The reception is okay to talk to. but they really don't advise you properly as to the best course…read moreof action as a beginner driver. My first time learning to drive I went to them because I had no one else to help. I thought as a beginner it would be good to take around 7 lessons to see how it goes, and space them out once a week before the driver's exam, which I learned would be about 2 months away. This was a bad idea to take lessons so spaced out. But I did not know better and nor was I told. but the main problem was the fact that the instructor was terrible(Vincente/Vincent). friendly for the most part, but very inept at teaching. my first day there he just had me sit in the car and told me to drive. I was confused and scared. And he looked at me and said verbatim, "you never driven before"? Yea I've literally never driven before , that's why I'm here. But I digress. 6 out of 7 of the lessons were just driving around. he didn't teach parking or 3 point turns for 6 lessons, so I was forced to buy 2 more a week before the exam. On the 6th lessons I mentioned it to him and he told me next week he will teach it to me... He would also be o his phone a lot while he taught. While he did teach me okay techniques for parking and 3 point turn afterwards. there was a lot I've come to realize with a new school I signed up with that he didn't teach me. And because he didn't instruct me on what I would consider fundamentals now, I failed my first exam. As I recall he would tell me I'm turning to wide and I need to handle the wheel better, but he would never instruct me how to do these things. How to prevent making wide turns and how to handle the wheel better. And as a beginner you just trust the teachers judgement while doing your best. on the exam day I had one more lesson, and the instructor had another girl ride in the back seat while I was taking my last lesson. Which in itself was nerve racking as he admonished me during hurried parking exercises which were very impractical and sporadic. He would have me pull in and out of parking spaces along the same street with little warning. Afterwards we drove to the testing site, and I was a nervous wreck. long story short, I failed that day. There were two more girls there with me who took the exam who had vincent as a instructor, one passed, but it was her second time taking it too. so she failed before, and the other girl failed as well . And I learned in my earlier lessons that there was another girl who failed 3 times with the same instructor. So I might be wrong but I think the problem is the instructor. After I failed vincent looked at me with a smirk and asked what happened as though it was a joke. and while looking away just whimsically mentioned we will begin practicing again. Which would not be the case. I switched to a different school about a month after this disaster. the teachers were so much better and mind you I just wanted a fresh reset on being taught everything I already learned. they taught me to prevent making wide turns aim to turn into the center of the lane that you want to end up in. they taught me two methods of parking and 3 point turns on the first and second day. They taught me about paying attention to what kind of lanes I'm turning into to make sure I'm driving center in the correct lane. They taught me to pay attention to signs lights, pedestrians, and to not be mentally and physically rushed by other more impatient drivers, but instead to pay attention to the instructions being given while being aware of those who might cause accidents. I'm taking the exam soon, and hope I pass, but at this point it's up to me. I feel more prepared than I did with the other school. I'm not advertising for the school I'm at now, that's why I'm not stating their name unless someone wants to as me specifically. I'm just giving my outlook and experience as a first time driver. but i highly do not recommend this school. take care

Maybe it was the customer service or perhaps the universe had the right school waiting for me. My brother just happened to be walking on the block where Alexander's Auto School & Services was located. He knew I was looking for a driving school so he inquired about the prices (which were fair) and I went over personally to ask questions and then made my payment. Trust me, we all say we can drive but the majority cannot. You see, Alexander made it super clear to me, he said "you have to learn to drive the way the DMV wants you to drive to pass the DMV road test". Whether you have experience or not, If your intentions is passing the DMV road test, then you must prepare to drive for the DMV road test. Alexander was beyond patient, friendly, professional, knowledgable, detailed, and the tips he gave me were priceless. Please note - we all are different drivers, with different strengths and weaknesses. I have years of experience driving abroad, but no experience driving the way the NYC DMV road test requires me to drive in order to pass. My time was limited, being my test was on 3/19. I literally took a Driving lesson with Alexander the day before (3/18) to help brush up on the necessary skills to pass the DMV road test. Alexander offered tips he could patent, seriously he's the man! He was also super honest regarding my strengths and weaknesses, I think that is really important. While driving to the DMV road test on 3/19, he quickly touched on the areas I needed to focus on. I followed his directions/method and I am super excited to say, I passed!!! If you're looking for a driving school that is focused on getting you that license, patient and extremely knowledgable, trust me this is the one. I knew this as soon as I had a chat with him, super confident, positive vibes. What better teacher than the owner himself! Thank you again, Alexander!! Couldn't of done this without you.

They took me right away, the front desk people ( two women ) were extremely friendly. Explained everything clearly all with a smile on this gloomy day. We started the class upstairs and the instructor Kat, light skin, grew hair, was such a great teacher! She was extremely funny and witty. My last experience in a five hour class was horrible I fell asleep, the teacher only put on a video , didn't speak and didn't give us any paper or a pen to take notes. However Kat had us all prepared. She encouraged participation, you can tell she has a genuine love for safety. And as a new driver I appreciated that. It kept me attentive and actually wanting to learn. This school is really great, I hate the area but I would definitely come back for anything else I need. I paid for the fast road test so I'm going to be practicing all week. As Kat says "observation is key!" Thanks again!!

The people who work in the office are very nice and competent regarding scheduling and the DMV. I…read morerequested a driver and car for my road test. I was told to arrive to their office an hour before my test at Starrett. However, the driver didn't arrive to their office until 20 minutes before the test, and then he had to get breakfast, which wasted more time. I was instructed to drive a block away from the test, and was told, "hurry up" to get there in time. We arrived to the test with a couple minutes to spare, and needless to say, I was not in a calm mood. Image tells you, on the parallel park, to put your right hand behind the front passenger headrest as you reverse. DRIVING WITH ONE HAND on the road test is an automatic fail for many examiners. Following Image's instructions, I failed at Starrett and Seaview. The examiners literally hit the passenger side brake of the driving school car as I was backing up to attempt my parallel. I was done before I barely began thanks to Image's instructions. I took my third road test on Staten Island, and used a Staten Island driving school for my car and driver. I was told to keep both hands on the wheel at all times during the test. I nailed my parallel park and passed. My test literally was less than five minutes, close to four. My advice to anyone scheduling a road test in Brooklyn: Avoid Starrett, Coney Island, and Red Hook. Seaview is arguably the easiest test site in NYC. Just know there are wide streets and your three point turn cannot become a near U-turn.
