    Frayed hall sensor wires needing attention before repair.

    I was looking for shops that would repair my e-bike motor issue where some hall sensor wires were exposed/severed causing it not to work and throw out controller errors. The way it looked I was certain it was going to be a new motor purchase because I didn't have the know how to repair it being so close to the hub. So I searched and found this individual and read the reviews and I had my doubts because I tend to read the negative ones 1st. Then read the positive ones. I was desperate not to spend $ on a new motor. He was the ONLY one that said he was able to do such a repair and actually at a decent rate. He told me he could work on it at my home but I had limited space and he said he could pick up and drop off when done so that I can test it to make sure it worked. Told him that it was a major time consuming task to put it back in and didn't want him to wait. Told him I pay him and pick it up when he is done and call and let him know once it is installed and tested. So I was told I could bring it over to his residence and left it with him overnight since I was not going to wait for it and had appointments the following day. I had low expectations and basically if it did not work after his fix I'd just deem it as "diagnostic fee" and bear down and buy a new motor. He was done with the repair and called me early afternoon and I went to pick up and was told he did the best he could to separate the wires that were touching and the wires were not that bad. Told me to be careful since that area of the wire is fragile. So I installed it, tested with no load, and then rode it for a mile and it seems ok for now.

    Brand new rim ruined after using a flat head screw driver to install a tire and liner, the bead of the time was ruined.

    I strongly advise staying away from this company. Writing a negative review is not something I take pleasure in, but I feel it is necessary to warn others about my experience. My gut feeling was off from the start, but I ignored it and proceeded to arrange a service with this provider after several messages back and forth. They attempted to explain away the fake reviews flagged by Yelp as an issue with Yelp itself, but it was clear that all these posts were made within the same period. What initially appealed to me was their competitive pricing and the fact that they were willing to come to me. I needed an ebike conversion kit installed and provided them with videos from the company showing the installation process, along with a detailed list of components that required installation. The day before the scheduled service, we had a video chat to ensure they understood the project. Traveling to me via public transit was not an issue, but since they had to travel a considerable distance from Outer Sunset in San Francisco to San Jose, I decided to pay for an Uber from Bart to my house and back. Although they had a lot of questions and seemed disorganized during their travels, I attributed it to the multiple connections they had to make. When they arrived at my house, I was taken aback by their appearance as they were dressed in cowboy boots and a mini skirt with their backside exposed. However, I disregarded it as I did not want to judge their fashion choices. The real problem arose when they started working on my bike. They claimed to have watched a lot of installation videos but did not pay attention to the details. They already knew everything, which was a major red flag. During our discussion, it was evident that they did not fully comprehend the product and described the opposite of what was shown in the installation videos. They attempted to install the wheel liners on the rim but struggled and scratched the entire side of the rim with a flathead screwdriver. When I pointed out the damage, they downplayed it and suggested using touch-up paint to fix it. At that point, I had seen enough and sent them home. To add insult to injury, they had the audacity to ask for $10 as compensation. I made it clear that they could only have the money if they paid for a new rim. In conclusion, I strongly advise against using this company's services. They clearly do not know what they are doing and could damage your bike.

    This is the charger he stripped to expose the wires and told me to stick into my battery port with no ground. So very professional!

    Andrew was fast, responsive and repair cost was very reasonable. Will come back if need service in the future

    Fixed my issue with my e bike battery, fast service. Wasn't what I was expecting but my issue was resolved.

There were some parts I hadn't anticipated needing to change but George and the staff at Barbary Coast caught them and reached out to me regarding the issues. This shop clearly takes pride in the quality of their service and treated me and my bike accordingly.

My dog was still in the stroller, and I asked multiple times whether I should remove her. I was concerned about the weight on the tires and bearings while he was servicing it, and my dog was visibly uncomfortable with him lifting the stroller while she was inside. He picked up the stroller several times by the front wheel, which seemed awkward at the time. As soon as I left, I realized the front swivel wheel was no longer functioning properly. It now defaults to facing backwards (180°), and the tire rubs against the swivel with every turn. This made it extremely difficult to get my dog home, especially because she has mobility issues. The stroller is not a luxury item for us -- it's something I rely on every single day for my dog, groceries, laundry, and basic errands. When I told my son what happened, he mentioned that he had a similar experience at the same shop a couple of weeks ago. He and a friend brought in a bike with a brake issue. The shop offered to help and didn't charge them, but whatever was done made the bike worse. Sending a kid out with a bike in worse condition than it came in is a safety issue, especially since my son recently had a serious fall due to a mechanical problem. I understand that Spokeasy didn't charge us for these services, but free work still needs to be safe and competent. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. For these reasons, I can only give Spokeasy one star.
