it's like going hiking in an exotic garden. They have species of trees only found in Florida like the Sugar Belle mandarin trees. This is a new variety released by UF in 2009 and very hard to find. You can get one for $25! They also have fruit cocktail trees which are crafted to produce multiple kinds of fruit on one tree!!! There are so many plants, bushes, trees, herbs, succulents you could be there all day. They carry all the supplies needed for growing too making it an easy one stop shop. The employees are also extremely helpful and will make suggestions or direct you if needed. Seriously the best nursery I've found in Jax. read more

This is hands down, the best nursery in Jax. I come here all the time and the staff are very nice and welcoming. From the very first time i came here, the staff has been more than helpful with assisting with any questions ive had or helping me load my car with plants. Just plain rude folks here. I tried to call in advance to see if they were open since many non-essential businesses are closed during the pandemic, but after trying for half a day there was still no answer on their end, not even a voicemail. So, they have a message feature on Facebook and I sent a message to them asking if they were open. I got back a response basically chastising me for not listening to their voicemail greeting. "Our office is too overwhelmed to answer the phone. The voice message states that we are open. It's the first thing we say to avoid confusion.". Followed by, "Im sorry I was just informed our phone is actually not working properly." I really don't give a damn if you're busy or not, but if you're going to take the time to respond to a customer it should be with professionalism and appreciation, because a customer has other choices. For me, I was able to order what I needed from Amazon and probably cheaper from past experience. Next time I need a nursery, this place will be dead to me. read more

Huge healthy collection to choose from. Staff was very nice and helpful. I could see on a busy day help may be hard to come by, so keep that in mind. 30 min drive from Mandarin, but well worth it. Prices were average to very affordable compared to big box places. Prices of larger trees were extremely good. Definitely going back. read more

Rude staff. They will not answer questions over the phone. I called and asked if they had a tree I was looking for and the price. They said they had the tree, but would not give me the price. Said I had to stop by to get the price. Another time, I bought a flat of Datil peppers, because they are hard to find. I was happy with the plants, and the plants grew and produced well, but they were not datils. I was disappointed, and the next time I was in there, I told them about it I did not ask them for a refund because the plants produced well and we used the peppers, and I even told them I was not asking for a refund--I just wanted them to know the plants were mislabeled. They did not thank me, and acted like they were irritated that I said something, and seemed like they just did not care. I still shop at Gores when I cannot find what I want at another nursery, but the people there are just plain rude. read more

Not normally inclined to write reviews, but I just had the most ridiculous encounter that I have ever had at a business anywhere. I had been on Gores property less than 15 seconds when I encountered a gentleman by the name of Donnie. I don't know if Donnie is an owner or an employee, but he was the most arrogant person I have ever dealt with. I asked Donnie if they had Leyland Cypress trees. In a very condescending tone, he informed me that I had already passed by them. I then asked Donnie if there were problems with the trees and that I had read that in northeast Florida, Leyland Cypress were prone to fungus and disease. Donnie asked, again in a very condescending tone, where I got that information from. I stated that I had read it online and Donnie then asked if I believed everything I read on the internet and if I was going to believe what someone put on the internet or if I was going to believe an expert such as himself. He then stated that if I believed that they were prone to fungus/disease, then I obviously new absolutely nothing about a Leyland Cypress. To be clear, I never questioned his knowledge or expertise. I simply asked him a question about something I had read. I am having a house built and intend to purchase everything to complete the landscaping and complete the work myself. I would prefer to get everything from one business and would prefer to use a private business rather than a big box store. I still intend to do that, but Donnie has insured that Gore's will not be the business I use. Donnie may have much expertise with plants, but he has zero customer service skills. read more
