This summer 2023 I decided to spend some time to explore pottery making. I chose this studio…read morebecause I wanted to try out pottery making first with a one day experience ( use the wheel with their expert guidance, create a finished piece and paint the piece). I loved my process during the one day wheel experience and decided to take their 4 week wheel classes. I mostly learned from their staff Danielle and she was an excellent teacher! One day wheel experience - $48 per person - perfect friend hangout or date activity! - make 1 piece on the wheel with expert staff guidance with options to make 1 more piece on your own - paint your piece with engobes paint and pick up your piece after a few weeks! 4 week classes - $200 total- such a good deal! Weekly 1 hr classes that includes all supplies, glazes and firing - make atleast 2 pieces depending on how your skills progress throughout the classes. I made 6 pieces but only took home 4! - I was a beginner so Danielle focused on throwing cylinders. However I wish there could be more variety in throwing different shapes- like a bowl - I learned so much from each class from wedging clay, centering, making even walls, trimming, making and attaching handles I loved my experience here and I'll be back to utilize their studio space for wheel throwing as well as glaze some of their premade pieces

We got to choose between a mug, bowl, or plate but you can modify the exact shape or depth and they help you do that! Definitely search up some ideas or a Pinterest board for inspiration beforehand since we all spent so long there trying to decide.

There is no playground, aftercare often felt more like detention than an enriching program, and over time we became concerned about significant gaps in the curriculum. The very small class sizes also became a concern for us in terms of opportunities for our children's socialization, growth, and development. Most disappointing was that the Catholic values we hoped would be reflected in compassion and empathy from church and school leadership were not always evident in our experience, particularly in the understanding shown toward our adopted children. very disappointing. For the cost, I strongly encourage families to carefully compare St. Ann's classical academy with other private and public-school options.

Not only were we opposed…read moreto many of the things that were recently placed in the state curriculum standards, we really desired our daughter to develop a love of learning. From our friends' experience and warnings, it seemed to be a major issue in both the public AND private schools and progressively worsening -- teaching for the tests, no matter what the cost to the child. When our daughter was in pre-k, I read about St. Ann Classical Academy in the newspaper. My husband and I went to visit, despite also being very critical of the Catholic schools as well (even as practicing Catholics), and we were very surprised at what we found: a school that expected us to be her primary educators and the plan to support us in her education. Classical education has been a joyful surprise. This school and its education have awoken such a love of learning in my daughter, I think my husband and I have also caught the bug. I drive 30 minutes each way for this school, and we plan on relocating in the future for it. I'm not sure how I could write a better review. Life-changing education. The kids don't even want to leave at the end of the day.
