Today Smoke Signals lost a long time customer. I've been coming here since they had the other…read morelocation, how ever many years ago this was. I've always believed in supporting local businesses, and was proud to call SS home. This ended tonight. A couple weeks ago I purchased a replacement atomizer for my Cloud Pen. The manufacturer was running a sale at half price, but I again believe in keeping my business local. I paid the $10 for the atomizer, and even did some card magic for the employee's here. I went home and popped in the new atomizer, only to find it didn't work. No big deal, I said to myself. I'll just head down there when I can and get a replacement. Well, tonight was the night and I went in there fully expecting them to replace the broken atomizer they sold me. The very condescending worker told me they don't give refunds. I said I didn't want a refund, I just wanted a replacement. He said, "yeah, this is normal with a lot of the vape stuff" and then pointed to the sign stating "all sales are final". I couldn't believe my ears. I literally said to him, "ok, so you guys sold me something that doesn't work, and I'm here pleasantly asking for one that does work, and you're telling me you aren't going to replace this? You realize that after I leave here you guys are losing a weekly customer, right? For good, I'll loterally never step foot in the building again?" He says, "yeah I totally understand man, sorry about that. I can sell you another one if you want (all smiles. As if he enjoyed this). And then I turn around and exit this shop for the last time. I understand why there's a need to make all sales final, given the nature of the product, but in this case I'm showing a completely unused $10 atomizer, that I can literally show not working. In addition, it's not like I'm a random customer who hasn't spent thousands in that store. I helped the owner of this business, Sue, and her brother with snowboarding equipment many years ago. If she had come back with an unused binding that she couldn't use because it was broken, what do you think I would've done? She would've left with working equipment. Guys, take your business elsewhere. It should be illegal to sell broken merchandise. There are other shops opening up nearly every month. We spent a good 15 minutes chatting about flavors and she suggested some out of stock stuff which she would order for me. I will be honest my first stop in they convinced me to try Candy King Sour Straws which I absolutely hate, but then again I didn't tell the guys what I was really in the mood for, was in a hurry because I was out of juice and didn't take my time. I am trending away from the commonly seen brands, trying smaller providers and have been happy since that first misstep. The staff provided good service at the time, but when a product fails on day one, that's a serious issue. Instead of resolving the problem, the store accused me of not being a real customer and implied I had some kind of agenda. I wasn't told to test the vape since it's a 510 thread and didn't require it. I even uploaded proof of the faulty product. I'm a regular shopper in the area with hundreds of verified reviews on Google, yet they dismissed my complaint and called me a scammer. This store doesn't take responsibility for its products and resorts to baseless accusations when faced with criticism. I can't support a business with such poor customer service and accountability. Especially when I've visited both locations, purchased items from one, and been ignored at the other. The owner would clearly rather spend their time arguing with real customers than keeping them. I asked if I could smoke downstairs and when we went to "The Lounge" part I was told by bartender that it was for members only (empty as well) , not what I remembered from the last time I went a number of years ago... He didn't even have a V cutter. We were relegated to a dark cocktail table with cold plastic uncomfortable seats and my general impression was that we were not welcomed.

I proceeded to an area with leather chairs and large TV; there was one unfriendly individual in there and a cowboy movie was on the screen; I really didn't come in to watch a movie; a general sports program would have been more entertaining. They have a very good selection of all kinds of vitamins, herbal/nutritional supplements and natural/holistic remedies, including a lot of vegetarian/vegan formulas. Also, a nice selection of natural soaps, deodorants and bath/hygiene products. They also signed me up for their rewards club and I received a coupon for next time. The gentleman who checked me out (possibly owner?) was nice and let me know about a $3 off manufacturer coupon that was taken off my purchase. Very nice store and will definitely be my go-to in Portsmouth for all things natural!
