Starts early in the evening, and you're out before dark (written in May). You must make reservations for this dinner and a show, but it wasn't sold out on a Saturday night with just a few days' prior calling in for tickets. The food was SO GOOD! Salad bar and rolls started us off; when the warm buffet was served, a row of tables was asked to come forward. The dinner course was amazing! Tonight we had green beans, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, meatballs, salmon (with a delicious sauce on top), fresh carved ham and/or roast beef. I think there was chicken too, but it was temporarily not available when we went through the line. I'm sure it was great, but we were too full to return for more. Dinner is also served with a dessert. Now the play... it was adorable! We saw Becky's New Car, which was a delightful comedy. All the actors did a superb job, even Steve's understudy. Lots of laughs. Just had the most amazing evening at Early Bird Dinner Theater. We are repeat customers and feel like every year, the quality of the productions just keeps getting better and better. The proprietor, Susan, takes the best care of her customers. You are warmly greeted, as if you were an old friend, and taken to your seat by either a long time staff member or sometimes, one of the actual actors. The food is always consistently good and the caliber of productions continues to impress. We just saw the recent production of Love or Best Offer, and it was our favorite production to date. So unique and so funny. We love how this theater continues to evolve and stay current while remaining true to its heart and history. We will be returning for many years to come. read more

I love this place. The buffet serves delicious food, with something to please everyone, whether fish, chicken or beef. Side dishes and salad bar are excellent. Pick out your dessert when you get your dinner, or they might run out of the one you want. (PS - they're all good!). The servers are always pleasant and quick to bring your drink orders. The theater itself is big enough that you don't feel crowded. The sound system is good, and visibility is excellent (I'm short, so that's an important factor). As for the productions, I can't recall seeing a bad one. Tampa Bay is blessed with a lot of talent, and Susan Linardos picks winning plays and the right people to act in them. The current play, The Underpants, is a farce written by Steve Martin. It's witty and a bit risqué, but just right! I don't think you cans go wrong in choosing Early Bird. This was my second time visiting and both times were delightful! Today we had a group of 40 people and everyone enjoyed the food and play, ON THE FARCE DAY OF CHRISTMAS. The actors are very good and a pleasure to watch. The food is amazing, with a good variety and served at the correct temperature. My husband and I are vegan and someone said something about my salad, I simply responded that I was vegan and there would only be a few items on the buffet for me (and that's ok, I knew this going in. I can always fill up on a delicious salad) . Well, apparently one of the staff members, Mark overheard me. He searched me out of the 200+ people and made arrangements for me to have a vegan entree prepared by the chef! It was fantastic! He also said the next we visit call a day or two ahead to ensure that the chef knew and could prepare ahead of time. I was BLOWN AWAY! The play was adorable. The salad bar was empty when we got there at 4:10 and it was never replenished. The buffet was ok. The service was atrocious. We have been here a few times in the past and never had this situation. Don't know what changed. A typical buffet. Frozen veg, meatballs, something beef being sliced but it was not prime rib. But it was inexpensive. The comedy wasn't too funny but the actors gave it their all. It was great to be able to enjoy theater again, with vaccinations and a booster. Masks were optional; some people were wearing them. I suspect most patrons of the full house on December 4, 2021 were vaccinated. The performance of Centennial Casting was well done, witty and sharp. The cast was full of energy and enjoyed performing this comedy. I look forward to their performance of Boeing Boeing beginning on March 12. I met a lovely woman, Rebecca, who will perform in it as an Italian flight attendant. I have never seen the comedy and look forward to it at Early Bird. The food was enjoyable, and as light as I wanted to eat the weekend after Thanksgiving. The top round roast with horseradish and jus was just right. I went to see "All Bark, No Bite" twice. It was my first visits to this theater but it won't be my last. I have been craving live, unmasked theatre, and this show it the spot! The ambiance is really nice with massive chandeliers. The food is excellent being prepared by Banquet Masters in the same building. Steve, of Banquet Masters has been in business for years. Not matter what the venue, they are dependable with quality food and tasteful. They offer a good selection for this buffet such as fish, beef, pasta, sliced roast beef and so on. The salad bar is also fresh with many options to choose from and great desserts. You will not be disappointed. There is also a bar if you would like to indulge yet they provide a pitcher of iced-tea on the tables. i don't think I even ate anything the next day I was so stuffed. Here is a big tip for you. If able, arrive 30 minutes early before the bus tours arrive. This way, you can enjoy the salad bar and be first in line for the main buffet dinner. Just sit, relax, have a drink and get to the salad bar when it opens. Then you can be the first people to hit the hot buffet. And even if you don't the wait in line is not that long at all. I'm actually not the theater type yet the women love it! It's just nice to experience something different. Note to women, do not wear shorts or you will feel out of place. The guys can just wear slacks or dockers even with a shirt like a button down on the outside. Most wear tucked in with a belt and dress shoes. Yes, this is an older crowd but as Joy Behar on the View says, "so what, who cares?" All of the employees and service people are professional and helpful. You do have to read about the play, to a certain extent to see if you are interested. Don't spoil it by watching on Youtube.com!!! The actors are experienced and do a good job. I'm just a regular guy so "plays" really are not my thing. However, I've been here THREE TIMES and I will go again!! One of the biggest issues I noticed was bus tour seniors not leaving a tip of the table. I suppose they feel no one will know they are cheap because they are a part of a large group. Please seniors, don't do this to the wait staff who has to set up for you, remove all of your dirty dishes, serve you coffee and more. It's not like you do this everyday. You can at least leave $5.00 per person! So, in closing, it's a good value and a great place to take someone on a mystery trip! read more

The Earlybird Dinner Theater are always wonderfully funny + the tasty Buffet. My Girlfriend and I continue to attend each show of Bill Earl's Earlybird Dinner Theater as the shows are always entertainingly fun + the Buffet. Also, after you enter the Showroom while paying, make sure to take a look on the Wall behind the Entrance Desk, as Bill Earl looks just like former President John Kennedy. I was in town visiting and we decided to see a lunchtime showing of "Making God Laugh". We called ahead to see if we could forgo lunch and just see the show. That was fine and I believe there was an adjustment to the bill. We arrived slightly before the show began. There was a table in the back of the room reserved for the three of us. Between us and the stage were tables of 10 that were filled. We figured the room held 150. It was full save the few seats at the table we were at. The hostess of the theatre was funny. She put everyone at ease before the show. The show itself was typical dinner theatre, but we enjoyed it. A home for the holidays type of show we plenty of giggles. The actors came out and said goodbye to everyone as we exited the theatre. Parking was convenient as it was in a strip business mall. We did have a little trouble locating it. Our GPS put us on the other side of Ulmerton. Frankly, I think it is best to enter the strip from Ulmerton and not 49th Street. I would see another show here if the occasion arose. It's not Broadway, but if dinner theatre is what you are looking for, this was just fine. read more
