I adoreeee Earth Bean! It's a nice, quiet, and quaint escape from the hustle and bustle of the fashion district. I've had a couple of their beverages such as the golden milk, activated chai and matcha drink - all killer however I do reco customizing your drink to your liking as well! Earth bean offers a variety of milk substitutes and syrups to truly make your drink your own. An iced lavender latte or peppermint mocha cappuccino are seasonal faves. The only downside is that parking can be difficult in the fashion district so if you're not lucky enough to find a meter, you're looking at $10-15 at a parking structure. if you're into buying local coffee, you can buy ground/whole bean coffee here as well.

Cute small unique coffee shop. Crème brûle latte was real tasty, matcha was ok. Love the outdoor seating and the service was super friendly!

I haven't been here in a while since I'm from San Diego and COVID hit. Came here today because I was running errands in LA. I got the iced Carmel latte. Omg it was soooo good! Most of their ingredients are house made and you can taste the quality. I swear I wish they opened one in SD in my hood so I can enjoy the goodness more often.

Gotta love the Superfood Coffee! This one has cacao butter, gelatinized maca, & red reishi to relieve stress and boost immunity. The taste is amazing with so many different flavor profiles that balance each other out. If you're into the grass fed butter coffees then this is the coffee for you. I prefer this one to grass fed butter coffees at other places because it is not as heavy as others make it to be. They use less butter and more superfood ingredients to create this drink. It's amazing! Excited to try other things on the menu. The cafe is in the middle of fashion district. It's not too difficult looking for street parking on the weekends!

One word: EXQUISITE. The creme brûlée latte is mouth watering. The barista's attention to detail is immaculate. Hipster cafe right in the heart of downtown LA. Perfect for this gloomy weather. A win for the books, for sure. highly recommend this place.

I think their concept is amazing for the location to reduce carbon foot print. I just wish they had more food options here.

I got the mushroom drink with oat... wow... amazing!!! Such a cute shop in a random area. Very clean, and the owner doesn't hover, and lets you ask any questions. I will definitely be back!

Although I don't live in LA, when I am there I ALWAYS make time to go to Earth Bean Coffee. There're a million coffee shops everywhere but this one is special. The design of the store is open and airy, and not cluttered with knick-knacks like many of the other shops. I've been a patron for a few years now, and even order their coffee online because I love it that much. Got some of my family members out-of-state hooked, too (hey...free shipping)! Pros: * Good prices (especially for über-trendy DTLA) * Vegan-friendly food that actually FILLS YOU UP * Delicious and unique hand-crafted coffee drinks (some have gold leaf on top) * Nicest staff ever! They are never rude and don't try to rush you * Website ordering available for us out-of-towners * Coffee is organic/fair trade * One tree is planted for every bag of coffee purchased * Totally Instagram-worthy (if you're into that) * Trendy décor yet also minimalist and industrial * Super cool mural by famed local artist "WRDSMTH" Cons: * I don't get to go there often because I live a few hours away * I end up going crazy shopping for things probably don't need in the other shops nearby (in the fashion district area) after I leave Earth Bean because the coffee and snacks get me on a good one (if that is a con). Last time I was there I popped in early May 2020 while on a road trip. I had a cold brew coffee with house-made oat milk. I asked the Barista to make it a little bit sweet and it was PERFECT! It was not too strong or bitter, it had just a touch of sweetness as I requested and was the perfect temperature to keep me cool on an 88-degree day. I paired it with "Avo Smash" which is their version of avocado toast served on a rustic European style bread. The avocado was extremely generous and was complemented nicely by the sweetness of the cherry tomato and crunch of the pine nuts. I tasted the slightest amount of salt which just set all the flavors off. I continued the rest of my drive not feeling too full but never hungry. Nice coffee buzz, too. Earth Bean is just minutes off the I-5 freeway. That day, I took a gamble they would be open because you never really know with the current situation (COVID crisis). As it happens, luck was in my favor! Not only were they open, but the friendly barista was also wearing masks and gloves. I appreciate that the business is following health protocols, and it shows they're running a clean and safe storefront. I didn't stick around long but did see some others picking up "to-go" orders which is a good sign. After I got my subsistence for the rest of the ride, and since I was in the Fashion District, I decided to buy some trendy masks from an outdoor vendor down the street as gifts for friends/family (confessions of a shopaholic). They all loved them! That wouldn't have happened if I didn't have the good sense to make a pit stop for a personal refuel at Earth Bean Coffee.

    Creme Brûlée Latte: $6.00

For what must be a year now Tilt Coffee Cafe's Cloud Latte (recently knocked off by Starbucks) has been my favorite coffee beverage in DTLA and the surrounding area. That might still be the case, but it's a close one as Earth Bean Coffee's Creme Brulee Latte has made a strong showing for that same title. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? I'll admit that Earth Bean Coffee's location is a bit unorthodox. The intersection of South Los Angeles and 11th in the Fashion District isn't exactly my go-to neighborhood for a quaint coffee shop compared to say the Arts District or the Northwest suburbs, but with other hot spots like Cilantro Lime nearby Earth Bean Coffee has just as much a right as anyone to try and continue to improve this part of town. Once you're inside the service and atmosphere are fantastic. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $6.00 got me a good sized Creme Brulee Latte, and as you'll see that was essentially a bargain given the quality of this drink. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I've had all shapes and sizes of new age coffee drinks, but a Creme Brulee latte was an entirely new concept for me, and Earth Bean executed it brilliantly. From the caramelized sugar top that could be mixed into the latte to the flavor of the coffee itself, this was more or less a perfect coffee drink in my mind. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Absolutely. Star.

Finally a great coffee shop in my area. Wonderful coffee and amazing specialty drinks. My brother is obsessed with the turmeric latte. They make their own oat, almond and coconut milk. The avocado toast I so good. Today I tired the camomile lavender ice tea. Yum!

It was really interesting that one of the Americanos was made with Ecuador Los 4 Mundos beans, and the other was made with Colombia El Diviso. When a staff member brought over my hot Vanilla Latte, I asked to make sure it was decaf. He took it back just to double-check for me, and then confirmed that it was indeed decaf. The coffee here is all delicious, and the staff are incredibly friendly, which I really liked. However, the chairs were quite uncomfortable to sit in, and the Vanilla Latte was still pretty sweet even though I ordered it "less sweet." Still, the coffee tastes so good and the staff are so incredibly kind, so it's a really great coffee shop. P.S. A funny thing: They had dog treats in a jar. I immediately thought of my boss's absolutely super, incredibly cute dogs, so I asked for an empty cup and packed some treats to bring to the office for them today. But when I finished my coffee and was heading out, I totally forgot and accidentally threw the cup of treats away along with the empty coffee cups. OMG. (But seriously, all dogs and cats always absolutely love me. Hahaha. When I get to work, my boss's dogs come over wagging their tails and greeting me so excitedly--they are just so, so adorable. And as for cats, there's a stray that I've been feeding every single morning on my way to work for over 4-5 years now. She currently lives at the Buddhist temple I attend. Every day when I go, she follows me around everywhere. She absolutely loves it when I scratch her back with a brush, and when I'm done and try to leave, she taps my foot to tell me to scratch more! It's just so totally cute and lovable. It's a completely white cat, and so incredibly pretty.)

The main thing that stands out here is their 1987 coffee roaster which is the center piece of the cafe. They roast various single origin beans on a daily basis, so you know you can purchase some fresh coffee beans here. If you need your beans grounded, they do grind it for you depending on your brewing method. They have beans of light roast, medium roast and dark roast and sell by various weights for a very reasonable price. They also sell various tea leaves, baked goods (croissant, muffin, scones, bagel, Danish, coffee cake, Dessert Therapy cookies, and merchs. They also have a seasonable menu that changes. When I went, it was the Sakura season menu. Staff were all friendly and were very willing to answer any questions regarding the menu. Please note, the base coffee blend for each day varies and rotates on a daily basis For my visit, I tried ... 1. Buttered Coffee (4.5/5) The base coffee for the day was the Peru single origin, which was well-balanced; slightly sweet with a hint of tartness and nuttiness. They then add a chunk of butter into the coffee, which helps cut some of the acidity, but also is supposed to enhance the caffeine effect and give you additional energy from the fat. It does leave a layer of fat/oiliness so if you are not a fan of that, then this may not be for you. The butter did give it a subtle buttery flavor, which I personally liked. 2. Matcha with Sakura Cold Foam (4/5) The matcha was blended smoothly and was not grassy at all. The Sakura cold foam didn't really taste like Sakura (been to Japan, so know what real Sakura flavor should taste like), but instead, just tasted floral. 3. Columbia Supremo Whole Beans Full body and aromatic. Good for those who like to drink black coffee 4. Guatemala Huehuetenango Whole Beans: Crisp, acidic and a hint of nuttiness Glad I found this local roaster where I'll definitely be coming back to get some more fresh beans.
