I worked diligently to correct the issue with our 4-prong plug outlet showing me what the issue was and describing how he could fix it. He referred to the price for the repair. EI came out to install my Tesla Wall charger over a year ago. Arrived on time. Did the work. Charger worked ok for over six months. No issue with that install (I think). Problem was my charger stopped working. Called them back in October 2020. Guy arrived on time. Discovered the circuit breaker they attached the wall charger to had melted. Advises me that my panel was overloaded and a new panel needed to be installed. "It's gonna be a bigger job" I told him you guys installed the charger the first time and why did you overload my panel then? Charged me for a service visit and I followed up with the owner Dave in November. Said he's call me when things slowed down. Never heard from them. Got another licensed electrician to come out. Reinstall the new Tesla Wall charger without a new panel. To the new guys credit - he would not speculate on the prior problem. An electrical engineer I know who works with large breakers told me a breaker melting like mine did is caused by arcing which could mean it wasn't snugly connected. I'm writing in behalf of my mom who hired an electrician from EI electrical Mr Michael Mayers to change out a fuse box in her condo in Waikiki in May 2025. He gave her an estimate of 9,700 and she wrote a check for it, which he took even before he did anything. The day of the service he shows up 3 hours late and she was very upset bc he was late and her building electrician told her she had been drastically overcharged just to change out a fuse box. She told him when he came she wanted her money back and to cancel the job. He and the company has refused to pay her back. She is still waiting for her money back and this happened in May 2025. The company refuses to pay her back . The manager Joe has hung up on her and berated her when she has called. She is 85 and so stressed about this loss of money. No aloha spirit and ELDER ABUSE. They have no integrity in this company. Hawaii doesn't need a company like this. Reading other reviews, the manager Joseph or Joe has a bad temper and has hung up on other customers too. read more

Quick response to our phone call for an estimate. We paid $195 up front which would come off the bill. My husband and neighbor had tried to fix the problem with no luck. Daniel was our technician and he seemed very knowledgeable and likeable. The price was steep for two eyeball lights and dimmer switches-almost $2k! We had some issues with flickering and Daniel came back two days later and solved the problem. I would use them again. Positives: Quick response to call and completed quickly. Aside from a little scheduling confusion, I am extremely satisfied with my experience with E I Electrical. My yelp inquiry was replied to and scheduled fairly quickly. No other business reached out to me like E I Electrical. Unlike other businesses on Yelp, they treated my small residential project like they would with an industrial commercial one. For customers: The $195/95 'assessment fee' is just to show up (even if it's to change a light fixture), and there is nothing to assess. They quote you a separate fee for actual work performed. $230 to install light fixture + $95 'assessment fee' = $325. The assessment fee was not credited to the work, nor did the work exceed 1 hour. read more

I would not recommend (and if you check my reviews, you will see I do not often give bad reviews). I would recommend you look at Jennifer and Courtney's reviews and I can say our experience was the same. The charge to give us an unacceptable (too high) estimate was $195. We need 3 landscape lights fixed (minor wiring repair). The company responded quickly and sent someone to Mililani. Although my husband knew the service fee, he (like others) expected a reasonable repair bill from which the $195 would be deducted. The assessor was on site for 30 minutes. Said we would have to replace 1 light and he could not fix (just needs rewired) and emailed an estimate of $570 to install one light (which we would provide ($291)) and "clean up landscape wiring" ($276). The $195 bill does not say it is a consultation but that it is a "non-specific repair #1." I seriously question this business methodology and will not be using this company. read more

My Nest was displaying an electrical error and I called various companies to try to fix it including Nest support but no one seemed to be able to help me. I called a couple companies that were not responsive but this company responded right away. They came out the following morning and worked hard to determine the problem which was unique and ended up being in my attic. Thanks to E l Electrical I finally got my AC working again. They also fixed a problem I had with a sensor on my garage which had me going through lightbulbs once a month. Work requested this time (replacement of two ceiling fans) was not possible without purchasing a $1,000+ service agreement of some sort that only included visits to inspect electrical systems/items but no repairs. The quote I was given included cutting concrete to remove two outlets and move the stove outlet from the middle of my kitchen to the wall while keeping the lines in the wall. When the job was completed, there was minimal cutting into the concrete and the electrical line for the outlet was installed on the surface of the wall and the outlet was placed about a foot and a half from the floor, where the stove would have stuck out three inches from the counters. So now I have an ugly electrical box with conduit in the middle of my kitchen wall. The electrician signed off on the work as I wasn't home to look at the job and accept the work as completed or sign the authorization for the credit card charge. I called to complain about the work and was told the electrician would come back the next day and to discuss the quote with him then. The electrician returned the next day to lower the outlet but lied that the quote was for the job to be surface mounted when there was no discussion about that when he gave me the quote. He also charged almost 2000%, for the material he used to accomplish the job (he charged me $300 dollars for an appliance outlet that costs $20 at Home Depot). I placed a dispute with my credit card company and put in a RICO complaint. read more

It's nice when a business' first opportunity to present themselves they address every concern you may have and answer all your questions. Most businesses on the island go for the hard sell and don't put out their credentials. They were able to diagnose my problems just from the pictures and my issues were resolved quickly. I loved that they were familiar with my building and have worked with the same standard equipment made hearing their assessment stress free. I mean it's really important when you have a building built in the 1960s because there are a lot of unique challenges you can face, creative wiring that needs to be fixed, grandfathered in equipment used which is out of code, and getting permits with the city and state to perform work. I had a long list of questions and I didn't even have to ask, they were anticipated and answered before I had the chance to which saves me a lot of time and money. I hired a home inspector to review a property and the report came back with a lot of items that needed to be addressed and so I really needed guidance. Luckily I took a chance on Yelp and found E I Electrical. They promptly responded to my request for a quote and sent the most amazing technician Alden R. who took the time to review the electrical findings on the report and helped to address what needed to be done and took care of those most high priority items for safety reasons. Then could advise on timing and necessity of other maintenance items. Luckily one of the items wasn't an issue and we just were brainstorming and he with his expertise was able to map out a plan. He needed to go on another call and would send an estimate, but his afternoon got cleared and he could circle back and actually take care of the job same day. Not a reliable company. Canceled on us last minute twice. And Joe who is in charge is very rude. They were supposed to arrive by 2:30 pm. They called me at 2:57 pm but I missed their call. The worker (Al?) called again at 3 pm and I answered. He apologized for not showing up on time and told me they can be here by 4-4:30 pm which was too late for me and I expressed thats too late. Joe called me at 3:37 pm twice and I missed them because I was too busy. I called back in about 10 mins after realizing two missed calls. When I called him back, he immediately blames everything on me. He kept emphasizing that I never picked up the phone so they could not make it out here on time and I was so shocked at the way he was blaming me when they were the ones who did not show up on time.
