I was in search of an auto shop to do my state inspection and by chance Able Auto was the closest to my location. Upon arrival I was I immediately greeted and taken into the office to start the process. Julio, whom I believe is the owner, took excellent care of me and walked me through exactly what his team was going to do. From start to finish it took about an hour between other customers and some additional work I had done on the car. I'm new to the area and it was so refreshing to be taken care of by a local business. While waiting I had a lovely conversation with Julio and will absolutely be going back for my next oil change. I took a 2002 Dodge Dakota SXT to Able Autoworks on 10/16/2017 around 11:00 a.m. I needed the Valve Cover Gaskets on both sides replaced. I provided the part. The mechanic was professional, courteous, and spoke confidently about the repair. I met him when I arrived. He checked on the computer and quoted a reasonable price within a few minutes of arriving. I left the truck and returned to pick it up about 6:15 p.m. The owner, presumably, had called me a little earlier to inform me the work was finished. They're open until 7 p.m., which is convenient for those of us who work until 5 or 6 p.m. The mechanic cleaned off the valve covers, and he mentioned the gaskets were not as bad as expected. Appreciated the cleaning of the covers. Payment was easy - they take Visa, for example. I believe I worked with the Owner when checking out. He was also professional and courteous. He was finishing a conversation with another customer regarding conventional vs. synthetic oil, and then processed my payment. I plan to return for future automotive needs. Thanks guys. read more

I would give this place 0 starts if I could. I went to two places prior to coming here near my office and had a diagnostic test ran on my car, both had the same diagnosis. I chose this place because it is close to my apartment and I could leave the car and take a cab or path train home. I told Julio the issue, he said he had to run the diagnostic test also, which I was find with since he was doing the work... quoted at less than $200 from the other places. After leaving for two hours he called me acting frazzled claiming that my car had no oil, and was having MAJOR issues... THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS of issues. I explained that I knew about cars and there was no way this was possible, as there were no oil spills in my parking spot or at work. After going there he lifted my car to show me oil all over the bottom. It literally looked like he took a paintbrush to make it appear as if there was oil spewing all over my undercarriage. I asked him to put oil in, lift in and run the car to show me the leak. It must have been a miracle because no oil spilled once he filled it and he claimed to have no idea all of the sudden how the oil leaked. After I told him I saw them on ABC ripping people off he quickly put oil back in my car, took it off the lift and returned it at NO CHARGE. They should be ashamed of themselves trying to take advantage of people. It is a shame that they take advantage of people who do not know any better. read more

I am welcoming all you folks who are doing due diligence. READ all the reviews. I see that I am not the only person who had the experience I am reporting below. Be very clear on the service you are requesting! I needed brake work and was told only back brakes needed work. I decided to wait. I went back several weeks later and got a quote for both front and back brakes. I got a price quote for both front and back brakes. I told Julio over the phone that I decided to fix the back brakes only. when I went to get my car, I was told he did both front and back. Cost me quite a bit more than I had planned on spending and I feel a bit taken. It's quite possible this was a "misunderstanding" but I surely am not happy. (The front brake pads had more life on them and my intention was to fix them at a later date). Upshot is I feel a bit betrayed in the process. read more

I came here to finally give an overdue review. However, reading previous posts I realize I should reassess my thoughts as it seems what I thought was a one-off mistake may not have been. Julio performed work on my car before I approved it. My car had overheated and I had it towed in to his shop on a Friday. They didn't call me over the weekend (saying that they had a wrong number, they keyed it incorrectly) and come Monday morning when I called them to ask what was the status, they said they did the work already since they couldn't reach me. His reasoning was that on Friday when I brought the care he made guesses as to the problem and possible solution might be so I "knew" it was going to be those issues (though he never quoted a price). Naturally I was very upset that I now had a $900 bill but after some negotiation and asking him to remove the new brakes (that I never approved) from the car, the bill came down to a more manageable price. I thought it was an honest misunderstanding but now that I see they have done this more than once I am thinking I was probably just hoodwinked. Julio seemed so nice and sincere in his attempts to remedy the situation but now I'm left feeling very unsure. To be on the safe side I probably won't return now. read more

I did see the ABC episode of The Lookout, not good, but before that I did have a great experience. Mikey and the mechanics are friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to repair what 2 other garages could NOT repair. They diagnosed quickly and repaired on time and within budget. My car is humming perfectly. Since the new management, reviews and service have been very good (maybe it's Mikey ; ) Unheard of ... I got a follow up call to see how my car was running and some even lessons regarding the quirks of my 98 Nissan. The starter in this model has a questionable contact from the ignition, but if I push my key up before turning ... it starts every time! Also I needed my antennae and stereo repaired and he gave me some good tips and advice. read more

Pay Attention to the numerous 1 star on this shop! I almost got screwed! Brought my car has the ABS CVT and Anti Skid lights on around 930am - didn't get a call till 3pm telling me the cost to fix is $1200 plus diagnostic fee of $75. They claimed it's the YAW sensor and it needs to be replaced and taken to the dealer for calibration an it will involve a lot of work to remove the whole headboard etc. Decided to take it to the dealer instead at least get a certified mechanic to do a very complicated job. The dealer end up rebooting onboard computer and reset the system, plus oil change total coast $340. I paid this shop $75 for a bogus diagnostic... What a ripoff! read more

Need a shop to install aftermarket parts for me, when i went they took care of me with the parts I brought by, it's hard for me to trust a new shop or mechanics but I actually stayed there to watch them work most the progress which I like because It is a brand new infiniti car...I came to get my downpipes and y pipe installed, was charged 300$ as agreed which is a little more than what I wanted to spend knowing that it doesn't take much time to replace a y-pipe when you need to disassemble the y-pipe already on the car to take off the lower catalytic converters to change to down pipes. All said and done they did a spot on job, very professional. now with that said I read all previous reviews before I posted mine, this was based on my experience with them...will I go do future business with them? For sure, i has a great experience, but I'll make sure to always be there to watch them work on my car as I have my first visit...it's just my nature to watch what's being done to my car read more

They really take time to make sure the work quality is top notch, although this does mean I have to send the car there twice. They also did the oil change and regular maintenance for me, saving me another trip. Last but not the least, they hand washed my car at the end despite the injured hand from the owner. I'd give no stars if that were possible. They are scam artists who gained my trust with normal wear and tear and oil changes by doing little 'nice' things, like even getting my car washed before picking it up. But, the moment I dropped my gaurd and started trusting what they recommended they took complete advantage of me! I'm talking splicing wires in my engine and forcing wrong parts into it which started causing endless problems. There was a period of time I had to come back every week for a month until I finally thought something was up, so I took it over to the dealer who pointed out and showed me all the damage they caused. It has been a nightmare costing me over $10,000 to fix. So basically they totaled my car to keep business that quite frankly they could've kept as an honest mechanic. It seems the former employee must be right, and I feel like a moron for not listening to his review OR the news report on them. The positive reviews must be from people before they 'get ya'! I took my car to Julio Clavijo in mid December 2013 requesting a price only to fix a leak in my inner axel and for transmission service. I made it clear that I was looking for a price only- not to have any work done. Upon picking up my car, I was informed I owed $80 for a diagnostic test. I felt obligated to pay as my car was still elevated off the ground on a jack. Apparently along the way, Julio asked me if I also wanted a diagnostic test performed. I possibly said yes, but do not remember. I overall felt that I got taken for a ride (no pun intended). I suggest going elsewhere to have you work done. read more

I brought my almost new Toyota Corolla in to ABLE AUTOI WORKS with a very badly damaged car from a side swap. I wasn't sure if my panels had to be replaced, but Julio told me he thought he could repair it without replacing. Sure enough, a few days later, as promised (his guys worked overtime on a Friday afternoon in the summer to make sure au had my car back on time) my black car looked absolutely brand new with no trace of any damage whatsoever. I've showed up here twice with a sudden emergency and these guys have taken amazing care of me. The first time, I had a flat coming out of the holland tunnel after a road trip. It was at the end of a super hot day, and my dog was with me...my dog threw up in their office twice and Julio jumped up to clean if and bring him water. My dog had more issues after that he was SO understanding and helpful. He arranged a ride home for me and helped me move all my things (and there were a lot!) from one car to another even though he needed to leave to pick up his family at the airport. He is an incredibly thoughtful business owner. He proceeded to do a great job on replacing our tire and re-alignment. It took them them less than 24 hrs to order a part and get the job done. If you are concerned with a diagnosis, he will show you exactly what's happening on your car and allow you to make your own decisions, so I really can't imagine he could rip anyone off. The second time, was today. I showed up needing coolant and an oil change without an appointment. He was able to accommodate us right away and he got rid of a pestering squeak too at no charge. He is well versed in performance vehicles..so if your car needs special treatment, you need to bring it here. It's taken us a long time to find a good shop. WOW! I would think we were in heaven if every business was like this one. They treat your car like it was their own. They won't give an estimate over the phone without seeing the car but showed me what needed to be fixed. They did the job fast, helped with the insurance and even washed the car so it looked like new. For those with more interest in the full story. Read below. I was driving from West Virginia to Connecticut and coming over the mountains I noticed a grinding noise when I braked by the time I was in Maryland. In New Jersey I stopped for gas and asked the attendant if he could look at the tire. He said that I need new brakes right away. Well I was on a schedule so I managed to drive to Northern Jersey by down shifting and using the parking brake to stay overnight with will a friend. Shh, don't tell my dad. It was seven at night and nothing was going to happen until the next day. Next day, I went to yelp a place that was opened and near the PATH train. I had appointments in the city. This place was opened at 7 am and seemed to have mostly good reviews. I limped the 1.3 miles at 10 miles an hour. I dropped it off and continued on with my day. It turned out the caliper was locked in the engaged position and I had burned through the brake pads. It was metal on metal. No wonder the brakes didn't stop the car. So new calipers and brakes were due which were going to be almost $1000. They found used parts and explained to the extended warranty/ insurance people the brakes wouldn't have burned out if the caliper didn't lock up. They ended up covering that part so yeah! Who knew that I would be grateful to instead happily pay $400. And they completely cleaned the car inside and outside. AND on top of that they have a one year warranty for the work. I am so tempted to wait for my next oil change and drive 381 miles to come back. Julio, the owner, is an old world gentleman. I could see my younger self being taken a back but he didn't talk down to me and when you are an out of towner on a tight schedule with luggage in tow, I will gladly let him open the door and get me back on the road. The last 62 miles, I saw my mpg jump from 39 to 42 so I was driving with the brake engaged. read more

Able Auto Works - it is not just a business - it is a car shop sanctuary with a heart and a soul. The owner and his crew exhibit great business manners and professionalism, which is tailored carefully with details for the customer. My vehicle had destroyed front fender and the bumper - both were pulled out brutally by the icy frozen snow that was hiding under the car which also damaged the electrical wiring after the most recent snow storm. It was a mess. The owner - after detailed inspection of my car - told me about the damages and explained how much work it will require and of course about the price attached to the car repair. The quote that i received initially was entirely above my budget but the owner after seeing my troubled face lowered the price of the repair. The next day I went to pick up my repaired car and the owner told me how much extra work his crew had to do in order to bring my car to the state of safe operation. He told me that normally this would be an extra charge but knowing my poor financial situation he stood by the quote that we agreed the day before. I was amazed and grateful for the owner's integrity and commitment. Such business owners are a true rarity. Not only he exhibited compassion towards my problem but above all honesty and diligence in the repair process. I give this business 5 stars (I would give more if I could) and recommend it to everyone who needs help with their vehicle. Fast, attentive and detail-oriented service! After a valet service scratched and dented my Toyota Highlander SUV, I needed as auto body shop to straighten out the dent and repaint parts of the chassis and both bumpers. Able Autoworks got the job done within two days, exactly as promised. The car looked like new! They even went to the extra trouble to get the entire car washed and cleaned, both inside and out. Throughout, the owner (Julio?) was thorough at communicating his recommendations about how the repair the dent (pull it out rather than just epoxy over it), what paint he was going to use (metallic silver: tricky to blend with the OEM paint) and what else the car might benefit from.
