First, Kim did an excellent job of mentally preparing my husband and me for labor. She did so by getting to know us and educating us about birth preferences during a couple prenatal sessions. When labor began, Kim helped me navigate the hospital and some unexpected developments. She advised me based on her years of experience while being respectful and letting me make all the decisions. She also guided me through the physical challenges with gentle, thoughtful care. Finally, Kim followed up postpartum to debrief the labor experience and help me with some early issues. I'm so grateful for her steady support throughout the process!

Her calm confidence and assurance, and knowing that she has experienced this before was most helpful to us. Just meeting with us was helpful to ease my worries and make me feel more calm and comfortable about the whole process. The prenatal meetings were very helpful to ease my nerves and calm me about the upcoming birth. I especially remembered the description of the expectant mother going to her safe cave for protection from predators, and how it prevents the labor from being slowed by adrenaline. This helped me more accept my wife's desires to have no family in the labor and delivery room.

She always puts me back together to make me stronger than I was when I started. Haley is amazingly knowledgeable about anatomy and how the body works. She is patient and kind and funny, and she always brings me back to a positive place of love for this body that carries me through life. From our very first Zoom consult, we just clicked -- her approach matched exactly what we were looking for, and she didn't push her own agenda. During our time together, Melissa was always super reliable and communicative. She showed up on time, gave us updates about how the night went via a shared doc, and provided the option of backup doula support for the few instances she was unavailable. She did baby laundry, washed bottles and pump parts, and unloaded our dishwasher so we were set up well for the following day. But what we loved most about Melissa was her steady, reassuring presence. From the get-go, she made it clear that she would center her care around our unique family needs and wishes. We had many practical, down-to-earth conversations about feeding and sleeping routines, always taking both evidence-based information AND our mental health into consideration. And with a healthy dose of humor, we were able to zoom out instead of sweating all the small stuff. It's this thoughtful and holistic approach that really made us feel supported and seen. Thanks to Melissa's support, we can confidently reflect on this postpartum time as one of joy and ease. We feel incredibly lucky to have found her. Her demeanor instantly puts you at ease. She is professional, reassuring, confident and keeps a sense of humor. I think I laughed about something every visit. My birth was VERY fast, and Ellie was totally calm and collected, reassuring my husband (who was super freaked out this time). With Ellie, I truly felt like my health and well-being were being cared for before, during, and after my birth. Compare that to the first time around, where I felt like it was only about the health of the baby (which is certainly super important, but us mamas go through a lot getting those little things to the other side!). I joke with my husband that I want to have another baby just to have Ellie as my midwife again! Our 2 year old even named her babydoll after her.

I had no idea how much I would appreciate finding such a supportive community of mothers to learn and grow with. Jennifer is compassionate and kind, supportive and non-judgmental, and makes sure everyone feels welcome and accepted. I think of her as the mother of mothers. She's a wealth of knowledge and can be so, so helpful if you have any child-rearing questions. Joining a support group wasn't just good for me as a mom, but has also been wonderful for my daughter who has been growing up in a loving community of mothers, fathers, and babies who all look out for each other and help each other through struggles. I can't say what the future holds, but I believe we have found a circle of friends for life. I would also like to add since I read another reviewer who said she felt alienated for not breastfeeding, that this is FAR from my experience and very hard for me to believe. Jennifer has actively supported many mothers who couldn't breastfeed for different reasons or who struggled with breastfeeding. She supported me when I went through struggles with low-milk supply and was the first person to suggest and make me feel comfortable with supplementing with formula. That was a life-changer for me and my baby and I'm so grateful to Jennifer for helping me to navigate that decision. Much to my disappointment, my baby also weaned from the breast early, and again, it was so helpful to have Jennifer's encouraging words and support through that difficult time.
