As she gets older, I decided to start celebrating her half birthday). When we were walking towards this place after parking, we were surprised to see a few dogs (with their owners) walking out the door. That let's us know that 32 Below Ice Cream is dog friendly. When we walked in, we were greeted by two friendly employees behind the counter. One of the employees told us that they offer pup cups of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. My husband thought vanilla ice cream would be nice since she had received a puppucino from Starbucks yesterday. So that employee made one for her right away. I was really surprised how big the scoop was and also later finding out that it was free was really surprising. Then later on, after trying a few samples, we ended up getting the following for ourselves: Mountain Blackberry Revel, Kid Size, $3.50 prior to tax- I really liked the flavor of this ice cream. I think it is a vanilla ice cream with swirls of blackberry throughout. Butter Pecan, Kid Size, $3.50- I didn't have any of this but my husband liked it. He told me that he always likes to go with the classics. ---------------------------- (Total= $7.51 after tax, prior to tip) Because the employees were so great, my husband decided to give tip. We sat inside after we got our order, which was nice to be able to enjoy our ice cream inside instead of outside like we normally would do at other ice cream places that don't normally allow dogs inside. I really like the ski lift inside that is nice for a photo op. If I lived here, my dog and I would definitely be a regular.

Our waitress was wonderful, the cook was prompt and masterful, the Owner oversaw his restaurant like a proud Lord watching over his kingdom, greeting friends and customers warmly. Balance: quantity and quality versus price were good. Cleanliness: the restaurant was good and good clean order, only complaint is there were a few flys. Clearly the opportunistic as it seemed every time someone would open a door a fly would charge in as quickly as they could following the sweet sweet smell of barbecue. Deliciousness: when I tell you I'm a barbecue snob, I mean it in every sense of the word. I've been grilling since I was a child, I've lived in the south I've lived in the east I've lived on the West Coast and I've lived in the Carolinas. My palate is normally greatly displeased with every barbecue I encounter but I take it for its own merit. Each grill master has their own ups and downs. So when I tell you this was some of the best barbecue I've ever had in my life you can take it as gospel. What you taste when you eat the barbecue here is the meat, the smoke, and the love that goes into it which is a vague term that is hard to define, if I were to try I would have to say that it's a combination of care, the way they prepare it and take care of the meat after it's prepared, seasoning, seasoning is very easy to overdo depending on the meat how long it's going to be cooked what cut it is where it came from how it was processed etc, and how they cut slice or prepare it. That's what love means when it comes to grilling and barbecue. Care, seasoning, preparation. So yes, Old Mill Eatery and Smokehouse blew me away. I only sampled their ground beef, bacon, and tri-tip, but if those are any indicator at the mastery they have over meat I am looking forward to trying everything they have to offer. My tri-tip was cooked to perfection, I could taste the beef, although it was shaved very thin because I had it on a sandwich I could still tell it was tri-tip and not just roast beef being pushed off as tri-tip, the bread was fluffy and fresh and seared with a bit of butter, soft and warm but crisp on the edge, the onion rings were fluffy and yet crispy on the outside, the garlic tater tots were perfect in every way crispy crunchy and savory, the bacon blue Burger was cooked to perfection it was not overpowered by blue cheese crumble and the bacon almost seemed as if it was not only peppered but candied in thick slabs, the side order of garlic bread was perfectly cooked crisp on the edges fluffy in the middle buttery and garlicky as it should be. Absolutely incredible top marks! Environment: there are only a few tables as the restaurant is a bit smaller but what they do with their space is comfortable and works. The restaurant itself is decorated like a lodge, reminiscent of a sawmill or a logging camp, with treated wood and a log cabin aesthetic, the decorations themselves consist mostly of historic articles and photos of both friend and family and the history of the restaurant. They also sell very cool cups that I definitely meant to get and will have to go back to that one for myself and the Missus. I need to make a mental note of that. All together this was a fantastic experience and I can't wait to go back. Their menu had so many things I want to try. The French toast tacos caught my eye definitely going to try that. But more importantly to me I want more of that barbecue, I want to try the brisket, sausage, chicken, pulled pork, I want to try it all! If the other items are half as good as what I had today I don't think I need to eat anywhere else. If you find yourself in Shasta Lake do yourself a favor and try the Old Mill Eatery and Smokehouse. See if you can take on their Giant Smokehouse Burger or a Pit Master challenge.

Let's start with In store ordering is the only way to order from them. The food is really really good, fresh, fairly quick and moderately priced. It's worth the cost for what you get. Ordering Togo can have mistakes and ordering for delivery, well continue reading. Now.... I Would not recommend ordering from their 'From the Hearth' app. When you download it and order from it it seems as though it's an app they monitor and delivery would be private. It's DoorDash that the 'ordering/payment/delivery it actually goes through. Here's where it gets frustrating. On DoorDash app when an order is incorrect you can file a claim and get a refund. You cannot do that with this app, nor is there anyone to help you through From the Hearth side and it's missing the DoorDash side. I've done several home deliveries through the app and mostly items were correct, a few times fries or sauces, added ingredient's to a dish we're missing and we'd than have to go to the store to get them, which is manageable but the experience I'd like to really share is: I made a $175 order to feed my family and friends that were in town. It took over 2.5hrs to finally get delivered to us, it even got delivered to the wrong house and when trying to get it figured out through From the Hearth staff they treated me as if I was lying and would not remake the food nor refund me. The food was literally "missing" and I was told I had to go through the subsidiary (DoorDash) that's when I learned it was not their app and they had no responsibility once it left their store. But really for me, It was the way the From the Hearth staff responded to the incident that truly baffles me and makes me not eat there anymore. I use to frequent the business several times a month, this was extremely rude and made me very disappointed. I would NOT recommend them based on their customer service by this experience.

It's fast food, ice cream, overpriced, served mostly by teenage workers ill informed about their rights, have no clue their manager/owner of this place is taking advantage of them. This place should be scrutinized by public officials. Please take time to ask the employees here about working conditions, the shady things. The late hours they work sometimes to accommodate the owners/managers family, serving them after closing time and not even leaving a tip for the poor employees. Do they get overtime pay? Are they asked to serve ice cream even if it fell on the floor and the manager says, it's not dirty it still good and the scared employee serves it to an unsuspecting customer. Imagine if that ice cream is for you or your loved one? Your 6 yr old kid? This franchise is run Third-World country style, applied to the folks here in Redding, and they are getting away with it. You wonder why you get mediocre service. The owners are rotten. They care not about the young people of Redding who desperately need jobs. They care not for the struggling people here in Redding. They peddle overpriced ice cream, workers are expendable, exploitable, young and naive. You choose whether you have the conscience to support a business who does not care about your son, daughter, your friends, your kin. Ask current and former employees, they will tell you the owners of this place are just honestly greedy. You choose if you want to support this franchise or find other places you can get ice cream. For me personally, there are other ice cream places not owned by the couple who operates this baskin robbins. It's overpriced fast food ice cream, served by scared teenagers, owned by a greedy uncaring couple. Public Officials need to investigate the owners.
