This nursery is just a pleasure to explore. The lily pad ponds wow you, all of the various water fountains, beautiful planters, and rows of plants! The new addition to the mural on the side of the main building is stunning (I loved seeing it get done!). They host events too, makers events, specialty dining in the gardens, gardening workshops. Earthworks Plant Nursery is close to my house. I've attended several events such as fine dining after hours, a Florida plant seminar and most recently the Funkin' Pumpkin Fest. They served complimentary drinks, pizza (from Five Star, delish) and sweets. There was also free face paintings. I talked to several employees and met the owner Chad (and his daughter who was so sweet) on this visit. Of course like any business, Earthworks wants to make a sale. However, this business is different because they actually care about the community they serve! I've purchased plants and various other items for my yard. And anytime I had a question someone was always there to help! If you are looking to hire a landscaper to draft a project plan for a garden or pond and then execute the plan, you should consider hiring Earthworks! Gah this place is noice! My babe decided we'd ride up to Earth Works ONLY to look to see what kinda of plants they have so that we could get an idea as to how we could add some color to our lawn. A gentlemen greeted us as we walked through the store and out the side to the plant area, only for us to be then greeted by a cat. I'm not sure if this was the nursery's cat or not but it was certainly friendly and rolled over every time I went to pet it. We were joking about them having koi fish but they actually have them for sale along with goldfish! That's pretty cool. He also spoke to a staff member to get some ideas for flowers to plant, when to plant them and what will be attracted to them. The pollenating flowers which were beautiful had a lot of bees around them and while I'm not allergic, I didn't want to bring that amount into my neighborhood. My nose went straight for the lavender as they smelled gorgeous. Definitely have to return to get some of these for an herb garden. I walked out of there with two purchases: a white bleeding heart which appeared to have been their last one and a white Agapanthus Shona Dwarf, also the last one. One for the front yard and one for the backyard. The same gentleman in the store cashed me out and gave me some tips on how to maintain them which was very helpful. This was my favorite place to go as a kid, we would come and I would feed the fish. Walk around and sometimes bring lunch. The people who work here are amazingly kind. This is a beautiful, beautiful plant nursery off Beach, easy to find, easy to park. Walking in it's so pretty, they have created a oasis of lush greens and water features, what stood out to me was the owners/ employees seemed to care about the plants and were very knowledgeable about them, compared to the big box stores where I've seen plants drowning/ dying and employees could care less. Drove by for years but finally was invited to a event and got to stop in. The instructor was funny and gave out lots of gardening wisdom while we had finger foods and adult beverages. My kinda event! The place is nice and so peaceful. I had to return again just to see everything and use the wisdom received earlier in the week for my garden. Grabbed some liquid fertilizer and a few perennials and toured the rest of the place that I hadn't seen yet. Stopped in here to garner their advice on how to add some privacy to a spa area of my yard. I took the advice of Matthew, who seemed to know what he was talking about, and I bought two bottle brush trees, approximately 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall.. Matthew was insistent to me that they could survive the mild winters in North Florida, but said they will grow beautifully without a lot of upkeep after they are established, etc., etc. in other words, one day after purchase, so far so good. He sold me a bag of compost and two bottlebrush trees. But what I'm gonna do, because I've had issues with nurseries selling anything they can just to sell it, I will be reporting back quarterly at least on the progress of these trees over the next year. It's only after that year when we know whether or not Earthworks, is in it to sell anything they can, or whether they're in it to help people solve issues and problems concerning their properties. read more

This is the best plant shop I have been to in Jax! The prices are good and the selection is huge!

We just left this pplace, after driving 3 hours. We called and asked specific questions before heading over. We asked if they pond pants, "yes". Getting there...nope. Not selling any until February! The young lady helping us was new and very nice. She had to ask te older gentleman, with white hair and a black shirt, questions for us as she didn't know. He was very short and in my opinion not suited for customer service. He kept walking off, not offering any other options or even showing any concern that a customer drove for 3 hours to purchase items. My shopping trip budget went from $$$$$ to barely $. The excellently staffed Tallahassee Nursery recommended this place to us. Not only will we NEVER return, but I will make sure no one I know even talks about this place. They don't blow oxygen into the Koi bags. Please spend money on a place that doesn't makes you feel as you are a burden. This place is lacking!!! read more

Been here twice now with my wife to purchase plants for our home gardening projects. Have visited a few different places and really like the vibe here. Many staff walking around to help find what you are looking for, lots of variety of plants, trees for indoor, outdoor, greenhouses, ponds or for eating (herbs, fruits, vegetables). They even have tanks of koi fish is that is what you trying to add for your home design. The other nice perk is the free hot dogs/hamburgers, beer & wine from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. every Saturday during the Spring months only. What an adorable place! From palm to Banana Trees to Koi ponds and fire pits, they've got you covered! Plenty of parking and masks required. We strolled around here amazed at all the gorgeous plants, flowers , pots and grounds. They also have many outside decorations for any tastes. Beautiful craftsmanship adorn the inside. I felt like I was at an art museum:) Fountains and koi of multiple sizes are available for sale. It was relaxing to walk around and see the bees and butterflies. It's a bit pricey but I will definitely come back here again soon. They literally have everything I need for my flower gardens. read more

This is your pond/koi super store. They have tons of different sizes and shapes of ponds to choose from, but keep in mind that they do have a specialist come to your home to see where the pond construction will take place and they then proceed with the design. Ponds are not cheap but oh the Zen it brings. This garden center has lots of help and the manager was also very informative. Another place for a plant lover to browse. read more

When we first bought our house we visited Earthworks to buy the soil and other supplies we needed for our flower beds. Earthworks delivered the supplies. The delivery person was very friendly, polite, and professional, even cleaning up where he spoiled a bit of soil on our sidewalk. When we decided that we needed French Drains in our house to help with standing water issues in the back yard, Earthworks was 1 of the 3 companies we invited provide a solution. I will tell you that Earthworks was not the least expensive. Quite simply, their solution was the best. Doug came out to walk our property and had the solution back to us very quickly. The crew that did the installation was, again, friendly, polite, and professional. When done, not only could you barely see where the work had been done, the back yard in general was left in better shape than when they started work. If you are afraid of the cost of French Drains and you have standing water issues, bite the bullet, call Doug at Earthworks, and write the check. This has been a great investment. Two months ago we purchased 2 trees from Earthworks and had them deliver and install the trees. As is normal, the crew was, can you guess, friendly, polite, and professional. They left the everywhere they went cleaner than it was before they showed up. Next is Earthwork's redoing the mess that is our patio. Will update at that time. read more

Insider tip - if you need to go East toward the beach, you don't have to make a U-turn on Beach Blvd. There is a side street that leads to the Kernan exit ramp, so very easy to get back on eastbound Beach Blvd. read more

We visited Earthworks and loved it, but unfortunately our experience has ended poorly. We purchase a fountain, and while putting it in the car, the employee said it was missing a part, but they were on order and would be in within a couple weeks. Well, lo and behold, every time I call about it, no one has any idea what I'm talking about and I have a fountain that doesn't have the light function on it. I've given up and filed a dispute on my credit card, which I'm disappointed I had to do. Beautiful place, but terrible service. read more

We recently had our backyard landscaped by Earthworks. Leslie was our point of contact and project designer. Leslie worked very hard to make sure the design was safe for our 2 dogs as well as making the right plant choices that would hold up with our active pups. She went out of her way to make sure that every plant was nontoxic to the dogs as well as beautiful. The entire team at Earthworks were right top of everything that needed to be done. Leslie was always available for questions and ideas. Jeff and Tim were the landscapers who not only worked incredibly hard but they were very helpful with their knowledge and recommendations. They couldn't have been more thoughtful and friendly! The Earthworks nursery is an amazing place with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely not like the big box stores and well worth the drive from Fernandina. We look forward to having our front yard landscaped soon!! read more

While this place does have many unique plans and levee cactuses along with trees, it is VERY EXPENSIVE. I am a " plant lady" lol. I go all over town to nurseries and check and compare prices and will spend more on trees and plants if they appear nicer or better supports but this place seriously is expensive. I was looking for a roubalini tree, 2 of them ( small palm tree for those who don't know) and it was $275 - not horrible but it's a huge tree to transport and pick up on your own or even with one other person. So they told me it's $250 to have installed and $80 to transport --- WHAT!! I found a double roubalini tree off of Atlantic blvd for $395 which was little bigger and includes installment and transportation ! read more

My favorite nursery. If I had lots of disposable income, I'd dispose of it here. The staff is always informative and helpful. The nursery itself is well laid out and welcoming. There's a large variety of plants and price points. The koi pond is worth the visit, and keeps your kids from complaining about going plant shopping (again?!!!!). What a lovely find along the drive home. There was so much going on here that the curiosity literally made us turn around to see all of the beautiful decorative items that would make any yard lovely. My interest were the wonderful ceramic pots that were a labyrinth of sizes, shapes, and colors it would make your head spin. So many choices. The prices were fair. We walked away with two beautiful butterfly wind chimes. I love this place and will probably only shop here from now on. They have a great selection of plants (I had not seen anybody carrying a few of the plants that they carry including blood lily!) and very healthy stock with fair prices. The employees are very helpful (Julie, David, and the delivery guy). I had intended to be home for the delivery and planting of a large palm but that day there was a deluge. I showed the delivery guy about all the tricky areas to be navigated so when they came they could be extra careful. I came home from work a couple of days later and the tree was planted perfectly with no damage, plus they matched my mulch. I would definitely use these guys again! read more
