One of my favorite staple places to eat in Providence. The food is affordable, filling, healthy, and fresh. The falafel wrap is my go-to but the gyros are delicious too. I love the baba ghanoush, it's super garlicky and has that delicious roasted eggplant flavor. I also love the tabouleh - it's so fresh and herb-y! They sometimes throw in free baklavas if you come pretty regularly too. :) You really can't go wrong! East Side Pockets is one of Providence's top restaurants on Yelp for a reason. Agreed that the lines can be long during lunch hour but it moves fast! I have a new favorite lunch place in Providence and its East Side Pockets. My biggest regret of visiting Providence was not coming here sooner. Seriously, everything was so good! We visited during finals week so it wasn't crowded at all and our food came out relatively quickly. Plus the freshness, wow. They didn't have any falafel ready so they cooked it fresh for us and I pretty much burned my hand, but they were so good fresh out of the fryer. We split the chicken kabob wrap which was really good and really fresh. I got it with everything on it and enjoyed every bite. It was really filling despite its low price point. We also split the falafel appetizer and I loved the sauces it came with on the side. We debated this over a wrap but you get so much food with the appetizer that I was glad we chose it. I know that's a funny way to describe a family run business on Thayer Street, but trust me, you will find some of the most delicious middle eastern "fast food" anywhere in Rhode Island her- so good in fact, that my grandparents (who are from Lebanon) will eat and enjoy the falafel or kefta wraps when I bring them over (after scolding me for paying for food they can whip up at a moments notice) While I've had just about everything on the menu, my favorites are the falafel and the chicken wraps. Each wrap is made to order right in front of you and they can add all of your favorite veggies and toppings. What's really great is this place is open late, so any time you have a craving for some delicious, fresh, high quality food at a reasonable price you can come here. Seating is limited during peak times even though they have several booths, a few stools, and a few tables outside too. I really appreciate the owners and service I receive every time I come in. I've tried the gyros, chicken, falafel, tabouleh, rice, and hummus. I like the build a bowl style of the restaurant and I think that's what makes it popular. I would like to come in one day and try everything as it was just made. I've been coming in during rush or just after the rush, so mostly had everything that's been out. But lots of things taste better with time like hummus and tabouleh. Still, even after at least one ownership change (from the original owner Mike to his cousin), and possibly now a second since the night I visited after nearly a year away none of the "regular" staff were working. The falafel wrap is superb. It's a counter-style place and you work your way down the line saying yes or no to options (tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, tzatziki, etc) to get just what your looking for. The salads are prepared the same way, so each time can be a different experience. The line moves quickly and the food prep surface is kept SCRUPULOUSLY clean.
