I would give E Sea Diver a full 5/5 stars if it wasn't for the very first interaction we had when checking in. My husband purchased a Groupon for us, and with some initial confusion on where to go to check-in, we eventually arrived. The gentleman working the counter was EXTREMELY rude, very short, and barely talked one shot above a whisper unless we asked him to repeat himself. Having read a few other reviews just now, I'm pretty sure others have had the experience. He asked if we ONLY wanted to snorkel (which is what we bought the Groupon for), and while I didn't fully hear that part of the conversation between him and my husband, I'd heard enough in the 5 min conversation to be instantly turned off. Not sure if we'd be charged extra or not, we settled for just snorkeling. I can't say enough though about how great the crew onboard was though. Nacho and Matte both gave amazing demonstrations about what to expect, with a little humor sprinkled in. They were very interactive with their customers, and even gave us some sushi recommendations to try while we were in town. Unfortunately, my personal experience with snorkeling wasn't the best. I had a reallyyy hard time with not being able to breathe through my nose, even with the really considerate warning they gave on the boat. I can't stress enough that deep breaths are important, and if you're not a bomb-proof swimmer, go for the life vest or the waist strap they offer to give you a little extra reassurance. My husband on the other hand was a natural! I was, however, able to take the information we got from Matte and Nacho and use it on our second snorkel excursion to have a much better and relaxed time - my husband almost couldn't get me out of the water, and got back on the boat before I did! I felt reassured that the crew had our backs with safety as the ultimate goal, and even if I couldn't fully enjoy myself in the water, still got to float around and hang out with my hubby. We were bad about not having any cash on our trip, so even though we weren't able to tip, I'd have no problem recommending them to anyone trying to decide between the 100s of options Oahu has to offer. Ryley, Troy, Peter and Captain Eric were the best crew we could have asked for! I accidentally dropped my phone in the ocean and without hesitation the entire crew went to help get it. Peter and Troy went to dive down after asking a few questions (like the color of the phone case and where I might have dropped it). They didn't make me feel guilty or anything and made no judgmental faces or comments. As they were diving, Eric spotted the phone at the bottom from on board the boat and Peter retrieved it, diving 35 feet! I can't thank the crew enough for quickly retrieving my phone. Gear was provided for snorkeling; mask and flippers really made it a great experience. They had fish food to get the fish nearby so we were able to see a lot of fish. We did the 5-in-1 and it was definitely worth it for all of the activities. There was also free water, lemonade, chips, and granola bars as well as transportation! The entire crew was really friendly, asking if we wanted pictures or if we needed anything. Ryley was really friendly, especially with the little kids, and Peter explained to me and my brothers how to dive deep in the ocean. On the way back to the harbor, Captain Eric let people drive the boat which was a really cool experience! Peter was our MC/host and shuttle driver and did a really great job. On the drive back, he pointed out a lot of good food spots around the town and we'll definitely be checking them out. read more

We had to change our snorkel tour from a Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon as my partner and I weren't feeling well and luckily staff was kindly able to accommodate us. I went on the 1.5 hour whale watching cruise. The boat is a little beat up but it doesn't really affect your cruise. The engine is brand new, so there's no worry about it stalling out in the ocean. The staff are really nice, especially the man with the big beard. They have free lemonade and snacks to enjoy while watching the whales. If you are in a wheelchair, the pier is locked off by a fence if you need to leave your wheelchair at the pier, which I have done in the past when I went with them. The boat has a ramp, so they don't have to pick up your wheelchair or scooter and put it on the boat, you can just ride up onto the boat. They charge a $7 pp fee to actually take the cruise, after you paid for the cruise already from Groupon. I don't know what that game is about, but it's gone on for a long time. I suspect it's a way to cheat Groupon out of it's percentage of the sale. Keep in mind although you can buy a Groupon for a whale watching cruise in November, they don't run the cruises then. They only run the cruises in the winter. They also don't run all scheduled cruises - they cancel them if the weather is nasty. So it's possible you won't actually be able to use your Groupon while on vacation. Getting a refund after they cancel a cruise can be a frustrating experience. I think it's because the owners have a language issue. When you get messages from them, sometime it pops up in Korean instead of English. On the signs at their shack, most everything is written in Korean. Assuming you can deal with the uncertainty of actually using your Groupon, it's a good value and good experience. I think they mean well, they just don't have English communication skills like other companies do. read more

We wanted to close out summer with some fun for the kids, so we booked the "Deluxe Package" with E Sea Diver, which includes snorkeling, sea kayaking, standup paddling, water slide, and trampoline. We did a similar encounter off the Waianae Coast, but decided to do a tour with the Waikiki backdrop. Boat departs from the Kewalo Basin at 9am and takes about 15 minutes to the destination stop. Today was a windy one with choppy conditions and harsh current. That didn't derail our determination to have a blast! 3 hours well spent out on the ocean! Highly recommend this tour for the price point. We saw whales almost nonstop, and even joined a group of about 100+ dolphins at one point, very memorable. Only weird thing was the owner/manager was pretty rude and nonchalant about his business while checking people in. He cancelled the trip before ours and left those customers pretty upset, and then he kept answering customer calls and putting them on speaker and not speaking into the phone while dealing with other customers. So the whole time in line you are just listening to the owner, a customer physically present at the check-in site, and a customer on speaker on the phone, all saying "what?" over and over again. Felt like there was a better way to do business, but ultimately my tour was great. read more

Really fun activities that are included in the 3hr turtle snorkel deluxe. The water slide is actually faster than you'd think. They supply fins, snorkel gear and life vests. It was 90+ people and there were a handful of larger groups that were for rowdy, loud, and running all over the place. My younger kids loved the variety of activities but my high school graduates couldn't stand the chaos and hyper kids running around everywhere with their flippers on running into you and screaming. This was one of the most fun activities we did in our short stay at Hawaii. Purchased the 3 Hour deal through Groupon. We were unable to contact someone on the phone to make the reservation but did receive a call back next day after sending email. So definitely email ahead of time if purchasing though Groupon. Definitely kids and adult friendly activities. The water slide and snorkeling was so much fun. We saw so many fishes and dolphins! Conquered my fear of heights and jumped off the second floor off the boat into the beautiful blue ocean. Kayaking was also fun but a little tough with the strong waves. Recommend doing the 9 am reservation versus 1 pm. The staff was great. Especially Luna, really sweet and friendly. Life jackets and snorkeling gear are provided. Took snacks and drinks since they are allowed (and since we did the 9 am reservation took bananas since we had not done breakfast yet). But Only downside was that we were not warned about "no bananas" on the boat. Apparently it's bad luck and was rudely told by one of the crew members to get them out the boat before departing. Honestly felt like I was about to get kicked off the boat. Way to start our activities. Did not mean to offend anyone but warning would have been nice. So Heads up! Do NOT take BANANAS! This is not what you want if you're looking for an actual snorkel tour. You will be about 20 min off the Waikiki coast and get to swim and do activities around the boat, like going down the water slide, paddleboat, etc. But the spot has no reefs and it's pointless to try to snorkel as you won't see much if at all. It's also very choppy probably for that reason and an average person will likely get sea sick. Not the relaxing tranquil waters I imagined. My biggest complaint is that they sell this as "turtle snorkel tour" which is laughable. Just name it what it is, then people like me don't waste our time and your business doesn't get disappointed customers and unwanted bad review like this one. We booked parasailing at 10am and deluxe snorkeling/underwater scooters at 1pm from Groupon. Once we got there, we checked in for parasailing and a few min later, it was cancelled due to high winds. The staff allowed us to reschedule our parasailing, but let us know that snorkeling will still be on for 1pm. Everything was fine and we were happy at this point. When we came back for our snorkeling/underwater scooters, we realized that they put us on a boat that is only basic snorkeling. This is $150 for two people and we paid $300 for our deluxe package. I understand the weather conditions are the reason we were not able to participate, but why did they redeem our voucher and not even inform us until we were already on the boat? I called the next day and the only thing they could offer was rescheduling the activities. I decided to go to another company that is transparent with their customers. Had we known before getting on the boat, we could've rearranged our plans to reschedule for another day rather than waste our time on a basic snorkeling boat. And not even a refund for the difference of the packages. Smh. read more

Boat was too full (over 100 people, which I realize is below actual maximum capacity for boat but does not make it enjoyable.. we lined up for 10 minutes to get into the water due to people hesitating (understandable but still too much wait..) etc... Water was choppy and the Deluxe package folks were literally kayaking over us the snorkelers.. most are very inexperienced kayakers and could not move well in choppy waters and were hitting us with the paddles.. they kept getting yelled at to get closer when they were perceived as too far (so I understand for safety but you guys need a better plan.. either it's a kayaking thing and a guide goes out with them and explains how not to hit people or you forget about the kayaks...) Trampoline had a hole in it and kids fell out. The slide is lame. We saw no turtles on top of all the annoyances and at least one staff member was vaping on board about an hour after the long lecture of fire safety... There was no guide swimming with us showing us the best spots etc... also the guide should tow a safety ring or surf board in the water with the group.. they did not and two members of our group ended up towing back an adult customer who got overwhelmed in the waves (he was not wearing a life jacket) and they got tired doing this and ended their snorkeling. I have had the chance to snorkel in Tanzania and sadly this was more poorly organized, which is not good guys. Would definitely NOT recommend. Pay $30 and rent snorkel guide off the beach. Not a location for snorkeling. Water is choppy murky. The staff scattered fish food around the catamaran to attract fish but we did not see much. I wish we were closer to shore so we can see more in calmer waters. I got really seasick as did about 10% of the passengers. The staff was really nice though. I spent the whole trip dangling off the back of the catamaran unable to enjoy the awesome waterside, trampoline, paddle boards, kayaks. If you have ever experienced the slightest motion sickness, do NOT do this trip. You will get seasick and stuck on the boat for 3 hrs! read more
