We recently brought our Cat McLovin to East hill Vet veterinarian clinic. We were very happy with his care. He was groomed and given his annual rabies shot. We will be bringing our dog there for sure. read more

Great experience! Vet was knowledgeable and took great care of Mango. Best Vet in Willits, hands down. Looks like some of the critics need to see a Vet for themselves. Pricing was upfront, so if there was an issue, shame on the stupid customer. Can't fix stupid people. Unless maybe you take them to the VET. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Chana since I moved back here in 2009, and she is wonderful. She has supported us during difficult times, such as when we had to say goodbye to our dogs. She was also there when we welcomed a new puppy into our home. Dr. Chana has always shown that she truly cares. I am not familiar with any other rs that have joined in her practice in the last few years but as for Dr. Chana, she's the best. Thank you for your service. read more

Dr Chana is a good veterinarian, but does not disclose costs of making a Fill in appointment $119.00 but she actually did not advise of the cost of a flea medication for a 15 lb shitzu, but she gave the shot, then I was informed that rhe cost of it would be $360.00 I stopped her from the 2nd shot so the total cost was $302.00, to be told it was fleas...if I were told about the cost I would have made a different decision and give the dog a flea dip at home for less than $50.00 all she could have done was let me know the price to make an informed decision...we do not make a bunch of money and try to make the best decisions for our budget and our pups, that does not seem like too much to ask does it? Again, I am sure she is a knowledgeable vet, however I cannot help but think she is not an ethical business owner because what she did...we will be taking our pups to a different practitioner and recommend others do the same... After posting this review Dr Chana called us yelling about an honest review from our perspective and called our little shitzu a "Shit ass dog" i am not kidding, whe insulted me and hung up...again...her ability as a vet is not the issue, however her business practices are even more horrendous than I had originally thought, being a business owner and entrusting your beloved pet to someone that volital should be thought over before taking your pet to her...again...all she had to do is inform me of the cost so I could make an informed decision rather than charging a buku and forcing payment...I will repeat.. Her abilty is not the issue...non disclosure of cost is the issue...I truly hope she learns from these reviews and improves her customer service...her clinic is very clean, her employees are very nice people and i have no issues with their customer service. Lastly I am a care giver to my mom who was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and she cannot live alone as she is prone to falling, and at 83 I will not put her in a home, prior to tht I saw my father out with as much dignity as dementia permits...for this she tried to insult me about it...shameful...someone with this temperament should probably find a way to maintain themselves in a bit more dignified manner... and calling a elderly doge that survived the Santa Rosa fires and was adopted by lifelong friends, sadly the husband got Alzhiemers(sp) and his wife died of inoperable brain tumor, we adopted the dog to put their minds at ease, only to be called a "shit ass dog" seemed a bit inappropriate...very sad for her...I will include her in prayers and truly wish her no ill will, these reviews should be used to learn and improve a business... read more

i want to preface that out of my 3 dogs - the ones that have never been to a vet - are healthy as can be. They had rabies shot and the puppy vaccination that is it. i have noticed the new thing is upselling stuff you don't need and do not work or is harmful. We took out pocket bully in and they did not fix her issue of licking paws (yeast?) and failure to thrive. I was talked into a chewable parasite med and it almost killed my dog on month 2. she was lethargic and losing weight - she is only 18 months old. I looked medication up and it has killed 5000 dogs and there was a class action suit in 2022 and the new and improved version is worse. Why was I not informed of this? how do you recommend this med - they have no right to recklessly give this med and not warn. I am super pissed off - 380$ to hurt my dog. I do not like how they take my dog out of room to do tests. I'm done with vets- only hoilistic now on- its a scam like big pharma. read more

If she killed your baby You would understand. She talks and takes time but does not know beyond talking. Yes I trusted her too, but she killed our Mia. She did not give Mia the correct medication. Mia had 70 percent change to get better. Petcare threw out all the Meds this horrible vet gave Mia. They threw each one in the garage in front of me and said this won't help her. This Vet should never be allowed to practice! read more

After Covid a new groomer started here. We had to drop off at 9:30 and told no appointments because she works on all of the dogs throughout the day. We were charged more than $20 over her quoted price when we picked up our dog. She said she charges by the hour. We did not want to afford her high cost but it is hard to find groomers who don't have bad reviews in our area. The second time we went, there was a typed, three page long contract for customers to sign! Includes paying for emergency vet treatment if injury occurs during grooming, paying for longer groom time, possible incomplete groom, need to sedate etc.!! REALLY? Did not sign and will not return! Do not want to sign away liability and pay an incompetent groomer top dollar for an injured, partially groomed, sedated miniature poodle with an added vet bill! read more

I took my dog there during the Covid scare and for the first time in 55 years of owning dogs I allowed them to take my dog alone from my car into the clinic. This was for a rash on the stomach. 20 minutes later I was called to pick up my dog at the front entrance. The helper had a bag of 4 medicines and a bill for 600 dollars. No explanation about potential side effects of the meds or what the condition might be. I explained that I had 375 dollars and asked if I might pay for the most critical ones and would return later with the added funds to pay for the rest. The person holding the bag of meds said to return with the full amount before I could take the meds needed. This was after she took my 375 dollars. I called the other vet in town and he told me not to give my dog the powerful immunosuppressant drug prescribed without a good understanding of the negative side effects. I treated my dog with apple cider vinegar spray and the rash went away in a week. Dr. Grasse was a friend and a great vet as opposed to this scam practice milking our community and posing unnecessary harm to our beloved animals. Please beware taking any animal you love to this charlatan. read more

We have been faithful customers/ patients at East hill vet for four years. We have four pets under their care, and are diligent about our pets receiving adequate care, which brings us into this establishment on a seasonal basis. We have pets on restricted diets and use EastHill for food dispensary over using larger internet based brands because we like to support small business. Over the past four years we have spent THOUSANDS on vet care. Every time we visit Ive felt like we are sold on expensive treatments, and services that are not absolutely necessary, but are always happy to accept medical advice to pay our bills. With that being said, what happened today confirms my feelings of "being raked over the coals" by this practice. My partner and I are welcoming our first child into the world in August, being 6 months pregnant during a global pandemic has been difficult to say the least. My partner made an appointment over a month ago to have our cats annual shots/ check up. We made the mistake of missing our appointment, which is fully our fault and both of us felt absolutely terrible about. The two cats appointment times took up the portion of a one hour slot. We were totally understanding and accepting of the fact that we are expected to pay a no show fee, but then was informed that we would be getting a fee for both animals that were scheduled for the one hour time slot for a total of $92 dollars. Mind you, this is the only appointment we have ever missed in the 4 years of history at this practice, we are in the midst of a global pandemic that has 1 in 4 people collecting unemployment (covid 19) and are in a position of bringing a human life into the world. Finances are tight right now to say the least. Dr. Chana refused to look at this situation with empathy and work with us, and accused me of "bullying" her, and her receptionist for simply stating the reasons of why we were not in a position to pay $92 for a missed appointment at this time. She absolutely refused to work with us on this matter. I'm disappointed at the lack of professionalism in Dr. Chana's response to the situation and will be transferring care to another vet indefinitely. Judging by the responses on the other one star reviews, it is apparent I am not the only person who has dealt with this kind of behavior from this Veterinarian. read more

I can't say enough about how caring and compassionate Dr. Chana and her staff are. They have always treated my pets well and with care. During an emergency I was forced to take my pup to Ukiah. Not one vet would see her without a $300 deposit and the 2 different Vets I went to didn't care. It was really sad. When I got to Willits Dr. Chana took great care of her with no extra charges and her staff called everyday after to see how my pup was doing. That has been the case every time I've brought my pets in for injuries, illness, or their check ups and shots. They have always been taken care of to the highest standards and I have always been treated with respect. I highly recommend East Hill Veterinary Clinic. read more

My perfectly healthy dog was attacked and had a substantial wound on his neck. We were told that part of the skin (in his neck) was dying and that he would need a skin flap surgery urgently. The vet quoted 4K to 6K with a certified surgeon. I understand that that was the Dr opinion, and I respect that, what I do have a problem with is the way information was given to us. I asked more than once if he would make it without the fancy surgery (it was a dog fight after all) I was never given a straight answer.. and the Dr made it sound with out being direct that his chances of survival would be very slim with out it. I cannot explain the amount of stress and grief that it caused in our family, we didn't have the money to pay for the surgery and they made us feel like because we couldn't afford it he would die. Having a dog/family member hurt is traumatic enough, and on top of that this very young, well intended, i suppose, vet , made us feel even worse during a very stressful time. East hill is NOT experienced nor compassionate enough to handle emergencies. They are great at billing you promptly and ruthlessly. No! read more

I've been bringing my pets here since I was a teenager and the entire staff is amazing! The receptionists, especially Amber are professional, knowledgeable, and patient, even during emergencies. The place is impeccably clean but still feels comfortable when you're greeted by a cat who spends its days in the front window. The building has a great rustic feel, located in the rural Willits valley and it looks like a large, red barn. Dr. Kessler goes above and beyond with everything she does! She's caring, professional, compassionate, and brilliant. My animals are actually excited to see her! I have an extremely rare breed of dog, making it somewhat difficult to find a vet with the knowledge and experience to treat him. Dr. Kessler has never let that stop her from giving him the best care ever. We East Hill! read more

After bringing our cat Winston in for a catheter he's now dead. Originally talking to the doctor who did the procedure she admitted that she was worried he was given too many drugs and they would find out the cause of death free of charge. I feel lied to and bamboozled and feel like the vets should be taking a lot more responsibility especially considering the doctor went back on a lot of what she said prior. Trash vet. Really devastated and disgusted. read more

These people are the least compassionate vets out there my dog was recently hit by a car and they said it would be 1200 just for xrays to see if her lung was punctured or to see if any broken bones, my dog was a patient there and had been there for shots and heart worm meds so it wasnt like i wasnt a client.. i was frantic and tried to give them a care credit card and they said they didnt take that and if i did not have money i had to leave !! my dog is about to die in my arms and they threw us out !!! never take your pets here.. the power of the internet is out there assholes and word will get out there about you...i just dont understand and deeply hurt with the way i was treated.. read more

If I could give 100 stars I would because there is no better Vet clinic in Mendo County than East Hill. I'm in cat rescue so have more cats that need to be seen every week, many more than the average person, so have been there zillions of times. Dr. Chana is an extremely knowledgeable, capable and compassionate vet who cares deeply about every animal she sees. She's an "animal lover" as much as anyone I know and gives her all and then some to providing the most competent, caring and thorough veterinary care. She's a heart person, loving and kind but she also provides cutting edge veterinary care, tells it like it is, offers alternatives when available and allows you to be an interactive partner in making decisions about your animals health care choices. She's fabulous...educated, experienced; continually attending educational conferences and on top of the current research being conducted in veterinary medicine. She's an amazing vet and I guarantee, though we have some great vets in the Willits/Ukiah area, there are none that surpass her in skill or in their commitment to excellence. The reception staff are friendly, welcoming, very helpful professionals who are efficient, skillful and competent in keep everything moving along on time. They do an epic job of handling special requests, last minute changes and emergencies. Especially Amber who has been there many years and is completely committed to keeping things organized and running smoothly while providing the absolute best customer service. I've been to every vet clinic in Willits, Redwood Valley and Ukiah, plus Veterinary Specialists in Santa Rosa and San Francisco. But this is the Vet Clinic I always return to because I want all my animals to get superlative care. Dr. Kessler is also a great vet. She's done many of the surgeries on my rescue animals and feral cats, accommodating them on very short notice and treated my own dogs and cats. She's likewise extremely competent, caring and a lovely person to interact with. She's more than excellent with the best bedside manner. read more

Super friendly service. They helped me get my dog back. My husband and I live in Oakland and someone found/took my dog. I prayed they'd take her to the vet to get checked and claim her. Luckily the vet did a thorough check and scanned her. Called me immediately. Now I have my doggy back because they did their job right! I'm so thankful to you ladies!! You saved me from crying another night waiting for the return of my fur baby and on my birthday too! I can't thank you enough for the relief you gave me. read more

My dog was recently attacked by a bear and has to be taken to an emergency vet in Santa Rosa for treatment. East Hill has been our vet for almost 5 years for our two dogs. We aren't "big spenders" with grooming or extra care, our dogs go when they are due for vaccinations and their yearly exams. Anyway, I called to schedule a drain removal for my dog and follow up care. I picked up probiotics for her Wednesday and spoke to the receptionist about my concerns about removing the drains Friday because there was still a great amount of fluid draining from them. I said I wanted to discuss this with the doctor before the procedure. She said that wasn't a problem and once the doctor examined her, she would talk to me. So I take her to her appointment on Friday afternoon. Instead of giving me an exam room, they take my dog straight to the back to be examined. The receptionist comes out a few minutes later and says the doctor has some concerns and recommended some other treatment. I asked what that means and what it will cost, she said the doctor will work up a quote and come talk to me. I ended up waiting 2 1/2 hours, checked in a couple times to see when I would get to speak with the doctor and kept getting, she'll be with you as soon as possible, she's having a very busy day. The last time I came in, the receptionist told me she was my dog. Another dog was yelping in the back, the second receptionist went to the back, came back up front and told the other woman waiting that the doctor was simply shaving her dogs hurt toe, not causing it pain. After the doctor came out and explained to the other patient what was happening with her dog, she asked if I had been helped. I said that I've been waiting over two hours to speak with the doctor about my dog that was in the back. She then walked away to the back. Finally, after the office was closed and all the other patients had left, she came out holding the estimate for my dogs care. She spoke extremely rude to me, and when I told her attitude was not appreciated, she replied that I was "stressing me out by saying you've been waiting when I'm dealing with real emergencies". The estimate included an emergency visit fee, when I had an appointment, but they now wanted to keep my dog and charge me to flush and stitch the sites where the drains were removed. I was confused because the drains weren't supposed to be removed until I spoke with her about it, that's what I thought I was waiting for!!! I told her that is ridiculous and I'm not paying that. She then got very loud and yelled, " so you're refusing this treatment?" I replied with yes, bring me my dog. She informed me my dog has gapping holes. Her attitude did not instill any trust and I feared for my dogs well being leaving her there. She went to the back and yelled, " get the dog out!" I told the receptionist my dogs will never be back so wanted their records. She said she has to print at a different printer. When they brought my dog out bleeding, I was angry. I got in a heated discussion with the receptionist about how she knew Wednesday I had concerns about this and wanted to speak to the doctor and I had continued to ask to speak to her, how dare she let this happen when I continued to ask for the doctor before anything was done!!!! The other receptionist then told me to leave the building, so I did. I will never recommend this vet's office again and will never return with my pets. I do not trust they have the pets best interest at heart, but making money!! read more

I was a client of Dr. Grasse`s many years ago and loved him. I wish that I could say the same about Dr. C. She is RUDE and cannot take what she dishes out when someone responds in kind to her bad attitude. She also did not complete the exam on one of our cats, yet charged us full amount for it, and refused to respond when I asked for follow-up in writing or by phone. I had to talk to 4 different staffers concerning this appointment and they screwed up the appointment time, calling my partner and confusing him by telling him that our appointment was at 9:00. When I called to check that, they said no, it was 9:30. Then the groomer seemed to have trouble with my phone number, which no one else has had. Ever. THEN I had to do an interview over the phone due to COVID issues on my end, which seemed to be a waste of time since they apparently did not pass along the info to the doc because she refused to answer the important vet question I had about my cat! I am afraid for my cats to be drugged to groom, which the vet did not previously have to do, but now have to and it costs an extra $250!!! Her final word to me, in a really ugly tone, was `come get your cats.` Her staff is very nice and understanding. She can learn a great deal from them. I give her a BIG FAT ZERO. read more

This is the best vet around. Dr Hannah is amazing and best of all she truly cares about your animals. We've had her put down an elderly dog. Our fourteen year old Boxer Pit Bull cross woke up this morning with facial swelling. I called our vet first (Yokayo Vet Center) but they were closed due to an evacuation from yesterday. I then called East Hill Veterinary Clinic and was told to contact our regular vet due to the age of our dog and the fact they didn't have any of our dogs records and then claimed they were short staffed there was nothing they could do for our dog. At the time the swelling was continuing but even that did not seem to matter to East Hill. We left for Ukiah hoping to find a vet that could see our dog before she possibly passed away. Ukiah Animal Hospital told us to bring her in and they could keep an eye on her until the vet could see her. We got to the vet's office and they took her right in. The vet (Dr. Haynes) fit her in and diagnosed the problem and set up a treatment program for her. Thankfully it wasn't life threatening, but could have been. So I say thank you to Ukiah Animal Hospital for their care and compassion with our dog. To East Hill Veterinary Hospital Clinic I say thanks for nothing. read more

I'm updating this review after speaking with Dr. Chana Eisenstein. She spent a good half hour on the phone (after hours) discussing my concerns about the practice, the apparent "money first" culture that I spoke about in my first review and my cat's condition. I found her to be extremely professional and caring about her clients and our pets and seems willing to explore whether any issues may exist in the office. She is knowledgeable and generous with her time. I'm convinced that the issues that I wrote about in my first review were an exception and do not reflect the way the clinic is typically managed. read more

My dog got into a fight at 5pm but they were only open until 5:30... these ladies were awesome and stayed a couple hours late to take care of my emergency. Super nice and knowledgeable they listened and remembered when I said that amoxicillin wouldn't work for him. I'm super greatful and happy. Dr Chana saw my dog in next day care, even though we were new to her clinic. This was very heartwarming as I thought my dog had a foxtail caught in her throat. Dr. Chana Eisenstein took over East Hill Vet from Dr. Grasse, whom my Mom had gone to for years. I was most impressed with Dr. Chana, from the beginning as she cares for an animal in terms of their whole well being, not only what you brought your precious pet in for, but how it might even relate to other things going on emotionally, physically, mentally. How one wishes for their own medical doctor to be like that. Dr. Chana is very affordable, with even at times some small service fees waived, and, always explains in advance what charges will be for, what is necessary, and what might be elective, and why. Barring any medical emergency with another's precious one, she keeps her appointments pretty close to scheduled appointment times. Dr. Chana also makes herself available for consultation over the phone and online. He website has many interesting articles on our pet's well being. read more

I only gave one star to post this review. Horrible experience. I took my 3 year old dog, Goose here to get his Wellness where he was cleared to be a healthy dog, even with symptoms I noted in the visit. Shortly after I brought him in for itchy rash and discomfort. He was given an injection and a Ceresco collar evening after he had already taken flea meds. I brought him home and he seemed worse. He was panting and comfortable. I called the vet she told me to take this arrest of Colorado and that he was possibly having a reaction. No follow-up was given. Shortly after that I brought him in after his symptoms became worse and he was trembling in pain. I thought he had possibly swallowed a raw hyde and was in digestive trouble. I left him there for 8 hrs. Dr. Chana called and said she looked him over and spent time with him and everything seemed normal. She said she could run some labs. Called back said labs were normal. I again spoke of the digestive issues, thinking he had something in there and maybe they should look at that. Her response "oh well I guess I could do an x-ray" (ya think?). Calls back saying it looks like he may have had something in there but she thinks it will pass and that she noted some "arthritis" on his X-ray. I said "at 3 yrs. old?" Her response since I got him from a shelter was "he's had a rough life it could be from some trauma or something. I'll send you home with some pain meds". I go to pick up my dog and get presented with over an $800 bill. I was in complete shock. No real answers as to what's going on with my dog and an $800 bill. Then she asked me "what's up with his right foot?" I assumed she had checked it over an answered "I don't know maybe he's just having trouble walking on this floor because he scared of hardwood floors. I'm not the Vet here. She suggested no follow up, no follow-up testing nothing. I left with my dog to go home still sick and still trembling. I go to get a second opinion and within minutes the vet notes that the dog has something wrong with the spine. He Thoroughly read over the x-ray report with me. He noted it could be a congenital defect because of his age or something neurological and suggested further testing. They also found a big wound in between his paw pads that needed to be attended to with antibiotics and a cream in the right foot, which was the reason he was limping on that paw. We ended up finding out with further testing that goose had a pretty major diagnosis, Megaesophagus. He ended up becoming very ill and passed. To make a much longer story short I expressed my opinion on why I was so upset with that that on Facebook and said I was going to call and complain. Within minutes I get a phone call from Dr. Chana at East Hill saying she's returning my call. I hadn't even called yet. When I expressed my concerns to her she argued back with me in a very unprofessional manner. She was heated and defensive. I had told her about the charges that were on my bill that I didn't OK for her to do. She responded with "oh you're going to get upset over a couple of injections". I explained I am a single mom I don't have a lot of money and things need to be okayed with me. These were pills that could have been given, but she chose to without my consent to give two very expensive injections. She did not refund me the money. She said of course their first priority is the care of the animals. Obviously you see that where that took the dog, she had no idea what was wrong with this dog nor did their other vet even after a wellness check they did not pick up on any of these major conditions that he had. Incompetent, rude and extremely unprofessional, especially in her manner of conversing. They did not take proper care of this animal. They did not use professionalism with the formal complaint. When I had to take him to the specialty vet for testing which included an x-ray, a barium swallow, a full endoscopy, anesthesia, medicines, fluids under the skin, labs, and all daycare, the bill was just $50 more than the bill they gave me that day for absolutely no answers and no follow-up. read more

I would NOT recommend this veterinary at all !!! I am new to town n took my dog for his year control at east hill vet cuz its close to my house, Dr Hanna got my dog the ONE shot I require, ASSUMING he need it another one she gave him the Bordetella vaccine with out asking me if i wanted to give that to my dog, I DIDN'T, my dog does NOT need it !!!! it's require only for dogs that go to boarding/kennels.(my dog never goes) there is significant potential risk with that vaccine and all of them, if that's not enough the vaccine is unlikely to prevent kennel cough,it can even produce kennel cough symptoms. You can check the WSAVA guidelines for more info. It can also cause a anaphylactoid reaction, look it up, you won't like it. i am so irritated with the professionalism of this vet ASSUMING for your dog well bieng, Oh yeah don't forget that you have to pay for her mistake. I WONT TRUST ANYBODY THERE !! read more
