This place is a great local option for takeout (not open for dine-in right now). The menu was too hard for me to locate online (the "unofficial" website doesn't seem super trustworthy and the google reviews page only shows two of the four-page menu---and neither seem consistent to the Yelp menu, which may be the most accurate?). I drove into town and picked up a paper version, placed my order, and hung around for fifteen minutes until it was ready. I was happy to see mapo tofu on the menu, and it didn't disappoint! I love the not-sweet flavor of the dish. My wife and I get take out from East Garden on the first Friday of every month-a tradition we've been keeping for over a year. We call in our order and it's ready for pickup in less than 15 minutes. The food is good, hot and inexpensive. And the portions are so generous that we have leftovers for lunch the next day.Another benefit is the food containers are very high quality and can be reused many times. Its just a small and unassuming place. But I have been going here regularly for most of my life. The staff is always friendly and fast. I have been allover the country but this place has the best General tso's and crab rangoons I have ever had. Sometimes the rice is a little stale but thats my only complaint. Its good place for a quick Chinese meal, but its nothing authentic. Everything is either fried of has a lot of oil in it, not a big fan of it but its tolerable. Moving to the area in 2006 I quickly discovered this hidden gem. Great food at a decent price. I recommend the C17 combination meal (General Tso's Chicken) with beef teriyaki and pork fried rice with a side order of their crab rangoons. read more

Very good Chinese food for a small town such as Randolph, VT, but the service was very distracted and slow, especially considering the fact that I was the only one in the restaurant at the time. I believe they were possibly prepping for the dinner rush, however I had to physically go back in the kitchen and yell across it to get the attention of the manager so I could pay my bill. Recently vacationed in Vermont and this was one of the only places we could find that was open on a Monday night for dinner, so we tried this place. The food was quite good, the service was good considering there was one person out front who was waiting tables, running the register and taking phone orders. The only criticism I had about the food was that the hot and spicy soup was very spicy! I like spicy, but this was just a bit too hot even to me. It made it a little hard to taste my meal that came after. When dining here, keep in mind the dinner portion sizes are HUGE. My husband and I had skipped lunch the day we went there and were both starving when we ordered and yet we each could only eat half of our meals. Particularly if you order soup or an appetizer, you may consider splitting a meal with someone or planning to have leftovers for lunch the next day like we did. This was our go to place. We like the food and prices and while those remain okay, service has gone downhill the last two times we went. The first time our party of three had two people served and after ten minutes it became apparent that they never put in the third order. The next time our party of two went, they never came back to our table once they had dropped the plates. We had to ask for a take out box, we had to request our check. They were just sitting there reading the paper and eating their lunch which I assume they thought took priority over our lunch. This needs to improve or we will find another option. read more

When Annie and Bill ran East Garden the food was consistently good. They have some new staff that are not doing well. There is a new snotty young waitress. For two visits in a row she messed up my order, bringing me the wrong sides and appetizers. I was not alone, my friend also received strange food. When we asked that she return our plates and bring the correct order we were shocked by her response. She actually started taking food from my friend's plate and putting it on my plate and visa versa! That was not the correction I had in mind. I soon found out that asking for a different approach was going to make things worse....she got huffy, very huffy. She should not be waiting tables! Additionally the food quality has been unpredictable. When Tim cooks it is delicious, but there is somebody else back there who needs some further training. Sometimes the Szechuan is too hot to eat. I miss Annie in the restaurant waiting tables and singing beautifully, and Bill cooking it up in the kitchen. read more

We've been eating here since this place opened several years ago. I agree that during slow times the service can be ... erratic. It's a family run business and if you catch them while they're eating or preparing food, things can be somewhat slow. It's a good place to go for dinner, evening takeout or to get one of their cheap and tasty lunch specials. They have a few bigger tables so it's good for groups as well. I'm happy the place has a lot of options including scallion pancakes (a personal favorite) and some delicious soup options if you're not looking for a big meal. I usually get one of their combination plates which are easily two meals full of food. It's basically a solidly decent Chinese food place, better than average (and better than the other one in town) and a good place to get a hot meal particularly in the dead of winter. read more

I mean As far as Chinese food goes its pretty great! As a teenager with not a whole lot of extra spending money, its nice to be able to get a hardy tasty ( probably not so healthy) meal at East garden. They have a great atmosphere and a very nice staff, they all understand english very well and they fully cook all there food, no icky cold pockets. The food is good both take out and dine in. An average entree is about $10 I recommend the beef and chicken teriyaki and the boneless ribs. Very nice to have around, not a 5 star restaurant but 5 star Chinese. I would like to say that this is the worst service that I have ever had!!. I drove there and ordered my food, the lady was very rude and kept cutting me off as I was ordering saying mm hum okay anything else... like she didn't care or was listening. This proved to be true when I went to pick up my order and it was incorrect! I told her that it was and she proceeded to rip the bag open and take out was wrong. I said I'll keep the wrong order (it was only 1 wrong thing out of the order) and she said uh uhh no. I asked if I would have to wait again for the right order and she said YES with no empathy. I proceeded to tell them to take there whole order back since they could not own their mistake. Then when I got my money back it wasn't the full amount and they argued it... They apparently don't put the tax on the original slip that they staple to your food. Anyway this is the worst service that I have ever received as a customer and would not recommend this place to anyone that want's to be treated as a valued customer!!!
