We'd just had the car worked on a month earlier and then hadn't driven it for a month when it was snowy. We panicked and found the only spot that would take us on such short notice. These guys really saved the day, working as fast as they could to get us back on the road and keeping us in the loop the whole time. They even showed us exactly where the previous shop had messed up, taking photos for us. It wasn't cheap, but it was well worth it and we were able to travel a few hours later with no car problems on the whole trip. These guys are honest and hardworking and helped us out in a pinch. After waiting for a couple of hours, the manager, Chris, said he couldn't do the transmission change because he didn't have the right tools. Why didn't he say that in the first place? When I went to confront him he knew what's coming and picked up his phone and started texting. I asked him if he's the manager and he said yes but kept playing with the phone. I could tell from his face he's trying to come up with an excuse so I let him figure it out and waited patiently. After (literally) 5 minutes, he spoke to me and said he didn't know what type of transmission it had. I asked him if he couldn't simply look it up online and he said it's not as easy as that. When I asked him once he found he couldn't do the transmission why he proceeded with other jobs, he didn't have the answer. It would have been much simpler for me to take the car to a place where they do everything rather than going to different places. The business practice and the customer service in this place leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn't go back to this place again. These guys give honest mechanics a bad name.

This is after calling and visiting 3 other places that were supposedly open according to google, but actually decided to stay shut - likely because it had snowed fairly heavily. Anyway, I was lucky enough to get Elton on the phone who told me to come on in for my oil change and I got there 6 minutes later. First, he cleaned the snow off my car. Offered me a seat in the waiting room in the back of the shop. After fiddling on my phone for a bit, I decided to go and check on the status and just as I stood up off the chair Elton was walking in to let me know it was done. 15 minutes, maybe, for the oil change. Synthetic for a 2024 car - was $90. Reasonable. Not do it yourself cheap, but not outrageous either. Honestly, no appointment, weekend, bad weather, arrive and receive service immediately, friendly. I'm literally writing this immediately after leaving because they deserve the praise. Also, there was a beautiful.. I mean absolutely beautiful Chevrolet inside the garage, I'd guess from the 80's, but it could have been late 70. Heck, it could even have been early 90's, I have no idea. All I know is 20 years ago I'd call it a piece of junk but today I couldn't take my eyes off it. Funny how that happens. Anyway, I digress a second time. Hylan Auto Repair, Elton, thank you for taking care of this chore that I've had on my todo list for 2 months longer than it should have been on there. While All Tire's services are slightly more expensive, I know I'm getting the value for my money and I feel safe when I drive off the lot.
