These are my favorite kind of places in the world. From the moment I walked up and saw the big piles of wood outside I knew I was probably going to like this place. We had an amazing meal here. Every single bite was good. I ate myself damn near sick! I cannot wait to come back!! The day we were there the bartender was waiting on the whole place himself with just someone helping him run food and clear tables. We only had an hour before we had to be at an appointment, so when we sat down at the bar I got concerned that we would not have time to eat here. He was busy. He seemed behind. Thank goodness I was wrong. Once he finally got to us we were decided on our meals. He took our order on his little handheld register thing, grabbed our tasty beverages, and poof, off he went. C had the pulled chicken sandwich with deviled eggs and I had pulled pork, smoked chicken thighs, beans, and a giant pile of pork rinds. Holy shit it was good!!! I didn't pay attention to the fact that my thighs had AL white sauce on them until well after I had ordered. Had I know that, I would not have ordered them. I despise all things that have anything to do with mayonnaise. But.... Had I known, I would have never known. I fucking loved it! I could have eaten 10 of them. There were hands down the best smoked chicken that I have ever had. The pork was bad ass too! I dare say perfect. Beans were great, and the pork rinds side was massive and still warm from the fryer with a killer seasoning on them. There are not enough adjectives to describe this food. I am in love. I cannot wait to get some more of those damn chicken thighs!! '26 - 68

This place is a GEM. Ms. Gabriella saved me from malnutrition! Seriously, I was having tough time enjoying most of the food spots. But this was all around delicious. Ambiance=down home, think family style home. But the bonus is there is a museum next door. It wasn't open I'll check it out next time! Service = Friendly, patient, respectful and helpful. Everyone was so charismatic and engaging I felt like how you want to feel visiting distant cousins except here I got good vibes all around and could smell that the food would actually taste like it's supposed to! Parking = Easy safe and free my kind of pull up. Price = ridiculously affordable! Now food. Here's where it gets interesting. They cool the meals in the kitchen and keep it stocked up front for purchase. You can dine in or take out. Because everything is homemade style in hand crafted batches once it's gone it's gone until the next day. There are so many things to pick from because all of it is visually appealing so your eyes water and your tummy wonders to the point you're bound to get something extra. Do it. It's worth it! I had the fried chicken, Mac n cheese, string beans, and this collards and cornbread pie I had never ever seen or heard of. I also added a side of baked chicken and peach cobbler with a lemonade and a cup of ice water. That pie was so good I almost cried when it was gone. The chicken was crunchy but juicy even when i reheated some later. The baked chicken was so well seasoned and had a robust flavor of herbs not salts. All the sides were well balanced in texture and palette. And the peach cobbler was surprisingly really good without a lot of crust which is usually a turn off for me but not this place! I highly recommend grabbing a delicious meal if your like me and prefer good or great food.

It's kind of hard to tell what all the food options are, so I had to ask what some stuff was. I managed to get a meat and 2 instead of a meat and 5! There were quite a few veggie options that looked amazingly delicious! I do not recommend coming here hungry or hangry. Ok, sooo I love meat loaf so naturally that's what I got. I also got collards and cornbread dressing & yes they had cranberry sauce. Everything was good tasting. The meatloaf was a little sweet to my taste so I probably wouldn't order it again. The veggies were not over seasoned or overcooked. I will definitely comeback here bc there is still just so much I wanna try. The staff is nice and took care of the crowd. I even witnessed them give a person in need food, as they were about to dig in the restaurant's garbage can outside for scraps. Made me count my blessings.. all of them! There is street parking only. I didn't have any issues parking on a Sunday afternoon. The inside of this restaurant is not big but I was comfortable dining in.

Tilapia was crispy like I like it, but dry for mom in law. It was busy but not too busy, with the buzz of various conversations, clinking of tableware, buffing of tables around us. Good variety of customers and no one overstayed their welcome to allow the next customers a seat. Each employee was personable and kept the lines flowing, and even after the register an older gentleman politely led us to the next available table which provides efficiency as well. Will be back!

Do not get the cabbage unless you need fiber. The service was ok. It took forever to get drinks at first but after that we got plenty of refills. I have worn the same Pepsi hat to every restaurant, gas station, casino, gift shop, and livestock auction from Missouri to Montana. It's basically my formal wear. So naturally, when I saw a place called Eugene's, I nearly drove into the parking lot before I finished reading the sign. The young man taking my order immediately complimented my Pepsi hat. Folks, that bought more goodwill than any rewards program ever could. I told him I've worn this hat across 47 states and through three separate back injuries. He nodded like he understood the responsibility. I ordered the hot chicken. Now listen. I love chicken. I don't mean normal people love chicken. I mean if chicken ever ran for president, I'd volunteer for the campaign. This chicken was good. Real good. Crispy, juicy, enough heat to remind me I'm alive but not enough to make me start seeing old ex-boyfriends. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I built it up too much in my head. A restaurant named Eugene's serving chicken to a man named Eugene? That's a lot of pressure for one meal. Still, I cleaned my plate, adjusted my Pepsi hat, and rode off into the sunset like the gay cowboy God intended. Great job fellas.

And good thing I did! I looked at the menu and honestly wanted to order everything cause it all sounds good. I don't eat much so I went with the two piece chicken tenders kids meal. She then said "It's the same amount of food." which, ok cool, but I don't think that should be said cause they can lose out on money. Just my opinion. And FYI, I very often get kids meals cause I really don't eat a lot. Not trying to save money or anything. The meal came with two chicken tenders, sauce, fries and a drink. Fries were good. Also, gratuity is added automatically to every ticket, regardless of party size. I'm a tipper, but I don't like being forced to do it upfront regardless of how service may be. To me, that sometimes equals poor service because the server knows that she's gonna get a tip regardless of performance. Overall, this is a place I visit every now and again. The restaurant was extremely dark inside, and the music was much louder than necessary, making it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the meal.
