THIS REVIEW IS NOT FOR THE COMPANY LOCATED AT 208 S. GUADALUPE ST. IN SAN MARCOS TX. THIS REVIEW FOR EARTHLINK!!! IF I could rate Earthlink less than one star, I would. In August 2025, I called Earthlink to inquire about switching to their home Internet service. I was promised that my monthly bill would be about $56 per month, (which would save $30 per month from the current home Internet provider.) We agreed upon the installation date to be in mid September. On the installation date, a technician showed up wearing the uniform of AT &T with one of their trucks. (The installer was very professional the entire time that he was at my house. ) It worked great for about two weeks and then it went out. I wasn't very concerned about that because I was going out of town in a few days. When I returned, I called AT &T because they did the installation and was still providing my home Internet services.( EARTHLINK NEVER PROVIDED ANY INTERNET SERVICES TO MY HOME AT ANY TIME!!!!!) In October , I went out of town again. When returned from this trip, I found a bill in my mailbox from Earthlink requesting that I pay 4x the amount that I was promised for the monthly bill. After making MULTIPLE phone calls (about 10 calls to their customer service number) to Earthlink to find out why, I was informed that they cancelled my services in the early part of October when I was out of town. I reiterate that at NO TIME WAS ANY SERVICE PROVIDED BY EARTHLINK!!!!! Each employee that I spoke to said the same thing,that I would be responsible to pay the bill that 4x more than the promised amount and that were no managers or supervisors available to look into the situation. I called back SEVERAL times in the first week of November 2025 and FINALLY got a chance to talk to someone. I offered to pay the amount that was agreed upon for the monthly bill, even though they DID NOT PROVIDE services at my house at any time. They wouldn't accept that.So I the bill that was 4x higher than promised just to get them out of my life forever. They did me VERY WRONG!!!!! Earthlink charged an installation fee even though I signed a 1 year contract but the rep said I would receive $100 gift card after 3 months of payments. It's been over 6 months and it never came. I have called the gift card contractor who had no record of a request from Earthlink. She said she would send an email to Earthlink but wouldn't expect a reply, so I called Earthlink. The rep said she would "elevated" the request and I should eventually receive an email to request the gift card. A decent business would have just sent it after 3 months like they promised without requiring calling in and waiting on hold and then having to wait on an email (which I am doubtful I will actually receive) with a special request to fill out. Then I asked the rep why my bill charges me for fiber internet and rent of a fiber modem (which was required - Earthlink wouldn't let me just buy modem) when my service is DSL, not fiber. The rep insisted that I have fiber internet when I have DSL. She's elevating that one too. read more

This company shouldn't be in business. They will lie to you about your rate to make you a customer. Then when you call them out on the wrong price and that you wish to cancel they'll try to tell you there's a $200 cancelation fee...for them not honoring their end of the agreement. I want to communicate that EarthLink is undoubtedly the worst company I've had the displeasure of having to do business with. They are merely a middle man to the actual service provider which is AT&T. The service i have received has always been terrible, very poor, no follow-up, no one can ever resolve or help you. You get passed around to various people and waste alot of time with nothing getting accomplished. Then you received unrealistic time frames or always a 1 week or 2 weeks to get something addressed or looked into. Now I got so tired of lies and terrible service that I decided to go straight to the provider AT&T, because after all EarthLink is the middle man. After account was paid in full and they changed it direct from my account. After trying to get service started with AT&T direct. I come to find out it will take 10 days for EarthLink to release my phone line in order to allow AT&T to provide me service. This was never communicated to me by EarthLink until today. Again I reiterate this is the worst internet company I've ever had the displeasure of having to trying and do business with. Please pass this, post, communicate in whatever form needed to let everyone know of this company and how terrible it is for AT&T to associated with this awful and terrible company. sat on hold for 45 min to cancel my service because it does not work. I have literally have no internet service. I have had to turn the WiFi off on my phone and use it as a hot spot for my computer and printer. I was quoted a rate of $45/ mo and was getting billed over $70. No one was willing to cancel my service and when they finally agreed to they said I owe a $200 cancellation fee, even though there was no contract. They tried to tell me there was a verbal agreement, but didn't have a recording of this. Worst company ever. read more

The hours of operation for installation are ridiculous. If you work a 9-5, they only install 9-3. The window is from, you fucking guessed it, 9-3. Good luck locking down a time to get something so simple done without having to take off work for a whole day. read more

We moved into a house where our landlord had service from EarthStink. We called to set up AT&T for cable and internet. It was at this point that we were informed that since there was an open account on this address, we couldn't initiate a new account. We called our landlord and she informed us that she a)wasn't using her service & b) she wasn't willing to cancel because of cancelation fees. SO, she decided that we could use her modem and pay the extra in the rent. Holy cow, the worst internet speed and reliability I have ever seen. We couldn't even get 1mbs down. When we called to find out why we were getting such horrible speed. They tell us she was only paying for the base that was like 6mbs. So we first asked them to get our speeds up to what we were paying for. This is about the time they decided they didn't want to speak with us because we weren't on the account. Our landlord called to add us but they would never update the account. Every time we called it was the same run around. They are rude, unprofessional and they are really just farming out AT&T's services. It took WEEKS to get our speeds to what they are supposed to be. Not only that but our service drops all the time. I am convinced Earth Stink is the worst isp of all times and that says a lot since we all know Comcast, Verizon, AT&T and the other members of Satan's cult. read more

The worst. Earthlink is an ISP operated by Time Warner Cable, and in my experience, is basically a scam. Although, I cannot even review the actual service. I never got there... I ordered residential service on a Saturday with a scheduled appointment of installation the following Tuesday. They never showed and never called. I called and attempted to log in but my order and login had been cancelled with no explanation. I called to redo the order and rescheduled for that following Friday for another installation. Again, they never showed and never called that day (which happens to be today). After being transferred to corporate/business service department, I was informed that my apartment complex is a business address and only eligible for business internet packages, which begin at twice the price and meant for bulk access points. No deal. Later, I was transferred to the Time Warner department, when I was informed that my address is, in fact, a residential address and could provide such services. For better or worse, Time Warner has agreed to install 8 days from now (they gave me next Tuesday, which I'm not available for, or the following Saturday from 5pm-6pm) with residential services. I will continue this review to Time Warner, pending installation. Provided they show. Cancelling with Earthlink was no walk in the park. After 20 minutes on the phone with them, at least 5 minutes on hold and the rest a sales pitch to reschedule the appointment, they finally cancelled the service. It seems as if they wanted to drag this on for a month and into the first billing cycle, so they could charge money for zero services provided and wasting my time. I wish this was a review about how well the service is but I have been waiting for a month to get my service on and still waiting. I've lost track of how many agents and chat lines I've talked to, it's in dbl digits. No one has been able to give me an answer, just a bunch of running around. Stay clear of EarthLink. read more
