    Garlic shrimp plate
    Klemens T.

Came to a couple of these Eat the Street events and I find it ok. It's located at that little field area in front of the Kakaako main parking lot. There're a bunch of food trucks and a few other vendors posted all along the field. This particular night was a bit crappy because there were random water sprinklers turning on spraying some of the vendor tents. On top of that, a good section of the field was really wet and muddy. The lines were super long for the food trucks that appeared to have the better looking yummier food. My wife, friends, and I got some yummy lemonade from Ulu's Lemonade. The large size was like $10. I got the Robs Special and my wife had the Pineapple Paradise. Then we ate at this Garlic Shrimp truck (don't remember the name of the truck, but I think it said World's Favorite or something like that. My wife and I ordered the fish tacos, garlic shrimp tacos, garlic shrimp plate, and garlic fries. The tacos were really bland tasting. The garlic shrimp plate was ok. The garlic fries was pretty much crinkle fries with garlic dipping sauce. We ended the night with some weird yummy Korean ice cream that was inside of some kind of sweet corn flavored churro, but crunchier. Having good friends to hang out with made the night somewhat great. There're ample parking in the main Kakaako parking lot and street parking all over the place.

Fish and chips!! They were so good.

Best place to try variety of food in one place. Just have to really in line for some of the places and bring cash.

We were right there, so I ordered a Smoked BBQ Rib plate. It came with 2 sides. We chose Baked beans and Green beans with smoked turkey. Service was very friendly and efficient! I believe that they worker said, "I appreciate you!" Wow! That's very nice of him! We took the plate home (it was too windy to sit alongside the busy sidewalk) and discussed the tasty ribs, sweet (molasses?) Baked beans and yummy green beans with smoked turkey. Mmm! I would return and get the catfish plate, Po Boy sandwich, and walking tacos!

Unfortunately, they were out of collard greens, so ended up ordering a fried catfish plate with Mac & cheese and green beans. Man, I don't know if it was because I was hungry, but this was one of the best classic Mac and cheeses I had in a long time, and by far the best green beans I had. The catfish was freshly fried after ordering and was perfectly cooked and seasoned. At $26 per plate it is a little pricey, but it was about a meal and a half and the taste was excellent. I would suggest calling ahead to see what they're out of and to ensure you don't have to wait.

It's in an area with a few other food stalls and I didn't know what to expect but I'm so glad I tried it. I ordered the angry shrimp plate and the 6pc coconut shrimp a la carte ($13.95). The coconut shrimp is outta this world. Coated with breading with flakes of coconut, the crispy, crunchy exterior is so satisfying to bite into and unveils the juicy shrimp underneath. I loved the sauces it came with too -- it paired so well with the shrimp. The angry shrimp plate comes with two scoops of furikake rice and a small side salad. Whatever is in the salad dressing is seriously addictive and the angry shrimp is wonderful when paired with the rice. The sauce made me want two more scoops of white rice. I preferred my beloved coconut shrimp more but all in all these were excellent dishes. I might need to get this again and that's high praise considering the abundance of good food in Oahu.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Disrespectful service & completely unacceptable behavior!!…read more My boyfriend and I placed two separate orders for a total of 4 platters and 2 drinks. During my boyfriend's transaction, he didn't realize it was cashless, and the employee, Mitchel T, repeatedly pressured him to put his cash in the tip jar - mentioning things like a ski trip and family to convince him to hand the cash over as tip. It quickly became uncomfortable. When picking up our first order (2 platters, 2 drinks), the same employee asked if I could carry everything. I said I'd try, but instead of giving me the drinks, he handed me only the 2 platters and angrily sighed before setting the drinks back down. As I went back for the drinks, he instead handed me the remaining two platters. I turn to set those down and while doing so I guess he thought now I would be able to handle carrying 2 platters and 2 drinks. Because I didn't grab the drinks this second go around, the worker called me a "F***ING IDIOT." When I said, "that's rude," he doubled down - telling another customer I was an idiot because he was "busy" (there was only one person in line). My boyfriend calmly tried to address it, but the employee refused, completely ignored him, and continued glaring at us as we left. Other customers also expressed how rudely treated they were at this location. We spent nearly $100 to be treated with hostility. Completely unacceptable.

We ordered the Hamburger Mac Shack Bowl, the hamburger patty was small, sad, dry, and lacked in flavor. It tasted like the school lunch hamburger patties at best. The mac was BAD, like it was so grainy and I thought maybe they messed up the roux (if they used any), but my partner (chef) said that its due to it being overcooked. Which makes a lot of sense because the macaroni itself was also a bit overcooked. There were no like "cheesy-ness" to the mac at all, other than the sad, grainy texture sauce, which also had a strong "flour-y" taste. I do NOT recommend. If you want mac and cheese balls (seems to what they're popular for as well" go to cheesecake factory or literally anywhere else.

We knew we were only going to get one hotdog just to try it out. When we were ready to put in our order, I placed it in with the male worker. As I was saying my order to the worker, my boyfriend had walked away to the side to wait for me. When I finished putting in my order, the worker had asked me if it would have been just one or two hotdogs. I answered him by saying yes just one. Which he then responded by saying, "what, would he rather have a pho?" Clearly seeing my boyfriend was Asian, that was his question for us just getting one hotdog. He said it as if it was funny. I left it alone and waited for the order. I just don't get the point of him having to say that. He didn't even pronounce "pho" right either, he pronounced it as "foe." As for the hotdog itself, it is good. It is on the pricier side of $11 for one but for the price you get with the bun, polish sausage and toppings, it made it for it. Lower stars because of the overall impression.
