Oh my, this little hole in the wall gem is popular for a reason! What a treat for a small town diner breakfast during our visit! A brief wait, less than 5 minutes & we were seated in a giant booth. It could have fit a party of 6 easily. The entire atmosphere was very cozy, welcoming. Decorated like a traditional roadside diner. This is a popular spot for a reason- there's absolutely no way you can find anything less than awesome, here. The service is outstanding. They greet you upon arrival, seat you promptly, lovely personalities with the table interaction. It was such a pleasant morning enjoying breakfast here. While we each ordered something different & tried a bite of each other's, I seriously stick by my option. Biscuits & gravy is actually a bit hard to find these days! But, low & behold... I tried the enhanced version with an egg & sausage. It did not disappoint! Absolutely loved the dish- and the homemade biscuits made it even better. This was the real deal! The omelette was packed absolutely full of veggies & had a great consistency. It was more than plentiful for us to share a few bites! And that stack of a "side" of pancakes was literally enough for another entire meal!! We each split those & they were perfection across the board. One opted for the oatmeal- that bowl was also so big she could have made several meals out of it! And, it looked delicious. Just like Grandma's homemade would be served up. Both the hashbrowns & home fries were good, as well. Every aspect of the meal was on point. This was truly the best breakfast I've had in a long time! A classic diner in the heart of Pine! This spot is reminiscent of small town Midwest USA, which is where my husband and I are from. The eclectic decor felt comforting. We had no trouble getting a table for two on a Saturday morning before venturing out to hike. The menu is huge! Lots of options to choose from, and as I mentioned, a classic diner. There are no frills on this menu. Just good, old fashioned, comfort-food! I couldn't make up my mind, so I ordered the half portion of French toast, two eggs, and bacon (or sausage) meal. My husband ordered the biscuit stack - a gigantic biscuit, two eggs, and two sausage Pattie's smothered in gravy. This also came with either hash browns or home fries - my husband got the hash browns. I loved my French toast! It wasn't overly sweet, it was perfect. It was a little on the burnt side, which I secretly love. The bacon was perfectly crispy, and the fried eggs I got tasted delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well (biscuits and gravy is not my jam, so I only tried a bite). I loved his hash browns too!! They were perfectly crispy! Perhaps my favorite part of the meal was the random piece of fruit you get. It was the perfect compliment to the breakfast food. The portions are HUGE and everything is reasonably priced! Service was just ok. Our server was not very friendly, and never checked on us once someone else brought our food. Was super excited to try this. Saw the recommendation on an ad while staying at the Strawberry Inn! We arrived around 8:50am and parking lot looked full so expected a wait. Although, luckily, there was an open booth inside, outside and seats at the counter, but we opted for outside because the weather here is perfect (it's a cool breeze and sunny 66 degrees out!). There was a bit of a wait for our order being taken, which was fine (although we didn't expect it). The menu looks great, has some classics. I opted for the big breakfast (comes with 3 eggs, meat, potatoes, and pancake or biscuits), and my lover ordered French toast breakfast that comes with 2 eggs, meat (he got sausage) and the toast. We absolutely could have split either of our breakfasts, they were huge! You can tell they add vanilla to the batters, it makes such a difference! The pancake was massive and oh so light and fluffy, and the French toast was perfectly cooked. The ham steak was a large oval and the sausage was also delicious. The biscuits and gravy had a nice sauce consistency, although I enjoyed the flavor, my partner said it could have used more salt / pepper (a quick fix of course with shakers). Unfortunately the potato's I had were overly seasoned & salted. I couldn't eat them, I think they just weren't mixed well all the way.. I found a few that weren't overly coated and those, the crispiness and flavor were great. Good for a nice breakfast in strawberry/pine area... would probably try somewhere else before coming back, although I would definitely come back. Its pretty hard to get excited about standard diner breakfast. The Early Bird is no exception to this rule. Their menu has all the basics you would expect and nothing more. The service was quick and friendly. The prices are modest. The portions were ample. The fruit was fresh and tasty, The eggs were oily and unseasoned (try them with some house salsa). The house made biscuits are immense but unremarkable in taste. The building is old and creaky without any of the accompanying charm. I got value for my dollar, but I will look for something more fun next time I am in Pine Strawberry. read more

The service was friendly and quick and the FOOD, oh my goodness, I'll be dreaming about my eggs Benedict for months to come! The hash browns were perfectly crispy (I always order them well done), English muffin was dense, fresh and delicious, and all in all, I was one happy 9 month preggo mama after leaving this delightful spot! The place was busy with locals & tourists. The parking lot was full. We sat at a high top table and was asked for our drink order right away. The server was a little slower, but she was also taking care of the dining area to the right so it kept her running around. The food came out quick and was pretty good. The "large stack" for biscuits and gravy is really large and my husband was not able to finish it. I loved the thick and yummy bacon, but my 1/2 French toast order was a little hard to cut, even with a knife. This place was a big disappointment for me. The main turn off was the service, they have poor customer service here. Servers seemed unhappy when the place gets busy. The person who served us sounded robotic taking our orders, doesn't even smile, we felt like we're a burden coming here. Their food is okay, nothing special, just a typical breakfast place in a small town. Too bad my husband liked their cinnamon roll, but I will not be coming back to this restaurant because of their service. This place was busy when we got there. We decided to visit the adorable city of Pine for the day and not only is it a quick drive from Mesa but a very beautiful community. We got hungry and since everything was closed this was only 1 of 2 places to eat in town. I ordered a mushroom and Swiss cheese burger and seasoned French Fries. My meat patty was super dry similar to beef jerky I'm not sure what happened? But it was super hard to swallow. Now the French fries were really good not overly fried or salted. My boyfriend ordered a French Toast breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The French toast was really delicious warm, buttery and sweet with delicious maple syrup. During our stay in little town Pine, Arizona we found this cozy breakfast joint. Home cozy feeling with great customer service, no wait. Their waitresses were very attentive. Cooks and kitchen looked like family owned business. They say if the cook is skinny the food dont taste great like a chubby cook behind the grill. Well the food was delicious and the pancakes were amazing, fluffy, warm, with the right butter - whipped! best pancakes ever taste. Country fried steak was bathed with warm country gravy that hit the spot during this early Christmas eve morning. Eggs were farm fresh both scrambled and over easy. Service was a little slow and they seem to be a little under staffed, but believe this place is worth it. For The Mrs. Biscuits & Gravy ( short biscuit stack) home fries & a slice of cantaloupe. I chose the Pancake combo. Eggs anyway you want them, with a side of bacon and watermelon. Prices are dirt cheap here. Believe our meal cost a tad over $20 for food and coffee. The day trip was always about just making it to Pine to get out of the city and sit awhile in what I consider, idyllic peace and tranquility. Did that, and found something to make it even better; breakfast burritos at the Early Bird café. We have (as I'm sure everyone has), another restaurant against which all other breakfast burritos are measured. Over the years many places have fallen short for whatever reason; not even this or that, poor salsa etc etc. Put simply, the Early Bird kitchen makes a burrito to match our favorite ever. Outstanding. Slightly crispened tortilla, perfect egg and hash browns, juicy sausage and....amazing salsa. I was literally disappointed I ran out of the stuff. Upon finishing, I said to my wife, for once, I want to rewind the last 10 minutes and eat it all over again. It was that spectacular. My compliments to the chef! I'm such a fan of old school diners. The Early Bird Cafe is located in beautiful Pine right off Hwy 87. I came here early on a snowy day for breakfast. It was nice they had the heat on as the snow was coming down pretty good outside. I ordered the Big Bird Breakfast and was surprised how large it was. The pancakes are huge! I ended up taking most of it back to my hotel. Their prices here are just right for the amount of food you get. Early Bird Cafe serves both breakfast and lunch and breakfast is served all day. Look - The food was great. The waitress was nice and helpful. My coffee was always full. The owner and manager Shannon were rude and inconsiderate. When I came in I explained that I work remotely and I asked for a seat with a plug. I explained I would be there until 4pm. No one had an issue with this when I arrived - I was shown to a table. 3.25 hours later - The manager Shannon said the owner was mad that I was using electricity for "so long" and asked me to unplug my devices. I have a solar battery pack that I use in my van and it consumes 550 watts. I was there for 3.25 hours when I was asked to stop using electricity. That is less than 2KWH which is $0.28 at APS's highest rates. My battery pack had died the night before and I rely on it to power my van, my 5G router, and my laptop / devices so I can work remotely. I left a tip for the waitress. And I left $0.30 extra for the owner when I paid the bill. In short - This was a significant interruption in my work day and I will not be back. Every time we drive by, the parking lot is packed. Now we know why. The food is awesome! We came in for a late lunch after a day of thrift store hunting and this really hit the spot. I had 3 kids with me - 7, 11, and 13. My 2 youngest both ate off of the kids' menu - Kraft mac and cheese and a cheeseburger with fries (their fries are fantastic). My older son had a bacon cheese burger with fries and I had a bacon bleu burger with onion rings. The kids ate everything and so did I. It was just darn good food. The waitress even put together to go cups of our drinks (without request or reminders of what we were drinking) for us to take with us. Clean, good food, reasonable prices, and locally owned. And top that off with supporting our local firefighters. Can't ask for much more than that. Highly recommend. We will be back. read more

My in laws have a cabin in pine about 3 minutes from here so it was the closest and most convenient breakfast I could come by. Im assuming it's been here for a long time, as most places here have been. I'll start positively by saying the food is actually great. I came with my wife and some of my family. We all got waffles,pancakes, coffee and the usual breakfast sides like bacon, eggs, and hash browns. My little cousin got the Mickey Mouse pancakes, cool that they cater to children. Other than that I would say that the staff wasn't fond of our ethnic crowd, that's the vibe I got. And we got a lot of looks from other customers dining around us that gave the same perception. I understand that the town itself isn't filled with people of color but I would think that they've seen other humans besides the locals. The whole vibe of the place felt like the 1950's South, and I'm only old enough to have read about it. Waitress taking orders was really rude. Interrupts you before you can complete the order. It was a good old-fashioned cooking and may I mention the baked goods I ordered a cinnamon roll to start us off. It was amazing homemade very fresh. I literally feel like they made those the morning.
