The vegetarian platter (shiro is in the dish behind).

I sampled all of the vegetarian dishes and liked them all. Nothing is extremely hot, though the "shiro" is worth getting if you want a little more heat. I love the ability to sample all of the dishes for extremely cheap. The vegetarian platter + shiro fed 3 of us for dinner. The injera is good, but not the best I've had. The atmosphere is okay - clean, bright colours, and thematic paintings on the walls. The proprietor is extremely nice.

    Vegetarian Platter for 2.

I love Ethiopian Food and I was a loyal eater at M & B Yummy in Toronto until it closed down. We since relocated to South Western Ontario, and I have been longing for Ethiopian food ever since. Taite has been trying to convince me on trying East Africa Cafe in Kitchener for some time so this weekend I took the plunge! I regret nothing, well... Except not trying the food sooner! The Vegetarian Combo was delicious! The Tusker Beers (Kenyan Import) were flowing, and were ice cold. The injera was fresh, plentiful and delicious! The man who served us was courteous, smiling, and he brought our food out very quickly. I would have given East Africa Cafe a 5/5 but I felt the two person vegetarian platter was small. We ordered a second Vegetarian Platter so we could both leave full (small portioning is a really rare thing at an Ethiopian restaurant) our bill was $55.00. I think that would be considered quite pricy for a lunch for two, especially at Ethiopian in downtown Kitchener but it was very fresh, and we each had a beer. 4/5 for fabulous food I do not have to go to Toronto for.

A quick browse in Google brought up New Delhi amongst the top searches and so I and a colleague decided to try the place. Ambience and welcome (5/5) The very first aspect that impresses when you enter the place is the ambience; its warm and relaxing and more importantly ever smiling pleasant demeanor of Mr.Gaurav (Who runs the place) makes you like the place instantly even before you have tasted the food :-) Friendliness of staff and customer service (5/5) The staff take the effort to ask about our spice tolerance which was important as I had a colleague who was not Indian but was curious about Indian food and I wanted to make sure the experience was worth it. To mention, I had ordered a take-away and one item in my order was left behind; I called up the place and Mr.Gaurav personally delivered the item to my hotel. That is a fine example of customer service I have experienced. Dishes ordered: Papdi chaat (5/5) The 1st item we had was the papdi chaat and it was amazing. The right mix of chutneys and flavors made it a delectable eat. Take a look at the picture. Droolworthy, aint it? Veg biryani (4/5) We ordered Veg biryani and from a taste point of view, it was very good. However, the biryani rice was a bit sticky and not separate as how basmati rice usually is; but that had no impact on the gastronomic experience :-) , we polished off the dish in no time Dahi bhalla (5/5) Now, I have had chaat at Lucknow, Amritsar, and Delhi itself, and I can say with authority that the dahi bhalla holds up well to its competition :-) Veg thali (5/5) Value for money I went again couple of days later for lunch and ordered their veg thali which comprises of a big naan, basmati rice, 2 veg dishes, kheer, raita, and some lettuce salad. This is a value for money deal. The portion is just perfect for a single person. Fun fact: They also stock Indian softdrinks such as Limca, Thums up :-) As desi as it can get. New Delhi also makes fresh Indian sweets and having tasted their Gulab Jamun, Rasmalai, and Kheer, I would highly recommend them as the go to place for Indian sweets during festivals. Price wise, I feel its reasonable. Not too expensive. Rightly priced. The one thing every desi misses is ghar ka khana. New Delhi was my go to place. Kudos to Mr.Gaurav for running such an amazing place. I hope to visit Canada again and will definitely visit New Delhi :-) To conclude: The place definitely lives up to its name... I got their Happy Hour Special which consisted of a Large Strawberry Banana Smoothie for $5.99 (the happy hour runs from 2pm-5pm). The smoothie is made with fresh strawberry, banana and yogurt. The quantity was reasonable for the price. However I felt that there wasn't much strawberry in the smoothie compared to banana. Overall a good visit.

This Freshii is in a small plaza with a limited number of parking spots. Folks need to look back before pulling out of a spot! As I was backing into one, a woman tried backing out, which could have hit my car! Luckily, nothing happened. There are a number of eateries here that cater to the university crowd. I walked in and had to wait before placing my order. There were three staff members working hard. I ordered a Zen bowl with tofu. It's essentially brown rice and a bunch of veggies in a green coconut curry sauce, sprinked with coconut flakes. I loved this bowl. It was light and flavourful. There was a lot of it. I actually saved half of it for dinner the following day. I'd come back here again, as it's fairly close to my hotel. Just take care when pulling in and out of the parking lot (246)
