Visited 10-Feb-2020: Mark is a real professional. I had a central vacuum hose with electric powerhead that I had converted from a "pigtail" to use "direct connect" to obtain power, but that conversion I had done years ago never fit right. I had obtained the conversion parts from MD, the OEM. Over the years the cuff broke and I searched for a replacement. MD sent me a replacement, which again didn't fit. I visited the shop from where the hose was originally purchased and they told me they couldn't fix it because it was too old (15 years perhaps), and I would have to buy a new hose for around $200. I searched online in vain. I called around locally and was referred by another central vac shop to Easy Housekeeping Shops, saying Mark could probably fix it. I contacted Mark by phone and after explaining the situation and texting a few photos, Mark said he'd have a part in a few days. Today we met for the first time and within minutes Mark had the repair made - for $20! Clearly Mark had immediately recognized what was required to perform the repair and ordered the part without hesitation. Apparently the hose ends do come in different sizes but I found no one else that either knew the difference or cared enough to locate the correct part. This is one of those places that you drive by all your life and never realize it's there. This is one of those old houses that have been turned into a vacuum repair and sales shop. "Who would EVER go there?!?" I used to think. Well, I'll tell you who. I go there. And here's why. My vacuum's belt broke. I didn't even know you could replace those. I was gonna buy a new vacuum because isn't that what you do when stuff breaks!? We live in an era of disposable technology; if it's broke, chuck it and buy the new model. After trying all the local hardware stores, I was lucky enough to be directed towards this place. It seriously looks like nothing. An old white New England home with signs for vacuum repair and numerous vacuums out on the front porch. I've driven by here a million times and never even knew it existed. I was desperate to fix my vacuum and ran inside hoping to find the correct belt. I knew the part #, and had the old belt with me. You walk inside this place and the first thing you notice is the SMELL. It smells like CLEAN. Really cool. Smells like you buried your face in a new carpet. The place was open a few minutes before the opening time posted - and people were actually coming OUT of the place with vacuum parts they had just bought. Busy place! Who knew such a store did business anymore!? The friendly guy behind the counter was able to pick out my correct belt within seconds. $3 later I'm out the door. Vacuum now works like it's old crappy self. This place was a lifesaver. I almost wish I didn't find it because I really wanted a new vacuum. Something futuristic with an ipod dock or something. That would be cool. Also learned - those "Dyson" vacuums are total crap. That's all he repairs here. If you have an older canister Electrolux vacuum - hang onto that sucker for all you're worth because those things last forever - no joke. Dyson = disposable technology. They don't make'em like they used to, folks. Well, at least Dyson is keeping this guy in business. Now if you'll excuse me, I have guests coming over and need to finish vacuuming.... read more

Wonderful experience at Easy Housekeeping Shops dealing with a couple of broken Dyson vacuum cleaners. Mark (the owner) was very professional, prompt and helpful. He recommended that one of the vacuums isn't worth repairing. Saved me $279 in repairs! I would recommend this business for both repairs and new purchases. Mark is straightforward and very knowledgeable. I will definitely be doing more business with his shop as we'll need a replacement. I went to this place based on the other review. The pedal to make my vacuum go up or down broke. The man I spoke with was very honest and said he can fix it but he'd advise me not too because it's a poor design and will likely break again. I'm really big into honesty. I'm not going to fix it now but will definitely go back to this store in the future. read more

We purchased a Miele vacuum from this shop. After two years we brought it back because the motor stopped working. The man who sold us the unit told us the warranty was not valid because he saw signs of moisture. We never used the vacuum for any type of liquid at all. He proceeded to try and sell us a new one or fix ours for $250. We thought this was a complete scam to sell us a new one or make us pay $250 extra when it should have been covered by the warranty. We contacted Miele and they gave us a new one under the warranty. They told us there was no signed of moisture at all. These guys do not run a honest business and should not be trusted. read more

This place is fabulous! Two days before Christmas last year, my 30-year old Kirby crapped out as I was getting ready for 15+ people to arrive at my house. The vacuum sounded like marbles were bouncing off the motor. Low and behold, they were able to fix it! but it would take them a few days. So they loaned me a vacuum for free and saved my Christmas party from disaster. The borrowed vacuum cleaner worked so much better than my old one, I'm going back to buy a new one from them soon. Yes this place does vacuum repair, but they repair sewing machines too. I brought mine in after it got all messed up with thread wrapped around all the machine *innards*. After they fixed MY mess up, the super nice man behind the counter explained what happened. Lo and behold I had been loading the thread wrong, and not only did they fix it, he gave me a lesson in how to properly load it. Highly recommend this place! read more

What a great store. Very organized (right when you walk in there is a sign for you to fill out your tag with your info) and I dropped off my Kenmore canister vacuum and they called the next day with an update and I picked it up a day later. The guy is super nice and labor + parts only ran me $60 - and he put in a new bag! Sears was going to charge $65 just for labor. Excellent work, highly recommended. And, they take any form of payment (Amex! cash, check, all credit cards). read more

What an awesome little shop. Went in looking for a new Miele (just found out my baby has allergies and we've got cats, ugh). The owner was there and helped us try out a few models, no annoying sales-pressure, just clear simple information about what each machine did. He was really relaxed and helpful. We bought a mid range vac and got a HEPA filter to improve its effectiveness against allergens even more. So far it's been amazing...AND they threw in a pack of free bags with the purchase. Highly recommend!! Wayyyyy better than big box stores where you have no idea what you're buying and can't try it out/talk with someone who LOVES vacuums. read more
