I called them to see if they would replace u-joints. I spoke with a gentleman and he asked me a few questions such as which u-joints, etc. I said I would find out and call him back. I called back and spoke with a girl, she took down my information. I told her it was the u-joints on the driveshaft. She told me she would check and get back to me. I waited two hours, and when I called back, she replied to me they don't do that. It appears kind of fishy to me, because the guy was asking me which ones? Although the owners of Buena Auto Care and I may not agree on NFL teams, I know I can always count on these guys to do a great job on my beloved lil convertible. Yes, I cheated on them once and had some work done at a dealership, but, let's attribute that to momentary lapse of judgement on my part. I first found these guys a couple of years ago when I had to have my car towed due to a faulty alternator. New in town, I asked the tow truck driver, "if I was your daughter, who in town would you trust for me to take my car to?" and without hesitation recommended this place. So, the latest, my car has been grinding on the back right for several days, I brought it in today for them to take a look and do oil change while they were at it, said depending on prognosis, I'd either have them fix today or cone back Friday (payday). Well, brakes were grinding into the rotor. Instead of replacing rotor (extra $300(, mechanic said they can just shave it a little, was only on one side, only needed brake pads on left. Gave me the quote, he deducted brake inspection cost. I said ok. Few minutes latwr, he said, "I goofed, your quote is actually..." and I was prepared to go apeshit thinking is was gonna be $5,213 higher, until he said, "about $33 less than what I originally quoted you." I took my car in here a while ago to have my turn signal switch replaced. They did such a great job, that I decided to take my car back so they could try to figure out why my brakes were squealing. I bought my car from Paradise Chevrolet, it was a fleet car, which meant that I was the second owner. I took it back there first to see if they could fix the squealing; they could not. Then I took it to Brakemasters with the same result. Then ABC Automotive said they couldn't hear a squeal even though my next-door neighbors COULD hear it. Buena Auto Care fixed it the first time and did it in less than a day for a reasonable price. I was told what the issue was and was shown my old parts as proof of what they told me. read more

Came here a few times after I suspected it was a mistake. Last time I came in to see why their fix I paid hundreds of dollars for only lasted a week. They charged me $50 to tell me why they fixed my car improperly. Then they recommended I fix it sub-standardly again and didn't even look into how to actually fix it. If I didn't have to get someone else to handle it for me I would have never paid these shit to tell me why they didn't fix my car. Took a car in for pre-sale inspection. They spent several hours going over the car and doing a driving test. The test was being paid for by a potential buyer. I saw that there were was one issue that I would repair and went that same day to get the parts to fix. I asked if there were issues that they saw that would need repair. They told me that they would not discuss that with me as the potential buyer was paying for the inspection. It was clear they wanted to force the work to be done by them. The shop is a dump with half completed projects scattered everywhere. I'm a car guy. I own maintain 9 cars including classic Jaguars. I do all my own work including the restorations. Since I drive a lot for work, I just wanted to get it fixed so I took my car over to Buena's. Kevin was so honest and accommodating. He found 2 nails and said the tire was still fixable. He took only about 35 minutes to plug my tire and it's still in great shape! He could have easily lied to me like other mechanics tend to do with females. I appreciated his honestly and expertise. Kevin, is a crook! at buena auto care he charged me $55.00 to tell me my car needed a thermostat, my car was not hooked up to a code reader, his guy did research on the computer to find out what's wrong with my car came back and told me that it needs a thermostat, but that I had to pay 55.00 to do that + 349.00 for parts and labor, I paid the 55.00 told them I'm taking my car to someone else, cause I felt something was not right, when I got to this other guy he told me "Kevin cheated you it's against the law for him to do that". Finding a good mechanic can be such a pain at times. At Buena Auto Care the experience is a differnt one: They are honest and straight forward mechanics to work with. Poor service so unprofessional will never go back I took my 2004 Chrysler van for an engine check.There was $300.00 fee to run diagnostics and estimate the problem.The next day they asked for $400.00 to change some wiring and replace a cable I needed my car fixed so bad I was ready to pay. The day after I was informed that there was another part needed to be replaced for another $700.00 they didn't know about until doing the wiring and when I asked why I wasn't informed about the new part during the diagnostics ,the answer was (We have no super power to tell what else the van might need) and there will be no warranty what so ever for the repair and the service if I choose to go on and fix the damn van. I wanted to pull myself out of the deal smelling the trouble. I couldn't afford to pay for the extra part but it was too late. I came back after five days and paid $700.00(diagnostics and wiring fees) to get my van back at the same condition UNFIXED when I drove in day one. Good news? the owner Bryen who teaches in a local collage was more then happy to give me a US Veteran discount for my service overseas which was worthed $55.00. I know I sound like a broken record in saying over and over again that we are new to the area, but we are and I think that's important to note in this review in particular. When you are new, you don't know whom to trust for your auto maintenance needs. Yelp is super helpful in this way, and I used the good help reviews for this place in deciding to have my truck serviced there yesterday. I am glad I did. I made an appointment, which I recommend so that your mechanic can have all of the supplies specific to your vehicle make, model and year. I was given an estimate and I chose to wait while the work was performed. The staff are friendly and chatty, and offered me water or coffee about a half a dozen times - very nice! The manager asked me if I needed to know anything about Ventura - restaurants, etc...which was really thoughtful. When my truck was done, it came out to a little more than the estimate, and the manager showed me why. He then said he would only charge me the estimated amount, as that was what was agreed upon. That is nice and all, but I insisted on paying full price - you should pay for the work performed, and an estimate is just that - an estimate. It might be a little more, and so long as there is a legit reason why, that's to be expected sometimes. The manager also went over the status of all of the things they checked in their very comprehensive vehicle inspection which I also appreciated. I didn't have to leave wondering if they checked the battery connections for corrosion or anything like that. I will be back, I think we found our new regular mechanic. Give them a try. read more
