Amazing Place for an Evening Stroll…read more Guildwood Park and Gardens is a nice little spot for a stroll. With nicely kept walking paths, gardens, sculptures and an outdoor stage give it a try yourself. It is also home to the Guild Inn Estate, where you book events and rent it out as a banquet facility. We spent the day exploring the water and were looking for somewhere to take a nice walk just before we left the area. This park is connected to other parks and trails along the Scarborough Bluffs. It's good for groups, families, couples, bike riding and the solo traveller. If you're ever in the area check it out yourself.

Part of the Scarborough Bluffs technically, it tends to be a bit less crowded. I always enjoy coming here and being able to wander the trails close to the cliffs to take in the water views! And on your way there, see the various sculptures, columns and art work scattered throughout the park. Check out online as there are maps/info that will make sure you don't miss out on any of the art works. Many engagement and family photos are done here. There is even the Guild Inn and the event building for weddings/celebrations etc. The park/trails are clean, plenty of open space to chill on a picnic blanket or have the kids run around. Coming here in fall is spectacular as the leaves changing colours makes it lovely. A hidden gem out in the open :) Plenty of free parking!

Having visited Canada's latest and largest urban wilderness park, Rouge National Urban Park, many…read moretimes over the years, I have always wondered what this river does south of the 401. Normally we access the Rouge by heading up past the Toronto Zoo on Meadowvale in Scarborough north of the 401. Following the sometimes incorrect gps map we found ourselves immersed in an array of suburban homes on quiet streets will hills and curves and eventually saw a City of Toronto parks and rec sign for Cedar Ridge Park and Gardens. Sounded perfect! Alas, there was a sign at the empty parking lot saying it was for authorized parking only. We took that as a No Parking sign. After getting over that shocker, we realized that the streets around were mostly empty with free parking everywhere only a few steps away. From the City website: "Cedar Ridge Park is popular for wedding photography and a beautiful spot for a picnic. It's also home to the Cedar Ridge Creative Centre where the City runs Creative Arts programs." It also says they have a couple bike trails so bring your two-wheeler. With massive trees around the empty parking lot, the forest drew us in with its beauty and we were on our way down an unmarked path that wound its way down a hill toward the Rouge. Well, at least we thought it was the Rouge, but looking at the map the Rouge is further east and this is Highland Creek. Oh well, next time we will explore further! It's a beautiful area regardless and with Highland Creek meandering through the area, a lush green canopy can be expected in the warmer times of the year.

I wonder if it belonged to the McClains. It was interesting to walk through the house on the path.  The gardens are 23 acres in total. There's a parking lot, washroom facilities, a drinking fountain (not sure who's using it during COVID-19 though), a pergola that surrounds a rock fountain, braille signage, plenty of benches throughout, and beautiful planters with various plants and flowers. I was delighted to see monarch butterflies and happened to take a few photos of them. The flowers are beautiful and the view of Lake Ontario is stunning. It's also really nice that the trees here are mature and provide a lot of shade on hot summer days.

It's not a huge park by any means - but it is extremely well maintained and BEAUTIFUTL. The grounds - oh man - flowers/plants all over, rose gardens towards the back (by the gazebo), plenty of trees to provide shade (great area for picnics b/c there is actually a lot of open space) The middle has a beautiful garden, with plenty of bench seating and a large rock statue - which is actually a fountain (I believe it goes off once and hour). You can walk around and see water views (you cannot walk to the Bluffs from within the garden). Plenty of parking - free parking lots. Already planning a picnic with my friends. If you want a calming place to go relax in a bustling city...head on over...but shhh..don't tell too many people ;)
