Let me preface this by saying I do not like writing bad reviews. It's my sincerest belief that in this post-pandemic society, patience and compassion are virtues we must all try our utmost to exercise every single day. With that being said, we also shouldn't allow ourselves to be di**ed around while doing it. First the positive: The response from E I Electric was Spot On. The response time to our inquiry was barely a blip; and they were able to send someone our way shortly after. The electrician, Daniel, was prompt, approachable, and seemed very knowledgeable. He listened attentively as we tried our best to explain all of the electrical problems we were having, and was very meticulous in examining each one. As he did so, he let us know what he believed the problem to be, what needed to be done, and the approximate cost to fix it. We knew the cost would be steep as they were reviewed to be one of the best on the island; but our homes electrical system (which is paramount to our families safety) was the one area we were NOT looking to cut costs on. In the end, we were very satisfied with the initial consultation, and looked forward to working with Daniel and E I Electric. Now, the negative: At the end of the consultation, Daniel let us know that he would be emailing us a quote for the entirety of the job and was on his way. And...that was it. Like a huge bowl of delicious Waiola Shaved Ice on a hot Hawaii day, he vanished into thin air. Our consultation was on either a Thursday or Friday, so we understood when we didn't receive an email right away. The end of the week can be hectic for any company. But when a week passed without any communication from Daniel or E I Electric, we were concerned; especially since we paid $195 for said consultation. When our attempts to reach out by email failed, we decided to call E I directly to explain the situation and try to get ahold of Daniel that way. After being assured that a message would be passed along and that he would contact us shortly, the vanishing act continued. At that point, we accepted that we may have been jilted out of nearly $200...and that was that. All of this took place in mid January of this year, and we are fairly certain Daniel and E I Electric won't be contacting us. I know, it's comical to think that it took well over five months to come to this conclusion - but once again, patience and compassion is really all I have left to maintain my sanity in this crazy, post-pandemic world. But I will end with this: Whilst loosing nearly $200 did hurt, what hurt more was the faith and trust they took away from my husband and I during this experience. Hawaii is such a small group of islands far set from the rest of the world. Sometimes, it really seems like we can only lay trust upon each other to get by. So when a local company betrays that trust for reasons I can only speculate about, it leaves a hole that is difficult to repair. I don't know why Daniel and E I Electric did what they did, and I refuse to give words to any of my speculations. But whatever the reason, it wasn't cool. Do better E I Electric. All of the amazing people of this little Aina of ours deserves it. read more

Scheduled an appointment with this company. I was sent a text message saying a technician would come by the next day between 2-4 PM. There was no communication 3:45 PM on the day of the appointment so I called the company. They told me that there was no scheduled technician for my job and to reschedule. I had to take time off from work just to make this appointment so very disappointed with the lack of professionalism with this company I keeping their word. Joseph on the phone and Dan and Tally who came to my home - were all extremely helpful! I was treated with complete professionalism during all interactions. Dan troubleshot our issue and found an easy fix which was so much better than ripping out drywall etc. We now have functioning outlets and hot water again! Thank you EI electric! My outside light fixture by the back door went out. thinking it was the bulb it was not because bulb work on a living room lamp shade thinking it was the fixture itself. bought a new one installed it myself and still it wasn't working . So went on YELP looking for an electrician and E I Electrical popped up first and address listed was close by my home. gave them a call set up the next available appointment , which was the next day between 1000a - 1200n . and company rep explained all necessary details that i needed to know including the deposit that would go towards the bill if i accepted the job repair. company and tech/electrician kept in touch thru text messages. tech just happens to live down the block from my home so i guess he made us the first job for the day - much MAHALOS to bruddah J ! was at work but my wife was home but he still talked to me on the phone what was the problem and what the solution would be . so i told him go ahead with the repair and my wife would cut him a check for the payment . Company rep and tech - bruddah J again - were very friendly and professional and in communication throughout the process from beginning to end . i will definitely use E I ELECTRICAL INC again in the future for my electrical needs . This job was actually a year ago. As with so many other poor reviews of this company they charge a non-refundable assessment fee to come out before giving you a quote. I needed 4 ceiling fans installed. Basic job. I had gotten quotes from multiple electricians all around $500 so my expectation was that it would be close to this. Plus the assessment fee would be applied so I was thinking about $300 more than the $200 fee= about $500. Nope: $2000!!!!! TWO THOUSAND. That's 4x every other quote I had gotten and so far out of range that no one should accept it. I turned it down of course but was still on the line for the $200 assessment fee. The only thing I could think in that moment was that I had been scammed. How many of these ridiculous $200 visits could they make in a day vs doing the actual job? Probably a lot. I left a 1 star review and they contacted me right away. They said they would cancel the assessment fee to remove the review. I said I would change but not remove the review because this is a shady way of doing business and people should know. I changed it to 3 stars because they promised they would reassess this "new" system they had for charging people but after seeing similar poor reviews recently for the same type of set up I can see nothing was changed. Disappointing. I went with another upfront, honest electrician for that original job and other jobs after it. Trapping potential customers in assessment charges or charging them insane amounts for basic jobs isn't a good long term business strategy. Maybe you can get away with that on the mainland but this is an island and everyone knows everyone to some degree. read more

He was communicative, called in advanced to inform me of his arrival time and asked where he could park. He has a very positive attitude, personable, polite, and punctual. He was able to trouble shoot and diagnose the issue quickly while still engaging in conversations. Fixed the problem and cleaned after the job was completed. He changed my fluorescent tubes with LEDs and fixed my ballasts to accommodate the change. We will definitely seek out EI Electrical again for any more electrical problems. read more

Was contacted by Joe quickly via Yelp & a phone call. He was courteous & sounded eager to help with our electrical issues. Dan arrived at our house the next morning. He let us know he was running late, which was fine. Dan was personable & thorough in his inspection. He provided 3 estimates for us & let us know about the membership discount. We decided on the basic route of repair & he would return today with materials for the repair. BLUF: Even though I paid more than I was hoping, I'm 1,000% happy with the customer service and quality of work E I Electrical and Polito did! I recently reserved a Tesla and needed to have a 240V outlet installed at my rental in order to avoid playing the public charging game in Hawaii Kai, which only has a handful of public chargers. Oahu, itself, only has one Tesla Supercharger at Pearl Ridge. I called several local independent contractors but was unsure about the quality of work I'd be paying for simply due to my interaction with them over the phone. During my online research of customer reviews, E I Electrical seemed to be a well-established electrical company specializing in both residential jobs as well a large commercial work. I called to schedule an appointment with E I and expected to have to wait several weeks but was offered an appointment within several days. Polito was the electrician that ended up coming out and taking a look at the run that would be required from the breaker box to the carport. After an initial assessment, he presented a quote and took off to the local hardware store to pick up the material. Once at the store, Polito called to say he needed to head into town to a larger hardware store since the local store didn't have what he needed. Now, if you are familiar with the island of Oahu, you know heading into town, even on a weekend, is a pain... But Polito had an awesome, positive attitude about it over the phone, was apologetic (without needing to be), and took off for town. Upon return, he quickly ran the wire with conduit, did some minor modifications to the passthrough between the shed and the laundry room (where the breaker box is located), and even improved the existing passthrough and 110V outlet location. Polito installed the circuit breaker, the 220V outlet, and even installed a really nice weather-resistant protective case since the outlet is outdoors. All the work Polito did was awesome! Both Polito, and the installation work he did, were absolutely professional! I ended up paying a little more than I wanted to, but since this is not a house I own and I didn't want to worry about sub-par work as I have read in the reviews of other companies, I'm definitely beyond satisfied with the work that E I Electrical and Polito did! Highly recommend E I Electrical! If you're on Active Duty or a Veteran, ask about an Active Duty Military or Veteran discount. P.S. After Polito had completed the job, I figured out the faceplate of the outlet was upside down for my charger... Totally my fault for confusing Polito at the beginning of the job and not Op Checking prior to him leaving. I sent a text message to the E I number and Polito called me back... He was already in Waikiki but ended up coming all the way back to Hawaii Kai to turn the faceplate over at no additional cost. That was a big deal for me. I really appreciated Polito's patience. Also, my landlord wanted to know if E I Electrical was licensed in the state to conduct electrical work... I guess there are a lot of companies out there that are unlicensed operators employing unlicensed electricians. The owner ended up answering my phone call (even though it was obvious he was trying to enjoy his weekend) and happily talked me through his company's history and shared the fact that E I Electrical was the only fully licensed and operated electrical services company on island. As I said in the BLUF, even though I paid more than I wanted to, I will definitely be using E I Electrical whenever I own my own home and need quality electrical work done! A great disappointment. The electrician came to investigate why the circuits in two adjacent bedrooms were out. He fussed around with the circuit box, looked at 3 outlets (out of 6 in the 2 bedrooms) and then declared that we would have to run wiring concealed in "metallic raceways" from the box, up to the ceiling and through the walls to the outlets in the two bedrooms. We asked for a quote and it came to almost $5000. That solution seemed improbable, so we contacted Grand Hawaii. Johny came out immediately and solved the problem so quickly. read more

What a seamless and easy experience working with EI Electrical was. Sent a request for a quote late in the evening for work I needed done the very next day. Joe was so quick to respond, kind, and helpful and able to help with what we needed. He was able to schedule us for the next morning like we needed. John Paul was our tech who was phenomenal.
