I really wanted to like this place! I was encouraged by the Yelp reviews but I didn't see eye to eye with all the rest. I'm a huge fan of Chinese take-out, I'm always looking for a new restaurant to try so I got excited about this place just down the street from my office. With sushi available too I was extra excited! In sum: the sushi rolls were no better than grocery store quality and given that, I thought the price point was high. I also tried the chicken wings. They were super dry. The boneless spare ribs were nothing special. Fried rice was also dry. Crab Rangoon = okay. Given I tried all my favorites and there was nothing to write home about, I won't be back. Sushi in St Albans: yup, they've got it....and truth be told, it isn't bad. Keep in mind, I've not tried any of the chemically cooked actual fish sushi. I eat the fisher price of sushi, otherwise known as the rice rolled goodness stuffed with avocado, sweet potato, tofu skin, etc...so you can't take me for an expert.... I've had their general tsaos tofu, which was passable given that they didn't go to town on the tofu as well as they could have...it was actually kind of a REALLY lazy dish. I did eat their pad thai, which, I know is pretty lame given that this is an american chinese/japanese themed place....but you know what, for the price I got a hella large portion of totally edible rice noodles, tofu, scrambled eggs and chili peppers. They have the combo lunch option available for a quick business man meal...and they have moxie available (try it, goes perfect with faux Asian food). Eastern dragon doesn't claim to be the best sushi or noodle house you've ever been to...but if you're starving for some MSG, friendly service, and a full belly, they've got what you need. read more

Good value, nice service, mostly decent food. The prices are definitely good. We got an order of both sesame chicken and sesame tofu. The tofu was surprisingly good, but the chicken was surprisingly dry and had a weird texture. Maybe it was reheated? The egg drop soup tasted watered down. The two sushi rolls we got - California and sweet potato - were fine, but not anything to write home about. Not sure I'd trust the other rolls which are more dependent on high quality fish. I like this place, a lot. It may not look like much from the outside, and to be completely honest, it does not look like much from the inside either, but the food and the people who work here make it worth checking out. I go here very often, and I have never had a bad meal or poor service here once. In fact, one time I went in to grab a menu and when I came in later on, the woman who was taking orders apologized that she hadn't helped me previously, to which I explained that I had come in to grab a menu. That's what you get here, kindness and good food. I order sushi every time I go to Eastern Dragon, and I always enjoy it. I can't say enough good things about this place. Not even worth giving a second look. My server walked out without even taking my order after 10 minutes of waiting. Once I finally placed my order with a different server it only took 1 minute to get my food because they just threw sauce on cold pre-fried chicken. When I asked for a discount because the food was inedible they happily gave me half off but said " it's the new servers fault because she didn't come check on you". On Sunday (08/10), I stopped by here for lunch with my boyfriend, sister, and brother-in-law while we were on vacation in Vermont. The place looks like your standard take-out joint, but it's very clean inside, with colorful hand-painted flowers along one wall. I ordered a Philadelphia roll and the Red Dragon Roll, which came with barbecued eel, avocado, spicy tuna, and topped with tobiko. I've had my fair share of sushi across the East Coast, and I have to say, this place is on par with some of the higher-rated sushi establishments in and around the New York City metro area. I was very impressed with the presentation and flavor of the food. It turns out this restaurant has only been around since 2005. I hope it lasts, because the next time we visit Vermont, I'll make a point of coming by here again for more delicious sushi. read more

Looking for sushi in St. Albans? This is the best, er, only place to get it in the Railroad City. Sushi is pretty good - not like the best you'll ever have, but edible for sure. Chinese food here is, by and large, the best around. Not gourmet, mind you, but for things like fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, Lo mein, etc, it's better than most. If I were in Boston I'd give this 3 or 4 stars. But it isn't. They are in Vermont. St. Albans, Vermont to be exact. The town where a majority of businesses are closed on Sundays and where Maplefields, a gas station, is an acceptable place to hang out: especially now that they've got a car wash. So... 5 stars! Try the Mackerel Sashimi, the Hawaiian Roll and the Yellowtail Scallion Roll. Skip the sweet potato. You can adequately feed 4 people for 80 bucks including tip, and they refill your water for real. read more

I was in St. Albans for business and found this place on Main St. My fired and I each had the lunch special which included 6 pieces of California Roll and a choice of entree which either came with rice or salad. My friend also had a Korean Noodle Soup with Shrimp which he declared wonderful. Everything was tasty and the portions were HUGE. I chose the Sesame chicken with Pork Fried Rice. My friend chose the salad with vegetable tempura. My only complaint would be they rushed everything and brought it all out at once. I would be back to try again next time I am in town. Wasn't expecting to find a decent "Asian" restaurant in St. Albans. I haven't tried their Japanese menu yet, however, their Chinese food menu items were better than I expected. I wouldn't necessarily call this "authentic" Chinese food, but for American-Chinese food they sure were tasty. We ordered their General Tsao's Chicken (combination meal) which came with rice, and a side of your choice, and also the Singapore Rice Noodles (I asked to make it spicy, it was good). Portion sizes were very generous. For the best value, I'd recommend ordering one of their combination meals and you get lots of choices. I'd be interested in trying their sushi next time. read more

Considering this is located in St. Albans I should be able to give it 6 stars. Some of the freshest and best sushi I have had EVER. Fresh edible snapper! Cold sesame noodles that break my heart. Really good veggie dumplings with sauce that makes me crazy. And shockingly their Chinese food is incredible as well. General Tso's Chicken is actually spicy! And crispy! I don't know what to say. This place is very clean and the walls have been painted with flowers by local middle school students (nice touch). The standards for food quality are very high. People sort of get used to lower standards for Asian food prep in these parts... but these folks are amazing! Enjoy! read more

Eastern Dragon appears to have what Saint Albans seems to be lacking lately: great sushi! My last stop here resulted in wondrous surprise at the extent of choices before me when it came to ordering sushi items here. I ended up with the Fantastic Roll which has a nice gentle spiciness to it without overwhelming the palate. The rolls are large but not difficult to eat. I also ordered an appetizer of Crab Rangoon which are more like Humungous Crab Rangoon! They are filled to the brim with hot filling and use nice large pastry shells. But be careful, they are WAY hot coming out of the kitchen. Service isn't bad. Fairly attentive but not overly friendly. Prices are right in the range for what you'd expect for Asian take out but it's got a decent sit down area making it OK as a restaurant. Don't expect high end ambiance. The hot dishes they serve here are also nicely done. And I've never got take out here I didn't like. read more

This restaurant is literally the best Chinese food I have ever had. The takeout is just as good, if not better than, the dine in. The food is delicious, the sushi fresh, and I highly recommend the sesame chicken as well as the wonton soup. The prices are reasonable, with a combo meal of a main, white or fried rice, and a side( usually crab ragoons or egg rolls) at around 7 dollars. It fills you up, tastes delicious, and when you get takeout you get to keep the containers they give you the food in which makes for great Tupperware. The staff are very kind. My mother used to go and pick up our food and the owner would tell her "I put some sweet and sour chicken in extra- for the kids," 5 stars- A MUST IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FOOD IN ST. ALBANS! read more
