Borker Transmission Service - how to stole money

Borker Transmission Service

A perfect mix of old school know how and exemplary customer service, all the while keeping up with…read moresolutions for modern vehicles. No wonder this local shop has been in business for well over 50 years!  Here's my story. The automatic transmission on my 2014 Ford Focus went bad at 105,000 miles. Unfortunately that particular transmission has many issues. Apparently, that vehicle has an automatic transmission based off of a manual transmission design. After reading nightmare stories online of other people's experiences with this vehicle's transmission it seems like I'm lucky it went that many miles. So at first I took it to the dealer who said the battery was bad causing the issues. They soaked me for a battery and then subsequently stated, "well while the battery was bad now we can see the clutch and many other internal parts on the transmission need replacing. Many thousands of dollars. Since I felt robbed from the battery diagnosis, I wasn't gonna allow them to do the transmission. At this point, I had the car towed to Borker.  Vito at Booker was well versed in this odd transmission and had all the speciality tools on hand needed to replace the internal transmission parts. No BS, no soaking me for parts I didn't need, all while saving me almost $1000.00 from the dealer cost. I was also back up and running after a few days. What more can you ask for.

I had a very disappointing experience with Herbie Auto in Bayonne, NJ…read more On May 7th, I brought my car in for a wheel alignment. I spoke with a man there who quoted me $95. He asked when I needed the car back, and when I asked how long it would take, he told me it would be ready by 1:30 PM. We exchanged information, and I left the car there. Around 1:30 PM, I called to check if the car was ready, and he told me to give him another 20 minutes. I said okay and left my house shortly after to pick it up. When I arrived, he told me everything was good, I paid cash, and went home. The very next day, while driving to work on I-78, I noticed the car did not feel right. Over the next several days, it continued driving poorly. On Wednesday, May 13th, I took my car to Hudson Nissan for another wheel alignment because they use alignment sensors during inspection. I explained the recent work that had been done. During their inspection, they discovered that the front driver-side tie rod had been overheated to the point that the metal became brittle and damaged. At no point did Herbie Auto contact me to explain they were having difficulty performing the alignment or that additional repairs might be needed. After leaving Nissan, I went to my regular mechanic, who confirmed that the tie rods now need to be replaced before another alignment can even be performed. I understand that issues can happen during repairs, but the lack of communication and the damage caused to my vehicle is unacceptable. I trusted them with my car and now have to pay significantly more money to repair the damage and redo the alignment properly.
