Felt the need to defend Carne....to a point. Went with a friend the other week and ordered 2…read moresandwiches, the carne and a their brown bag special with ham I think. Yes, the wait time to have 2 sandwiches made was pretty ridiculous. Now i'm not expecting Subway speeds or anything, these sandwiches are intended to be higher quality that that, but still. We were probably in the shop for close to a half hour with no one in front of us. That's a huge problem. My hope is that this is just about new staff learning the ropes and it'll change. As to the sandwiches it was a 50/50 split. The carne was quite good, my wife and I both agreed. Good ingredients, well made. The ham sandwich was where things fell down. The roll was tough and the ham seemed like the kind of ham you'd buy in a plastic pack in the grocery store, like sub-Boar's Head quality. (incidentally, this is a complaint I've also heard from another local) I'd say to the owners that the shop is a great idea and as a local I really want it to be awesome. A high quality artisan sandwich place (which is what I feel you're going for) with more forgiving hours than Homespun would be great for all of us. Hope you listen to folks and make some changes. Will definitely give a second chance.

So where do I begin? I was extremely excited about this shop opening, especially in beacon where…read morethe quality of food is somewhat of a downfall. Well Carne did not live up to the hype that i was expecting. Artisan sandwich shop is a bold statement. First and foremost I must say vintage cafe, which the location used to be the home of, had a lot of character, Carne made it their own by making it a generic and boring. The inside is not inviting at all, and they've had outside patio furniture, which has been said was temporary, but has been there for over two months. I went there and ordered a couple of sandwiches, il eat anything so i asked for popular sandwiches just to try out. Such a disappointment. The sandwiches were dry, the meat was low quality and not to mention hardly noticeable. They put some pickled peppers and onions on one and fig jam on the other and thats what i think they believe makes it worth ten dollars each sandwich! I'm an optimistic person i thought ya know they just opened maybe they just have to get their sea legs going but honestly every single person i've talked to since then has had similar experiences. First impression means so much in a small community, carne could have been a huge hit if they just put a little bit more tender loving care and wowed us. I pass the shop everyday and honestly i would pay money for high quality unfortunately thats not what your getting here. Please revamp a bit and i would give it a second chance! Also food aside i would come everyday just to get my daily dose of my beloved Tas coffee but you don't even give that a chance. Hudson valley milk and raw sugar could take you far!

Delicious food and so many different ethnic dishes to try! I love the concept of high end food…read moreoffered in a food court from little privately owned stalls

We decided to grab dinner here last minute on Saturday night of our trip to Beacon. This seemed…read morelike a great option because it meant that my husband and I could order different meals but still eat them together. There were only 5 different food stalls plus the ice cream stall in the very front, however only 3 of the food stalls were open at 7pm on a Saturday. This is a small town, so I get it, but I was thoroughly surprised at this because of how crowded the entire town had been all weekend (it was truly the perfect weather to be out here!). The taco food stall had some Mac and cheese that I really wanted, but he was so overwhelmed with making a large order with only one person helping him that he literally told me to come back in 30 minutes to place my order. I ended up ordering the Pimento Grilled Cheese Sandwich from the burger place, where the guy (working solo) told me it would take about 30 minutes before it would be ready. We were in no rush, and it was DEFINITELY worth the wait!! The ooey gooey cheese paired with perfectly browned Texas toast satisfied my hunger after a long day of hiking and window shopping. My husband ordered the Paneer Kati Roll + Mango Lassi from the Indian food stall. He liked the roll, however we both decided that the lassi was average at best. Additionally, they served it with ice which was a huge disappointment (**being that my husband is from India, we have standards regarding Indian food). I'm giving 4 stars because the overall atmosphere of this food hall was not the best... Definitely NOT enough seating... They didn't seem to have anyone on staff taking care of the place, so the two tables that were empty when we arrived were extremely dirty (we cleaned one ourselves). They also didn't have napkins readily available and only 2 individual restrooms, despite having a bar in the back. Also, it was SO DARK inside... Scarce lighting which was not very pleasant or welcoming, especially since the sun was shining brightly outside. There is an outdoor patio, which is great, however because the weather was nice it was completely full. Final thoughts: this is a great place to grab lunch or dinner with a group of friends, especially if no one can agree on where to go. There's a variety of options and something for everyone to enjoy!
