I eventually was directed to Mario's Garage and I'm so happy I found this place. As a woman, I'm always on high alert with mechanics taking advantage of me assuming I don't know anything about cars (tbh I don't lol). At Mario's Garage they were honest with me, charged me very reasonable prices, and were very understanding of any financial restraints I had. They spent extra time explaining to me what was going on with my car because I was honest about how little I know about cars. As he was getting it done, he got to taking the filter off. It was super tight and hard to remove. He had to use tongue pliers. When it finally came off.... we discovered an OEM filter....? Shouldn't the filter look a lot more cleaner and less used? Last time I had this done was about 2-3 months ago. Clearly the multiple times I've gone, they didn't replace the filter as I was told. Nearly $100 dollars for an unfinished job that could have potentially hurt my car. This is absolutely unacceptable and a straight up scam. I imagine they tightened it up so it would be hard to get to it or they never even touched it. Save your money and go somewhere with honor. I was thinking of going here for my brakes but I'm glad I dodged that bullet. So disappointed.

(And to be fair Sergio seemed to be a bit boggled by the issue I brought him but he still went ahead and did a repair...) Fast forward a few months and the issue still persisted, and the transmission ended up not shifting into other gears, so I ended up taking it to a specialty transmission shop yesterday (03.18.2026). All in all I would recommend this shop but maybe just for simple repairs and nothing too out of the ordinary since they do not specialize in any particular area of autos. *Also, it would've been better if they just said that they dont or wont touch the transmission. Unfortunately the repair that was done here may have ultimately damaged the internals because of lack of knowledge with this vehicle. *On another note, I called the number provided on Yelp (and also what I had saved on my phone) and another "Sergio" answered claiming to be a car wash person and he was confused on how I got "his" number. If they did change the number they should disclose it on Yelp so others wont call the wrong person/ repair shop. (Number I called was 805.483.7901 as it shows on Google and Yelp.) This is not to bash anyone, im simply stating that if a shop is not knowledgable on a particular vehicle they (the shop) can choose to offer the client an alternative shop instead of taking on work they cant fulfill or diagnose correctly. In all these years, I only had to bring my car back once, and it turned out the issue was completely unrelated to the original repair. One experience that really stood out happened years ago when my car key broke off in the trunk lock. A mobile locksmith quoted me $250 to remove the broken piece and make a new key. Instead, I took the car to Sergio's. Chava came out with a small tool, removed the broken key in less than five minutes, and had me on my way. He didn't charge me a dime. That kind of honesty, professionalism, and customer service is hard to find these days, which is why I continue to trust Sergio's with my vehicles.

The labor rate was fair, the communication was clear, and instead of pushing one expensive path, Danny took the time to explain different options for replacement parts and what made sense financially. I live in Woodland Hills, and Sharp's is in Oxnard, so this was not exactly around the corner for me. But after that first experience, I felt comfortable enough making the trip because it already felt worth it. After that, I came back with my own 2016 Chevy Volt for an A/C issue. Since that car does not have a traditional belt-driven compressor setup, I knew it was going to take more than generic trial-and-error diagnosis.
