This is my favorite take-out Chinese place in St. A…read more Sesame Chicken is my go-to meal. It usually pretty good. The last time I went tho, there was too much breading on my chicken and left me biting into mostly bread. It still tastes pretty decent tho. Today I decided to be a little more adventurous and try something new! I picked Orange Chicken. It had a odd taste about it, maybe it was the slight hint of rice vinegar. I'm not much of a fan of vinegar! Other than that, it was decent, but won't be buying it again. Chicken fingers were yummy and, if I remember correctly, so are the chicken and beef teriyaki sticks! Got a side of white rice in a container. Maybe I'll give making some homemade fried rice a try with it!

I have been a big fan of Oriental Kitchen since they opened, but last night's experience has proven…read morethat they are quickly going downhill. We order online. It's more convenient since we have to drive 15 miles and time it with errands. After placing the order at 5pm and scheduling the pick-up at 6:45, we had the confirmation number in hand and an email of our order. At 6:45, we went to pick up the order and the staff seemed very confused. Nothing was ready and the order they pulled up and started to fill was not ours. One of the women then looked the order up online and found the correct order. At that point, everything had to be cooked still. We didn't get our food until 7:30. No discount for the mistake, no true apology, just a lot of blame thrown around from one worker to the other. Now that the ordering fiasco was over, we went home with our food. In the rush, the lack of attention to the food cooking properly wasn't ideal. The chicken wings were not fully cooked. Other foods, like the spring rolls and black pepper chicken, were horribly greasy, something I've never experienced from Oriental Kitchen before. After this, we've decided that we won't return. St. Albans has another Chinese that is just as good as Oriental Kitchen used to be.

What a pleasant surprise this was! I was coming to buy Girl Scout Cookies as they were being sold…read morethere yesterday (Friday) and I am a sucker for Girl Scouts as my nana spoiled me growing up and bought me boxes of Thin Mints whenever Girl Scout Cookie Season came around. Luckily, i was able to snag the last box of Thin Mints and a box of Trefoils, so I am not complaining. Since I was already at the location, I thought why not try the restaurant. I did not know what to expect and honestly I did not factor in that it was a buffet. Coming from Miami originally (though currently living in Saint Albans), I was lucky (no pun intended ^_^) to have had some really great buffets to experience in Miami, FL (ie. Kyojin in South Miami, Canton in Coral Gables, POC in Coral Gables) but I was craving Chinese food as I had not had any in so long. Lucky Buffet did not disappoint. They had sit down dining service as well as to go service. I am not sure if they deliver. If they did that would be amazing! But it was pretty busy which is always a good sign for a restaurant because it means they are doing good business and there is a demand for it. I ended up eating with my eyes and then my stomach because i filled 2 to go containers with a variety/assortment of foods like General Tso's chicken (my favorite), chicken & broccoli, crunchy and flavorful snap peas, crispy wonton noodles, very breaded/fluffy battered chicken tenders, and some vegetable fried rice that i doused in the General Tsao's sauce). I also got some of these Buttered scalloped potatoes which O-M-G were so darn good. They also had sliced onion mixed into the batch and no complaints there. It came out to a total of $38. There was a sign that said it was like $7.95 for pound of food and I figured I would splurge since I am not sure when I would be back there. I walk everywhere and in the cold, frigid temps, it's a bit cumbersome (and dangerous) to walk with food like that over icy sidewalks and slushy-muddy snow. I can't speak to what dining in would be like, but it seemed pretty decent. There was a steady flow of customers coming in and out which is always good to see. I also liked how they had fortune cookies sitting on display in the middle of the place for guests to take. I took about six lol I can't resist a good old fashioned fortune cookie:) If I ever happen to be walking by again, I would consider it again, but it is a lot of food. So you have to go on an empty stomach and also try not to over indulge or else you will have tummy issues. Chinese food is notorious for having MSG, but I am not sure if they use that there. I will say that they had a pretty decent dessert bar and ice cream selection. The people of Saint Albans are "lucky" to have this restaurant in their midsts. Also parking is pretty ample for those that have vehicles and the restaurant itself seemed pretty clean and well organized. If buffet items got low, they immediately would replenish them. The food was hot and ready to go. A plus was the little keychains being sold at the front at the counter. I had to get a Stitch one because I love the Stitch character. He's so cute ^_^ They also had a Spiderman one and Hello Kitty one so any fans of those characters would be pleasantly surprises and amused to see them being sold there once you check out and pay. Highly recommend this place.

Very accommodating of adjusting pork fried rice and pork spring rolls to vegetarian versions. The shrimps were huge in the entree items with plenty of veggies. I haven't been to a place that actually does both lo mein and pad thai well and this place does both things excellently. I'd avoid the broccoli and shrimp -type combos if you want flavor packed, as these seem very light on the sauce and possibly more healthy. The hunan, sesame, etc. are the more traditional American-Chinese style if that's what you're looking for. Excellent quantity and quality of protein. Only disappointment is that they have a nice window view of the lake and there are a lot of boxes covering it.

The best dish was the lobster & shrimps.. cooked really amazing!!! Shrimp were tender and succulent omg I really loved this dish and the orange beef was good too.. I didn't know they were breaded but they were delicious and so was my mixed vegetable dish super yummy.. the soups were delicious and so were the dumplings mmmm melted in my mouth! However, The rice was standard fast Chinese food.. tasted ok but not THE BEST I've had.. it just was not very soft like I like it and the fried calamari entree was also hard and not the most fresh. The delivery came very quick (15min and the guy was at my door) so I was a bit worried as some of my food might have been reheated and thats why it was not so fresh .. not everything was bad just the rice and calamari was disappointing Prices are fair and not overly priced so if you're looking for something fast but lacks a lil bit of quality for a good price this place is great ... I just like to have my chineese food super fresh .. sorry but overall it was pretty good stuff and I'll definitely re-order but maybe I'll avoid the rice next time. Thanks
