I'm from the PNW and have dined at an Earls once before, but thought I would give it a try while visiting. Earls has a robust menu with a lot of food items (think anything from salad to sushi to burgers to pasta). The interior of the restaurant is nice and sleek, and definitely one of the nicer restaurants in the area. My friend and I split the Sante Fe Chicken salad, which was plenty of food for two people. We also each had the $2 off prosecco - doesn't get much better than that. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Another Earls I had to try. This is in a nice location right downtown Victoria. It is nice to get menu items you are familiar with when travelling and that is exactly what we got here. Service was Friendly. There is a good Beer selection here. They are again tending to lean to the Micro Brew trend, which I am not a fan of. Food was as expected, I had the Blackened Chicken and it was very good. The background music was a bit annoying though, as it started to feel like a Dance Club, so not really something I enjoy while dining. read more

The food is great and the drinks are incredible. My wife and I loved it. The service was excellent and prompt. This is all the best that Canada can offer. read more

Hate to do this but for the price, I've had far better. The chicken alfredo was about as uninspired as I've seen. Sauce, noodles and a tiny portion of chicken and that's it. Garlic bread or a few veggies are extra? The steak was an odd cut that was over cooked at one end. The mushrooms were like they came out of a can and the potatoes tasted powdered. Even the bar was sadly lacking. On the positive side, the server was nice. I've never seen servers in heels though, that's gotta hurt. Made me feel uncomfortable just seeing the poor girls like that. I tipped 10%, I never tip less than 20 but that's how I felt it should be. I won't be back. read more

Only had appetizers and drinks after a long day. Happy to find this place. It was pretty packed since it was one of the only food places open late during the week. They had a good drink menu with full bar. Try the spinach dip, it is really good and you wont be able to stop. read more

Friday nights are the best at Earls! I'm not usually the biggest fan of franchisey restaurants (you know, Cactus, Moxies, Earls, etc...) but we came here for drinks before heading out for a night on the town. Can I just say this, and end my review: 3 oz martini specials - $10.50 A pretty good way to kick off a fun Friday night. I had "The Skinny" (their low-cal version of a lemon drop), it was okay but a bit too sweet for me. My friend had the Green Envy one but asked to hold the melon liqueur making it a bit on the sour side, which I preferred. read more

Sadly this was my first stop in Victoria, as I arrived rather late and was too tired to look up the menu and images to make informed decision. Music was rather loud and not fit for conversation. I wasn't interested in most of menu listed so opted for bibimbap for veggie and rice menu which I'm familiar with. Server was nice and modern interior was pleasant and clean. However, this was good example never to order Asian dish in American bar. Container was luke warm (supposed to be sizzling hot stoneware) and veggies tasted like pre-packaged salad. "Hot sauce" was nothing but chili paste with sugar concussion. Rice was over cooked and mushy. I was starving yet could only finish half of it. I don't drink alcohol so sub-par food doesn't meet my standards, hence why I normally avoid bars. read more

My cruise had a 5 hour stop at the Victoria port, so my family and I decided we wanted to walk around downtown and find a place to just sit, enjoy a beer and just people watch. There's a huge pub scene here, so we knew it would be difficult to find a place to accommodate children under the drinking age. Earls was perfect for that reason. Our waitress was helpful in suggesting her favorite beers and telling us about the local craft brews. For a quite bite, we shared the prawn pesto pizza. Our waitress said it was a popular choice, and I'm glad we went with it. The crust was buttery sweet and was baked to a nice crunch. The blend of three cheese melded really well with the tart sun dried tomatoes and pesto drizzle. The prawns were substantially sized, too. I wish I was hungrier to try more of the menu or at least lived closer to Victoria! Until I make another trip to B.C., I'll just dream of the chocolate sticky toffee pudding plates I saw being served to tables nearby. Sigh. read more

I must protest the 3.5 stars. My friend and I were very entertained and catered to the entire time. The Host allowed us to pick our seat. The server was quick to greet us and answered our questions about their menu options. The food came very fast and it was fresh and full of flavor. I ordered the quinoa power bowl. So f*ing delicious. I could have licked the plate. So many veggies and the avocado was beautiful. My friend had the steak frites. The meat was juicy and melted in his mouth. Now for the awesome part...they made us a dressing to go with the fries as my friend is a picky eater. I have never had a restaurant make something from scratch but they were thrilled to deliver and it was amazing! No leftovers here. Neither one of us could stop ourselves. Very well done! Bravo! read more

Earls Kitchen + Bar - Quinoa Powerbowl. Heaven in a salad. - Canadian (New) Near Me - Victoria, British Columbia

Went there yesterday during a day trip to Victoria from Seattle. Menu looked good, but pricey, and it was located in a fun part of town. I had the chicken salad with feta, beans and corn and my husband had the pasta Alfredo with shrimp and scallops. Both dishes were good going down but not good coming back up! Both of us returned to Seattle last night sicker than we've ever been and proceeded to spend the entire night in the bathroom with very little sleep due to vomiting and severe stomach pain. Too much of a coincidence that we both got sick at the same time not to believe it was food poisoning. We've lost two days of our vacation and $250 due to a non refundable tour we had booked and could not attend , thanks to Earls. read more

The food here was really tasty and right up our alley. We're from Portland Oregon and it seriously met what I was expecting. I only give this a 3 star due to the lack of service we got. The waitress was too busy to check in on us. We waited maybe 10 minutes after our apps to get our actual order in. Never refilled my soda (this reaaaally threw her off, make sure you say POP) she was very nice in general just check on your tables more often! Otherwise check it out and get the chicken sandwhich sliders had a little kick and the roasted salmon was so bomb! Had a garlic dill aioli with jasmine rice....so good! Very good worth the price, just disappointed in the service. read more

Great experience trying Earl's tasting menu with a group of out of town visitors. Fantastic service, well thought out and executed selection of food and wine, with a couple interesting cocktails. Fun night!! read more

Had the Californian Prawn Pizza and a lemonade. The prawns were good, but the pizza did not seem to meet the standards that were expected of the restaurant. The lemonade was horrible and tasted like the Minute Maid frozen concentrate. As this was my third visit to Canada during the year, I have found this to be the case at most places, so I am not too upset. The place did forget to place sautéed mushrooms on my friend's burger and finally got them to her as she was just finishing (charged her full price). The other people in my party had no complaints. The restrooms had very little lighting and our server heavily encouraged us to drink. It is in an excellent location however. Overall, my meal was just okay, and I cannot really comment on the price as most things are much more expensive in Canada. read more

We happened to get to Earl's right at 9:00pm, which was perfect, because it was the start of their late night Happy Hour. It's a nice-looking place, and obviously very popular because it was really busy and noisy even on a weeknight. We asked the hostess for a table away from the loudest area (the bar) so that my friend and I could actually hear each other. OK, she lead us to a booth that was many decibels quieter, and that was appreciated. I ordered BBQ Ribs and my friend ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl from the regular menu. We also got Garlic Fries from the lower priced happy hour menu. My BBQ Ribs were delicious and fall-off-the-bone tender, and my friend's Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl was loaded with a variety of ingredients and very tasty. Garlic Fries were thin and shoestring-like and pleasantly garlicky. I had tried Earl's exclusive Rhino Pale Ale at another Earl's previously and really liked it but didn't want to order a whole pint of it. Our waitress (who, incidentally, resembles Gwyneth Paltrow) was kind enough to bring me a small complimentary sample glass of it, which was all I wanted. I really enjoyed the whole experience at Earl's. read more

We just had first experience here today. Cannot believe .....worse steak I ever had, way over cooked. It's my bad I should just rerun it.

Went on a busy Wednesday night and the hostess there was extremely rude and told us to get out of the way so she could greet people then looked behind to see there was no where to stand or sit due to a long wait for customers to be seated. She then told us to leave since there was no room for us! We were shocked so decided to go elsewhere. read more

Loved this place! The food was great, it had good customer service. Nice place in the city, good night life, but no crazy loud.

The staff is very nice and the garlic fries are the BOMB I love them and the Cesar salad was really good the staff is sooooo nice I can't explain it's a really good place they have sushi and tacos and burgers and fries and all kinds of food it's delicious! read more

Absolutely excellent dinner spot. We showed up with a fussy and jet-lagged toddler who needed to eat... and needed to eat right away. They didn't have anything available right away, but they found us a comfy spot outside almost immediately, seeing we needed something fast. Our server was kind and knowledgeable and brought the kids meal (chicken tenders and fries) in 10 minutes (or maybe less). They did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. Food was delicious, we had the swordfish tacos. Highly recommend! read more

Unbelievable experience at Earls Kitchen and Bar. My wife, in-laws, and I came in for a late dinner on a Friday evening. The meal was excellent...especially the Hawaiian coconut prawns and jerk chicken. There were very good local beers on draft, and an amazing old fashioned signature cocktail. But the highlight of our experince was the service by DeeDee...aka Miss America. Her attentiveness and recommendations were exemplary. I could go on...but suffice it to say that we came back for brunch at Earls the next day entirely due to the unparalleled service. read more

Too too tooo slow to clear a table and take an order. Food isn't so good to warrant the wait or the price.

Prices might be great during happy hour but restaurant hygiene is no good. We arrive and hostess told us it would be just a few minutes that they were setting up the table. No rush we're on vacation! We sit down and the table was dirty. It looked like there was sticky stuff left from the previous meal. No problem I'm not picky. I only get a knife, no fork and a dirty glass. The waiter comes by and fills up my glass with water and asks what we would like to drink. I mention to him that my glass is dirty so tells me he will bring me another one. 10 minutes later I get a new glass filled with water. Glass is dirty again (same glass or new one I don't know. Just dirty). It looked like old food was still crusted on it. I didn't ask again I was embarrassed at that point. The waiter proceeds to ask what drinks we want to have, that their wine is excellent and cheap. Their beer is amazing on happy hour blah blah blah but doesn't spend 1 minute to make sure the glass he just brought me is clean. Why would I order more drinks when he is not able to deliver something as simple as a clean glass of water... Food was good but the thought that everything was dirty totally ruined the meal for me. Had to check my burger to make sure there was nothing in there. Not sure if I would visit the place again. There just seems to be an overall feel that if you don't consume alcohol and the more expensive meals your waiter just forgets about you/customer care drops quick! read more

This place is OK. you can tell it's franchised. expensive and portions are small. I recommend eating somewhere more local. (luckily, there are many local places in Victoria.)Frankie's is right down the street-- better, cheaper food there. For breakfast, Jam or Blue Fox Café's are better. However, there is something for everyone here and the specials are good! (they don't have honey garlic chicken wings, though.) read more

Amazing food, great staff and drinks, and decently priced. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Victoria!

Wasn't sure where to eat for dinner... came across this restaurant and didn't think anything of it until our chicken wings came. OMG! Best teriyaki wings ever! My sister got the salad, soup, and bread. Again... Amazing! Our waiter was super kind and talked with us, gave us his opinion on what he thought about the dishes. Thank you Quinn! Definitely coming back tomorrow or even next time we visit Victoria. read more

August 22 During our vacation we have been sight seeing and going to places that were smaller and something that was quick. So when we past Earl's a few times during our stay. We decided we wanted to go to a place that you can sit and enjoy a nice meal. The prices are reasonable and some a little more. So it was right in the middle for our group for what we wanted to eat. They mentioned that there was wings half off. So why not and the beer was a deal also. Cool. Yes the ladies are beautiful and show a little more than expected. The men were also pretty nice to look at also. Not sure why they do this but they were extra nice and helpful and whatever makes the place get a variety of people in. The food very delicious and the waiter was very nice and accommodating. If and when we do visit again I will consider stopping in for a nice hot meal. Thank you for your great customer service. read more

I went to meet some friends there for a birthday party, and I ordered their Marinara pizza. When it came, they told me that it was made improperly and it was too small, so I was getting another one for free. And once the second one came (which, surprisingly, was much better) I was told that for the inconvenience, I didn't have to pay! The staff were incredibly helpful and very attentive, and were great with all of us. I'd like to thank them for being so great, and recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for great food and a great atmosphere to eat with friends! read more

It is our favorite late night spot. They got happy hours special after 9 p.m or so. We usually order drinks with salmon and sushi and more. It was my anniversary with my partner, not a big deal since it was only 11 months, but I still wanted it to be special. I went to Earl's and right when we walked in, it had a dirty rag smell (like when the water hasn't been changed for a while and it smells a bit moldy) I walked away from the entrance hoping that the smell was only in that location, so we sat in the far corner and unfortunately we could still smell the same smell over there. The waitress was very pretty (because if you have been to Earl's you would know all of the waitresses are very pretty) but she wasn't very bright. The food was good apart from the fries being to salty. In general the service was pretty good, however at the end of the night, I asked why our drinks were costing more than they should have on their $1off Martini night. (on the bill it showed the regular price) she stated that its because she gave us the "Earl size" at the discount price. The martini glasses could not have even fit 3 ouzes of liquor and if they did have 3 shots then it definitely would not taste primarly like juice. I host parties all the time, and since I am the bartender at my parties I know what 3 ouzes taste like (especially when I am completely sober) The second problem with this is that I ordered the regulary martini, and she did not mention at the time that she was putting in an extra shot of alcohol. So even if she wasn't lying about the extra shot, WHAT ABOUT IF I HAD TO DRIVE? Should I have to worry that when I order a drink it may have extra alcohol put in it simply because the waitress thought it was a good idea? All I have to say is, its great that Earl's has a great looking staff, and I'm sure that the guys that are in awe over there beauty might ignore the fact that their drink had a bit less alcohol and their server is a complete liar but if you are going for a good food experience I would not recommend Earl's in Victoria. read more
