Darn. I was really hoping for a killer pastrami sandwich. That did not happen.Note, this was a take out order but nonetheless the pastrami was a bit dry and in my opinion too thinly sliced. Kudos to the delicious rye bread.

I was quite impressed with this deli! I have rarely been to a kosher deli outside the NYC area which had good food and this one certainly did! The front of the deli has a store with a large variety of groceries and meats and wine. In the back is a sit down restaurant and what looks like a small catering hall. Even if you don't adhere to the rules of kashrut, I highly recommend the restaurant! The food is wonderful and the staff are pleasant!

When in the area we do our shopping for Passover and also for general kosher foods as they have a very good inventory.

No there is not. The seating is inside in the rear of a market. You have to really look to find the seating just past the deli counter

They carry specialty breads as well, some of which need to be ordered in advance. You can basically stop by on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the only days of the week that they are open, pick up your feast, and go have a picnic or celebrate something special or sacred. Their bagels are really good, chewy, authentic bagels as well, regardless of the size. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helpful and a pleasure to work with.

To be completely honest I have a hard time finding bagels like this in NYC nowadays. The homemade cream cheeses are also fantastic, the scallion and lox cream cheeses being my favorite. This place is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7am - 3pm, but the wait is worth it. Snatch a bunch up on the weekend and freeze them for the week. I've been to the Rosenberg's location in Stanley marketplace and this location is actually a lot better. The ones up in Stanley were really generic and bland when I tried it. This is the location you want to go to, trust me.

The buffet allowed me to try everything - and it's nothing like what you're picturing. There was constantly warm, fresh pita to try the hummus, whipped feta and tabbouleh. There was constantly fresh fruit out with honey yogurt that was to die for. While there was a ton of meats and cheeses to try from, the star of the show was the falafel. You can't miss trying it, it was the best falafel I've ever had. The vibes were great for brunch, and I highly recommend going for buffet style if you want to try a bunch of things on the menu.

The restaurant has this nice open feeling to it with a full bar (you can order off the full menu if a solo or pair dining) and then plenty of tables. I recommend coming with a larger group if you can so you can try lots of things. Servers are nice and attentive. Obviously you have to try various hummus plates. The foraged mushroom and brussels sprouts were my favorite. I especially loved the jalapenos on the brussels sprouts one. The hummus itself was creamy and rich and the pita they bring is warm and fresh. The tabbouleh was fine but nothing spectacular and it says it has avocado in it but I didn't detect it. I love muhammara and theirs did not disappoint. The pickled vegetables were nice but I also love pickled anything. Absolutely make sure to get the bright green falafels. Probably my favorite of the night. Perfectly crispy exterior with a soft warm center that I'd eat over and over again. We ordered the duck but I was quite full so did not taste it. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is the scallops were incredibly underwhelming and quite bland. The scallops themselves were cooked fine but no flavor and the pomegranate sauce didn't add much. There desserts were also just so-so.

There's no performance here, no hospitality theater, no one asking how the first few bites are treating you. You walk up to the counter, you order, you take a number, you sit down. The food does the talking. And the food has a lot to say. I went on a bright Wednesday morning with a couple of friends and ordered the classic breakfast, swapping bacon for pastrami (a first for me) with an everything biscuit on the side (also a first). Both were revelations. The eggs over-hard might be the best version of that order I've ever gotten from a restaurant -- just a whisper of uncooked yolk in the center, perfectly seared on both sides. Skillet potatoes were spot-on. The skillet pastrami was rich and properly crisped at the edges. And the two generous slices of sourdough arrived with a scratch-made blueberry jam that I ended up smearing on everything I could -- sourdough, biscuit, probably would've eaten it with a spoon if no one was looking. My friend ordered the breakfast sandwich, which clearly belongs in the staples category. The baguette was the star: toasted outside, pillow-soft inside, zero tug-of-war with your teeth. That detail alone tells you the kitchen cares. This is the Ron Swanson part: there's an unapologetic confidence to this place. They know exactly what they're doing, they're not trying to oversell it, and they're not interested in charming you into liking it. They're just going to hand you something excellent and trust you to figure out the rest. The coffee was good. The food was setting-a-benchmark good. A real 5 out of 5 stars, no pickin nits. Mild observation, not a complaint: the service is counter-only, no traditional table service. Would Matthew McConaughey or Reese Witherspoon dropping plates off elevate the experience? Sure. But Ron wouldn't have it any other way, and honestly, neither would I after eating here. If I lived within 45 minutes of downtown Denver, this would be my destination breakfast. As it is, I'm a 12 hour drive away, and if it were only 11, perhaps I'd go tomorrow. The real downside? The food was so good I completely forgot to take a picture.

While the former Ambli space has been brightened and renovated to look very much like an east shore market, the seating is less than comfortable. I guess the combo of poor food, bad service and uncomfortable seating is great for turning tables? I will put aside the TERRIBLE service and focus purely on the food. We ate at Zaidy's for breakfast. Many of the breakfast sandwiches are based on their in-house-made bagels. This is a failure! The bagels taste stale for "freshly made" and I find it very odd for a Jewish-themed joint to toss bacon into the sandwich (I personally love bacon, BTW). So setting aside the shanda (shame) bacon...with the cheese, there is an utter lack of seasoning. The breakfast sandwich came with home fried potatoes which were cooked nice and crisp but lacking any seasoning whatsoever. The latke grilled cheese looks appealing but is basically a greasy sponge filled with limp tomato and undercoooked cheese. And finally, the blintzes are an embarrassment to any self-respecting Jew. Zaddy's version are these small pockets that are under fried and more the size of a hamantaschen than a true blinze. I see no reason to rush back. Another few blocks down the street is Sam's 3, where a far better breakfast could be realized and Rosenberg's bagel on Monoco for better bread (albeit that Rosenberg's doesn't serve sandwiches)

Prepare yourself for a little bit of a wait if you go for brunch on the weekend. This just means Ruperts is worth the wait. Check the bar seats though, as those are first come, first serve and they serve the entire menu there as well. We lucked out and two spots were open for us so we did not have to wait for a table. We also could not pass up the cinnamon roll that was so elegantly advertised in front of us! When in Sloan's Lake, Ruperts will be my choice of restaurants. My husband had their classic burger; he added cheddar cheese and jalapeno bacon, and we both had oat milk cappuccinos. The coffee was good. Everything we had really hit the spot and was exactly what we wanted. We did have about a 25 minute wait on a busy, gorgeous Sunday afternoon. We opted to sit inside to be seated quicker, since most people were waiting to be seated out on the patio overlooking Sloan's Lake. Such a great spot!
