Eastern pavilion is a very nice Chinese food sit down. We did go on Valentine's Day which I had a feeling was going to be a bad idea. I do love this place. I come here for lunch very often because their prices are really great for lunch special however I think that having one server, I think it is the owner she was very overwhelmed since every table was filled for Valentine's Day so we were there probably about two hours. She did forget a few things that we had to ask several times, including our drinks, which wasn't wonderful, but we still had a nice night we weren't in a rush to go anywhere so I will give them that since they remodeled it's really beautiful in there so we weren't really like bothered by it. We get it but on holidays I think that they should hire more help.

Came here for dinner with some friends. Service was okay but it seemed like everytime i was looking for a waiter there was none to be found. The food is always good. My one complaint during this meal was that i ordered a seafood with taro nest dish and it did not come with the taro nest! The waiters excuse was that they dont make it anymore. My problem with this is that we paid for a dish thats suppose to have it and if they didnt make it anymore they should have said something when we ordered. When i said something to the waiter he just blew me off. Had I known we werent going to get it i would have order a different dish! That dish was not cheap and we could have ordered a similar seafood dish for probably cheaper!

The food here is always fantastic. The portions are large and it always tastes fresh. My favorite is the tangerine beef. I've gotten this dish multiple times, it's crispy and has great flavor. I've gotten food delivered as well as sat down and it's always on point! Ambiance is lovely, very modern and clean. Service is pretty good, although our waiter kept commenting on how much meat we ordered? He bought it up about 3 separate times stating "wow that is a lot of meat." That was a little odd. Overall I love this place and definitely recommend!

Let's set the dial back to 12 years ago. I'd catch the 4:49 out of Penn and my wife & kids would meet me at the Stonybrook train station. Every Friday we'd head over to Eastern Pavilion for dinner. Sometimes we'd dine in, sometimes we'd take out. We would see our neighbors at the restaurant, it was just a nice neighborhood spot. Chefs change, different owners took over and then the place slid into the trash. Read my last review, the place changed over time and the food was pretty bad that I pinkie swore off this place. I drive by the restaurant daily. I saw construction happening, praying it wouldn't change to something other than Eastern Pavilion. Sure enough, I saw the restaurant stayed Eastern Pavilion and it has reopened! I swung by for lunch today and ordered my standard: Tsingtao beer with General Taos chicken and hot&sour soup. Everything was spot on perfect. The chicken was cooked just right with not too much batter. I loved the side of edamame! The egg, it's throwing me but was still welcomed. The soup? The chef knows what I like, this too was a perfectly executed and well balanced hot & sour soup soup. I have to point out, this isn't a take out Chinese food joint. The tables are covered with crisp white tablecloths. There is a separate Sushi bar where you can sit and enjoy a tuna roll. Upstairs (I think they're still working on it) in the past we'd order a full duck dinner. Over the years we had parties upstairs, there are lots of memories at this location. Now, the kids are grown so it's just me & the Mrs. I can't wait to return and try the new sophisticated menu. Welcome back.

Doesn't look like much when you drive past, but looks can be deceiving! You walk in and its very nicely done inside, modern layout, Christmas decorations strewn about. My friend and I were sat by a very nice waiter and he was very accommodating. Answered our questions and was willing to modify our order for the evening. We ended up settling on vegetable tempura, steamed vegetables (with some choice vegetables omitted) and the Three Delicacy delight. The tempura was nicely crisp and came with a tasty dipping sauce. My friend enjoyed her vegetables. The Three Delicacy delight came with plenty of shrimp, scallops and vegetables. Wonderfully savory and filling! Overall, had a wonderful time catching up with good food. Give this place a shot if you're in the area!

Huge fan of this place! They recently did renovations for both the interior and exterior of the building. I've only been in it once or twice in the past but it looks a lot better. The food also seemed to have improved a lot and the ambiance is much nicer. I'm usually skeptical about ordering sushi at Chinese restaurants but this place did it really well! For our appetizer, Nicole and I ordered Miso Soup and Dragon roll. We then ordered a General Tso's chicken, Mau po tofu, and Chicken and Brocolli. The food tastes like a more upscaled and authentic version of Chinese food in the area. I would definitely come again and try out the different sushi options!

Bon and I have passed this venue numerous times but never visited. It was a slow weekend, Saturday nite, and we were hankering for something new. Having tried most of the other Chinese, Sezchuan and Thai restaurants we decided to try something new... Eastern Pavillion's menu covers all of the aforementioned ethnaticities so the choices were vast. Firstly, the place is on 25A, right off of Nicolls Rd...easy to find. Its a nice design and comfortable to dine in. We were welcomed immediately and our rezzy was honored. The servers were friendly, although harried, during our stay. The food...the most important aspect...was delightful. For appys we started with Pork Soup Dumplings..8/10.. nice flavor although not much soup. We tried the Pork Egg Roll which was 7/10...needed more pork filling although it was crisp and pleasant. Next and most impressive was the Dan Dan Noodles; situated in a hot red chili sauce with toothy noodles, this dish was satisfying and hot 9/10. Our mains were terrific! Mapo Tofu was perfect 10/10. ordered hot and mala and it was hot and numbing as requested. Lamb w/cumin 10/10 was the BEST! Tender lamb melted in your mouth and had a wonderful spicy cumin flavor. Last but not least, we went conventional chinese with General's Chicken 10/10, large juicy tender pieces of white meat chicken in a wonderful sauce! The Sezchuan dishes were excellent and brought with them the flavors and memories of our dining in Flushing. Its the real deal! Cant wait to return!

This place was a pleasant surprise... not much from the outside but very very nice interior.. looks like it's newly renovated.. clean and bright.. restroom is clean is well...a little pricey.. not crowded.. ample parking... they have chinese and Japanese cuisine which is great! Ordered steamed edamame although I didn't see it in the menu.. our waitress was good, followed instructions and no language barrier whatsoever... my husband ordered steamed dumpling however they topped it with chili oil so let them know ahead if u don't want any chili oil.. he also got steamed flounder.. our meals came with white rice.. I added soft tofu on my mixed vegetables and the serving was big... overall we like it and we will be back..

Let's start with the good. We went on a full Saturday night. Our waitress and waiter, despite their…read moreeerily "The Menu-esque" mannerisms, were very friendly. The waiter very enthusiastically brought me a perfectly chilled beer and a perfectly chilled glass. I dug that. The Tokyo White beer was delicious. One of the best beers I've had. Our waitress did - on at least two occasions - tell us the chef recommends that we eat the dish faster and immediately after it is placed in front of us. To her credit, she said it in the nicest possible way and we obliged. Now let's talk about the food. The first course was an oyster. Tasted like eel sauce and wasabi- but a good balance. The second course was some sort of Tataki. It was also pretty good. Tasted like eel sauce and wasabi- but a good balance. The third course was some sort of seaweed salad. It was pretty good. Tasted like eel sauce and wasabi (you might be starting to recognize a pattern). The fourth course I don't fully remember the name of. It did NOT taste like eel sauce and wasabi. It was a warm dish, temperature wise. It kind of tasted like a thick seafood/corn chowder, but it wasn't a soup and it has a shredded consistency. It was alright. The next course was what they described as some sort of chef specialty soup that had to "cook for hours and hours".. It was miso soup. It was good miso soup. As good as any $4 miso soup I've had at any good, local, non-Omakase sushi restaurant. Was it better? No. And it was served in a plastic cup. It really should've been served in some sort of a stone or ceramic cup/bowl. I don't even eat out of plastic in my own home when I'm throwing together a quick $10 meal. There may have been one more starter course- but if there was, it certainly wasn't memorable. Now we're onto the "main course" dishes. This might be the fault of my own ignorance, that I expected the dishes to be very unique and make us "oooh and ahhh". But the next five courses are just single pieces of sushi roll. The staff and the chef would show us pictures of the fish and the chef would hold up the actual fish they were using- as well as showing us the JFK shipping label to confirm that it had been flown in recently. I believe you! But these next five dishes are where the immeasurable disappointment really kicks in. Each single roll was from a different type of fish- and I'm sure it was some of the highest quality, freshest fish they could source. Unfortunately, every single piece tasted exactly the same. This is not hyperbole or an exaggeration- all five of the next courses tasted exactly the same- like an average sushi place roll but with eel sauce SATURATED rice and a big glob of wasabi. That was the only flavor profile- eel sauce and wasabi. Some of them were seared with a torch. The ones that were seared with the torch had a slightly different flavor profile- the torched ones tasted like eel sauce, wasabi and butane from the torch! Again, this is not hyperbole or exaggeration- the main course sushi rolls from this high-end Japanese restaurant all tasted exactly the same. If I had bought those rolls at a regular sushi restaurant for $20 per six pieces I would've been disappointed. It's just not good. It's boring. All you can taste is soy sauce, eel sauce, wasabi, and butane.. I truly felt like they were playing a joke on us- seeing how pretentious they could act while serving us beyond overpriced and mediocre food and watch us all eat it up both figuratively and literally. Every single $15 roll I've had from Sushi Ichi or Mt Sinai Sushi (two other local Japanese restaurants) is preferable to what they're serving at Sora Omakase. We had the option of adding on a single piece Wagyu beef roll for $30. Thankfully, I didn't fall for it. I'm sure it would've tasted like eel sauce, wasabi, and butane. Now let's move on to the last course. They called it a "dessert" - but it's another salty fish dish of some sort. I don't fully remember what it was, but I do remember that there was a little piece of plastic on top of it. So I have to awkwardly ask the chef if this piece of, what I clearly know is plastic garbage that shouldn't have made its way to my plate, is edible.. the chef feigns a language barrier and pretends like he doesn't know what I'm saying. He tells me that it's seed garnish. I say "no not the garnish- I'm asking what this little piece of plastic is" and pointed it out to him. He says " oh that's paper" and he plucks it off my dish before I had a chance to take a picture of it. I didn't expect them to give me money back or even remake it- but they barely acknowledged it and didn't even apologize for the mistake. I couldn't help but I think about the waitress, reminding me that the chef recommends eating each dish immediately for the best culinary experience. Well, I have a suggestion for the chef- for the best possible culinary experience - I recommend you make sure you don't serve a customer plastic garbage.

When we asked a question he had to find the other waiter to get the answer. Now the food. I ordered Beef Negamachi and my wife ordered the steak Negamachi. Both to say the least, Horrible. Meat was very very tough.seemed like it was old meat. We both had Plum Wine which was good but when I asked waiter #2 he seemed very confused and again had to ask waiter #1 what to do. SMH. Finally the weather has been hot and humid lately and didn't seem like AC was on. I would love to like this restaurant because it's very close to my office and could work for lunch or dinner. Not going to be. Sorry

Great quality and great tasting sushi! Nice ample traditional sushi seating. We had a very…read morecordial waitress. Green Salad was super fresh and tasty - highly recommend having with your meal. Plum wine was sooo good! My hubby said it smelled like a pastry. Must have not had a lot of sulphites since it didn't bother my allergies. My husband had the half and half roll which looked like a roll with a lot of variety such as crab shrimp, salmon and eel and also the Salmon roll. Modest prices. Asked if our meal was ok. Great place to come for dinner.
